Good morning!

Busy day here yesterday. Our new floor is about 20% installed. It's vinyl planks of varying colors to look like old barn boards. we like rustic, woodsy, cabiny look. The planks are being laid on a 45* diagonal. so far, we are loving it! Our fur-boys are a bit confused but taking it in stride. Foxy strolls through their work area and just hops over the piles of boards to get in/out the door. I expect this is going to take all week long. Next Monday comes bedroom carpet and the rock hearth.

I ordered a wide back for my quilt in Grunge MSQC and the color is called "ash". We couldn't find anything we liked in wide backs at QIAD where I prefer to order from since we are, after all, QIAD folks!

Uncle Ernie didn't go to rehab yesterday after all. Probably Wednesday. We'll see. Bill is keeping close tabs, talking to the hospital and rehab.

Also, yesterday, we called Adult Protective Services. FINALLY someone is listening to us! After hearing us out and asking a lot of questions she thinks we have enough to go to the courthouse and petition to have Vicki involuntarily committed for at least a 72-hour hold so they can evaluate her. From there she may go to a 30-day hold for treatment or even a 90-day hold. Even permanent is possible. We never realized it would have to be US that does this, not APS. We have to line up our pictures, videos, witnesses, journal, and a written time-line of major events and reports. But now, I'm calmed down and feel hesitant to do this. It's really messing with someone else's life and she loves her house/property even in the state it's in. That being said, yesterday I parked my car on our cement pad so the workers could have all the front parking. She set her sprinkler to deliberately sprinkle my car AFTER Bill scolded her soundly for doing it to the tractor and Bob & Betsy's new trailer. So, heaven forgive me, but I repositioned the sprinkler away from the car and (just a little bit) into her open window. I know there's nothing there to hurt as she's ripped up carpet and removed all the furniture. But I felt better and now I feel even more better for having gone to confession (by telling you all!) It wasnt' long before she shut the window and turned off the water. And we moved our car into the woods on the other side of house.

Today is my annual physical. I've already done the mammo and blood work and am expecting no big surprises but it will be good to get it behind me.

CHICKIE - I love your little herd of cows! And did you announce to our Supper Club regulars that your Pocket Lint is a new mommy? I feel like we are all honorary aunties to her! And I agree, sewing baby things is THE BEST! And congrats on wearing out your yoga mat! Your heat is too hot for me!! I'd be driving with the AC on, even that short distance! The hooligans would ride shotgun, of course.

BECCA - so happy to hear that the clots are resolving! They usually do, given enough time. You are another one who works hard and with your heat I'd be wilting! I really need to get out in my yard.

JANA - glad that recipe was a hit! And itsn't it nice to have a few meals in the freezer, ready to go. Are you "working" in the Batt Cave today? Well, sewing is a kind of work . ..

TINA - that's the problem with feeling better - you aren't really better yet. More rest, girlfriend! Bill will be at your house along with Chickie for those reubens. I'll be dropping off at Jana's for cheesy potato soup!

IRISH - how is your sister? It's very common for a patient to go through a period of depression after a big surgery or physical event. Make her laugh. Endorphins are natural anti-depressants. Text me if you need something funny to tell her. I have stories . . .

Yesterday I ended up making my split pea soup. Bill said he thought it was the best pea soup I've ever made! Hm..... For the liquid I used half water and half homemade chicken broth. and for the meat I used basil chicken kielbasa instead of ham. Whatever made it better, he is happy that we have enough for a second supper tonite.

What's going to make YOUR tummy happy tonite?

Good morning ☺
Not much happening around here, it's pretty boring except for the expressions Preston gives me when he's talking 😂
I do need to do some laundry, I'm gonna try, maybe if I space the loads out.....
Well I looked for you all to show up for supper but only us and Dad were here so we have leftovers, maybe they'll be tomorrow's supper so Dad can have them again, he loves them! I think I goofed yesterday and was outside mostly under the gazebo for about 2 hours, I was watering all my things in the back yard while Preston gathered anything he could and had to inspect every little detail LOL I was beat after that and didn't even get my Kitchen cleaned last night so that's my plan next, I hate it when I don't clean my kitchen the night before. Oh well, it happens.
Mary, stay firm, go file those papers. I love the pics of your floor install on FB!
Becca, so happy to hear things are going good for the babies.
I think I might have a Schwan's lasagna and a salad for supper.

Good morning!

Mary - it is one of life's challenges. Ask the question, where would life be better for her? In a place that she loved, that may not hold the same feelings now, which now endangers her more, or somewhere that may give her a better quality of life, which she may never realize. I know it is hard, but you are giving a chance for her children to help their mom as well. I know from past experience that mother's know very well how to manipulate their children into getting what the mother wants. My mom did a very good job at that and was not pleased with me when I stood my ground in decisions concerning her care and well being. You will make a wise decision.

Tina - cooler temps are coming. The ground has started to cool here - I can feel it in my Batt Cave floor - need to wear my slippers as my feet are getting cold. Hope you continue to feel better.

Becca - great news on the twins! Daily progress is a great blessing!

Dinner - well the soup I was going to make, got punted to today.

Sarah just called and Ethan is at school. He will walk home here after school with two of his fruends. The two kids live just up and across my street. Of course Ethan forgot his glasses, so Sarah ran them back to school. Ethan sewed some more of his strips together yesterday.

When Sarah went to Girl's camp, some of the girls there, were my old activity day girls - growing up too fast! They took their quilts I made with them and told everyone that they were their Sister Carney quilts snd how much they live those quilts. Made me happy to know they love quilting!

Well, need to go,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from sunny, warm, gorgeous, SW. Pa....Another summery day but that's OK...Just wish we could bottle them up and keep them for the middle of January....

Mary, I can imagine how thrilled you are to have them working on the floors...I love, love when new things are happening...Most times, our's aren't that big but I'm usually excited...Oh heck, I'm excited when any of the neighbors even get a new fridge! I did look for the picture on FB but didn't see it....Really anxious to see your "new" house.....AND I do think you're doing the right thing for Vicki...Of course in her mind, nothing will be right but in the long run, I'm sure the family will have peace of mind if she's moved into a safe place...Sorry but I just couldn't imagine having my mother or any member of the family, living with rats running around....(And that includes, human rats, but we're not talking about ex SILs, are we? lol)....
We're thinking it might have been the meds that was causing my sister to be a little depressed and of course not being able to jump up and do....But, I'm taking her to see the doc tomorrow and hopefully, he'll tell her she's doing great (which I think she is) and knowing her, she'll tell him to put her on the schedule for the other one....She's thinking of all the traveling we want to do and doesn't want me to go without her.....AND speaking of traveling....Kathy and Tim are now in Germany or parts over there, enjoying their cruise...She's sent me pictures and it's gorgeous...AND, then in Sept. she's coming back here on the 29th for Lena's birthday and told me to fly out a week or so before and fly back and be her companion, which won't cost me anything....(with my mind, I might have written this before)...I'm waiting for her and Tim to ask me to go to Hawaii with them, I think in November...(I'm ready).....

Becca, those little miracles are showing everyone they are survivors....It sounds like they are really doing good...But, I can imagine their parents are exhausted... Are they able to hold them? When I think how tiny they are and then I think of the jumbos I've had, I would be so afraid but it would be special...

Chickie, I missed where you told us your Lint is a momma...How many babies do you now have? Are there any that you are bottle feeding? I have been watching your weather, hasn't been too "nice" has it? Stephan did tell me, the wind does take some getting used to but he and Christine do like it out there....

Jana, Love to hear what's happening in your neck of the woods...Your house seems to be the "gathering" spot, always something going on...Things like that I really miss with all the kids being grown and living elsewhere....

Well, almost time for me to pack up and head for my sister's....Do need to stop and pick up my RX, stop at the Library and maybe later tonight, would like to stop at Kevin's...I've finally gotten Ryan's (DGS) raggedy quilt put back together and need to drop it off......Will be back home tomorrow late afternoon because Scout is coming for a vacation while Terry and Theresa are in Texas...Scout heard I have Snowballs and even sent me a message saying not to believe those who say, chocolate is bad for dogs....(He'll have treats and make believe their snowballs)...

Not sure about dinner, probably something from my sister's fridge...I just had a poached egg and toast for lunch so I'm good for a long time......

You all have a great rest of the day....

Happy eating..............

I just wrote the Aaron saga over in sew in.

Slowly getting the story from him. What I didn't put in was, after the accident happened, he got out of his vehicle and started checking on the rest of the people in the other cars that were hit. One person, stumbled out of their vehicle, bleeding and so Aaron gave first aid there and then ran back about 300 yards to check on another. Finally, in minutes, the troopers were there to help and Aaron then thought it was time to make sure he was alright. He stayed in the mode that he has been trained, now, and as a deputy sheriff. During the whole time as the accident was happening, Aaron was on the radio with dispatch. His worst fear was that he swore with a few very choice words over the radio. He has heard the call and he didn't say one swear word at all! He was happy about that.

Hello everyone,hot here.
Been busy with PSA blood work, drugstore, hair cut. Then we eat out at the new Restaurant we like. Its Italian Called Cody’s Kitchen. They really have good food.We always have leftovers for next day.CA likes their Ruben.I get chicken with peppers n onions n provolone on Hoagie Bun.

Maryz That is a lot to think about but seems the children would be at ease over it.I sure wouldn’t want my Mother living with rats. You will love your new floors. It is a BIG mess to go thru.

Irish Sure hope DS gets a good report. She has a great nurse. You are going to be the traveling Lady. They got to hold the babies at 9 days old. They waited until Brodee had his chest tube removed,I cannot imagine how tiny they are.But they are little miracles.

Jana Sure Glad Aaron wasn’t hurt. When they are trained that way they go into trained mood.

Tina Hope you continue to improve. The heat drains me.

We were so excited & thankful over the wonderful news on our sweet Babies.Made our day.
Levi headed back to work today. He has a lot of traveling to do.
Have a great day everyone. Becca

Good Tuesday afternoon! It is HOT here! I’m sure Tina is hotter, but this is beyond me for comfort! The hooligans and I walked to Choc’s with me carrying DS’s mending, his girlfriend’s big bride’s maid’s dress and a water thermos. It was 93 degrees with a 109 heat index. I tried to get DH to let me borrow the ATV, but he said he needed it and couldn’t wait for me to get back. Two hot miles and two thermoses of water (I filled up at DS’s) later, and I collapsed in the recliner with a couple of popsicles and more water. I got a book and read a bit to cool down.

Now, I’m ready to do some overalls patching for DH. I made him an apple crisp before I left to walk. I’m not sure I feel like trying to think accurately for the cow quilt.

Mary—I really like the grunge line of fabrics! I’ve used them in several things. I know it will be perfect for your quilt! Sounds like your floors are coming right along. Next time I re-do floors, I’m going with the vinyl planking as well. You know, it may have to be you that is the catalyst for getting Vicki the care she obviously needs. Her kids can blame you and say they couldn’t do anything about it, but she can still get care. Hate for you to feel like the “bad guys”, but sometimes that’s what it takes. Look at it this way—you are messing with YOUR life… making it safe for you and your animals from rats and vermin! You also don’t know how her behavior might escalate, either. If you don’t take care of yourself, nobody will! My truck wouldn’t cool down before we got where we were going, and I didn’t want to stuff the dress in the cab with the hooligans. So… we walked. Ga!!! My new yoga mat comes tomorrow! It’s longer and wider than standard, and I’m so looking forward to it!

Pocket Lint came up to the gate yesterday. Timi was also here, and I gave them apples. They will get the cores and peelings when DH gets back and I can drive out in the “cart”.

Jana—meant to say that Korean beef recipe sounds really delicious. You may need to post that recipe. Ha! You gave Mary a lecture similar to mine. Oh, I definitely know how mom’s can manipulate!!! I’ve managed to stand my ground on a lot of life decisions and am better for it, but she never forgave me for not doing her will. I understand! Oh, isn’t it a cringe-worthy event when the girls you taught or babysat are growing up and some getting married. Some I babysat are grandmothers!
Oh! I think Aaron’s action was what every highway worker or responder fears the most. I hope the semi driver got hauled into court! So glad Aaron is good! He must drive a ¾ ton or one ton truck. How were the other passengers? You must be busting your buttons proud of your son and how he handles emergencies!
Tina—I feel for you with the heat and more so with your not feeling well! Hope you get better!

Irish—glad you are getting your sister to the doc. Hopefully she is pulling out of her depression with your able help. Kathy and Tim are certainly enjoying their trip! My sister was in Stutgart when her DH was stationed there. It was a beautiful area. I think you and your sis should both think Hawaii!

Yes, Pocket Lint is a mama, and I am a grandma again. To be honest, we don’t exactly know how many babies we have. At least 20, we think. We have had so much rain, and the grass is so tall and thick that we can’t see to get a good count if they are laying in the grass. No bottle babies! My hostas are thriving with no nibblers, and I don’t have to do the 3 feedings a day. DS2 had a calf that needed a bottle, but I think he found someone else to take it. I couldn’t and stay in at Mom’s during July. They have silly rules against cattle in that neighborhood!

Ha, ha! Every day in Kansas is a bad hair day, and baseball caps are accepted fashion.

Becca—sounds like you are going to have or had a nice day out! Even if it was blood work, it’s good to get out. Both dinners sound choice! So glad for the great news on the twins! And it came just in time for Levi to head back to work—had to make his heart lighter!

Dinner tonight—well, there is apple crisp made by me from apples from the tree the kids gave me for Mother’s Day a few years ago. DH has some steak, and I have soup. We won’t go begging.

Bon appétit!
