SUPPER CLUB - Friday, August 2nd

Good morning!
We are to have a bit of a stormy day today with cooler temps before going back up to 80's for the weekend. Nice! Yesterday was nearly a lost day. I cleaned out two dresser drawers before we left for Seattle. Took us 1-1/2 hrs to get there on the back roads because I-5 was blocked for an accident. We finally found Uncle Ernie and they had just given him a pain med and he was OUT! Neither Bill nor I could wake him. Even the nurse tried. So we wrote him a note and fought our way back home again - another 1-1/2 hrs through nearly stand-still freeway traffic. Poor dog - his supper was late! Bill is meeting his cousin today to brainstorm what to do with Uncle Ernie - rehab for two months and then home or move him to assisted living? There may be signs of dementia beginning. Is it the meds he's getting in the hospital or is it him? Hard to tell as he lives alone and we don't see him often as he lives 40 north of us in Seattle and 40 miles south of Bill's cousin.
Today I will finish all the 'small chores' (I hope) (packing and cleaning) connected with our flooring project. Trying to get that all done because our friends are coming on Monday to help move the big stuff like heavy furniture, toilet, vanity, wood stove. With their help, we might be ready TOO soon and twiddling our thumbs. lol! Maybe then I'll have time to sew! I want to make Bill's sister and DBIL a quilt for their new home though pattern, color, size is yet to be determined.
CHICKIE - did you enjoy your storms or not? If it left you in a mud wallow, maybe not, but you probably needed the rain. Good for you for powering through your Yoga, even without power! and for answering your sister's immediate request. We should all have a sister (and daughter!) as good as you! I think a cow-themed baby quilt for the upcoming little one is the purrfect idea! I love Elizabeth Hartman's patterns, but I don't think she's done any farm animals yet.
JANA - I'm thinking you don't mind finishing up Sarah's projects one little bit! lol! What an undertaking - to cook for a lot of people. I have trouble just figuring out Bill's supper sometimes. That's why I love our supper club! Ideas! Yes, it would be nice if Bill's uncle would agree to go to assisted living - or even simply senior living! If he doesn't, someone is going to have to constantly be checking on him. Especially if this event ends his driving. Living so far from any family at all (through AWFUL traffic to get to him!) will be a heavy responsibility on Bill and his cousin. It will be an all-day thing just to take him to a dr appt. The uncle's older brother (age 98) also just had a stroke (his 4th) an finally had to move from assisted living to a nursing home. So cousin's plate has been full.
BECCA - I think I read in sew-in that you are almost finished with the doggie quilt for the boy twin! and that your police were grateful for the bears you made. How sweet!
TINA - is something going on with your dad?
I think supper will be pork chops tonite with something on the side - potatoes? rice? pasta? stuffing? Salad for sure.
