SUPPER CLUB - Friday, July 26

Good morning!
It's Scottie's birthday today! He's 6 yrs old! Almost as old as Ethan! He acts more like 6 months old sometimes. LOL!
I got another 1-1/2 quilts quilted yesterday and binding made though not sewn on yet. And I packed up some more bookshelves. We have four 4-shelf barrister units and they are all now hand-trucked out to our shop. There are more shelves left to empty but we did probably 70% of my books. Did I tell you how much I love books? And yes, I've read them all, many of them 2 or 3 times. They are my familiar friends.
Today - chiropractor, grocery shop, then another 1-1/2 quilts and bindings. Then more packing up.
JANA - When will they tell Ethan? You know, anticipation is half the fun so I hope he gets a few weeks to enjoy that. I would love to give them a list for QIAD, too! I bet you make a lovelier assistant than Vanna, herself! I had no idea so much went into setting up a home railroad. It's great that your hubby has a hobby he's so passionate about. Bill likes things, like reloading, dutch oven cooking, etc, but doesn't do much of it. He fritters his time (my opionion, probably not his) in front of Facebook, several forums, etc. He truly could match any teenage girl for time on phone/computer. I guess that's his hobby.
LORI - your evening sounds ideally relaxed! Hugs to your boys! Tell them it's Scottie's birthday today.
CAROL - how was the game? Did your hubby enjoy it? A few years ago my local kids took us to a Mariners game as a combined Mothers/Fathers day gift. We sat up in the restaurant portion of the stands - a blocked off area that has waiters to fetch your food/drinks. But we could hardly see the field! It was fun, but not, in my opinion, worth the $50 ticket, even though that $ included some food. Bill and I are such old fuddy-duddies!
BECCA - we have a friend who has one of those sliding stair seats installed in her house. She's the friend who had all her joints replaced in a very short period of time - is still recovering from her last surgery. She loves it, but you're right - it's spendy. But Medicare might cover part of it or medical insurance if the doc writes a 'script for it. We bought a wheelchair lift on craigs list for my brother for a fraction of the retail price and Bill and my sister's husband installed it. But it was only about a lift of 52 inches, I think, which worked purrfectly in their house. What is your house like?
Last night's supper turned out to be a keeper, even though it was an experiment. I used my regular pizza dough recipe, let it raise, spread it on the pan, and baked for 10 min at 400*. Scant spread of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce with a can of cooked chicken breast. I did add some crushed pineapple, craisins, a light sprinkle of red pepper flakes, mozzarella and a bit of parmesan. Bill even remarked how much he liked it. I think black olives and green onions would have been good additions, too. A nice change of pace in pizza.
What's happening in your kitchen tonite?
Tonite - grilled chicken and salad. Not sure what, if anything, else.
