Good morning!

Today is Bill's birthday. He already bought his birthday gift(s) - a battery monitor for the trailer and a gizmo that should enhance our internet here at home. So my shopping is done! But I did get him a book because when we travel he does a lot of reading. Friends, Gus & Claudia, are coming over tonite and we're going to put steaks on the grill. Claudia's birthday is tomorrow so we often celebrate together.

Yesterday, after an appointment and some errands, then I spent a few hours in my sewing room and finished up a quilt top made entirely of scraps that a sane person would have tossed. I need to start getting backs together now and start quilting. I left several tops to be quilted when we left for AK. Most will go to our Police Department. I will do most of them myself with a quick freehand meander.

IRISH - happy heavenly birthday to your DBIL. He sounds like a nice guy and fun to be around. Like your Jim. You certainly have Ruby trained! And Baby Girl has YOU trained! lol! You know, scrubbing the porch doesn't sound like a very good substitute for lunch with the gals. Maybe you could have found something just a tiny bit more fun to do . .perhaps cleaning the oven? Hope your friend is better soon.

TINA - how did your leg treatment go? I've read about those treatments - I hope they are helping. I have no idea how involved mom bunnies are with their babies. But there were 11 and we have bunnies overrunning our yard. The 8 bigger ones were already scampering through the grass even though they were only about 3" long so they may do OK. Not so sure about the 3 tinier ones. Crossed my fingers and put them in Mother Nature's hands. Enjoy the reunion this weekend! If I know you (and I do!) you'll be cooking anyway so you can take dishes to share.

BECKY - Hi! Nice to see you! Our flowerbeds are overrun with weeds, too. But Bill has no input about them. They are ALL on me. And I do less and less with them as the years roll on. Some, I've let go back to Nature. If Nature wants them weeded, she can do it herself! Sounds like your life is as busy as ever!

BECCA - you are too hot for me back there in the east! I think usually bunnies do make a nice nest for the babies, but this bunny just dropped them in the middle of the grass. And what was interesting, it looked like two different batches. And where was mama?? We didn't see her around at all.

SUE - hi! Bill's hand is much better, thanks. Ready for camping? Tex & Annette are there (Site #37, I think) until tomorrow. You will just miss them. But if you happen to go a day early, they are an Arctic Fox with a white Ford. They are the ones that got Bill & me together almost 30 years ago.

JANA - KFC sounds good. So does a free car wash! Glad your vertigo is improving. I've had that about 3 times over several years. My doc prescribes Meclazine. It's an OTC drug often used for motion sickness. Mostly it puts me to sleep but then I'm not trying to walk down the hall and run into the walls or falling down the stairs!

IZZY - I think once we're all used to it, the site will be fine. But the learning curve seems steep at first. And we're happy to have you at the table! But just know, RULE # 1 OF SUPPER CLUB IS you need to check your seafood at the door! Here we eat "Mac & Cheese". If I have to read about CATFOOD being served, I will gag! RULE #2 IS REFER TO RULE #1!

CAROL - thanks for the advice on the font size. You can see, I took it! And for that, I'll let you skate by with your forbidden menu! :)

Tonite, besides steaks, we will be having baked potatoes, salad, cornbread, and for dessert, Bill requested apple pie and ice cream. So I'll be doing some baking this morning. I'm sure there will be a little wine somewhere along the evening, too. :D

What's your supper story?

Good morning!

Velda - you will get it! Just hang in there and keep trying. Or should I say typing! I too am slowly figuring out the site, I am very computer dumb!

Mary - Happy Birthday to Bill. His chouce of cake and ice cream is perfect. Maybe add a touch of caramel sauce to send it over the moon!

Speaking of moon, where were you 50 years ago? My mom and I were driving home from Disneyland. I had just gotten my driving license and mom didn't want me driving in LA traffic, so as soon as we got out of that, I was driving home the rest of the way. About 6 hours. We had the radio on listening to the description of what was happening. Mom told me to hurry up, speed, to make it home to see the first step on the moon. We made it home in time, but I was so tired, I fell asleep on the couch, waiting! I missed the live event! So even as today, I have only watched it on tape. I have always been intrigued with all the launches and landings of space travel. Just to watch, not do!

Dinner - something simple - chef salads. Last night I made calzines. They were a hit with Michael. You cheat the bread dough by using Rhodes frozen dinner rolls. Set them out, they thaw and raise. Then you make whatever pizza fillings you want. Roll the bread roll flat, into a circle, stuff and seal the edges tight. Bake and dip in marinara sauce. I thought the rolls looked small, so I did three for each of us - nope, one each was very filling. So Michael has lunch. You can make a bunch ahead for the freezer and just bake them from being frozen too. I used the cracked wheat rolls, but any flavor works too. Another Pioneer Wiman recipe. Most of her revipes are terrific! Some, not my style.

Well, breakfast awaits,

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from a very warm, very sunny, SW. Pa...But, I am not complaining, just thinking ahead to all the cold winter weather we might get so am enjoying this warmth....

I'm still navigating, very slowly around the new forum and although it does seem strange, will catch on...I might even get up the nerve to try to post a picture, one of these days, lol...

Mary, please give Bill a big Birthday Hug from me along with best wishes for a super day....I like his request for dinner, smart fellow you have there....Yesterday, I did get lazy and just pretty much stayed inside and got little things accomplished so today is "scrubbing" day...One thing, I figure with me spraying water, I'll get soaked and in the heat, it should feel pretty good....I do have clothes on the line but they sure won't take long to dry...

Jana, I like your idea about the Calzones, just might have to add that to my list....That would be good to have on hand when Kathy and her bottomless pit of a husband are here...He forever has his head stuck in the fridge but he's a very big, tall man and needs lots of fuel....

Remember me mentioning "SnowBalls"? (chocolate cake covered with marshmallow icing and coconut)..Well my neighbor loves them as much as I do and I thought, in return for all she feeds me, I'd give her some Snowballs...Well, trying to find them has been an adventure...Our Dollar General does get some but sell quickly so the gal took my name and # and will call when the truck comes, lol...But, this morning my sister was shopping, found some in her grocery and called..Wow, told her to pick up a bunch and Donna will be so happy...Of course, I'll have to help her enjoy them....You know, "when you get to be my age", (love that saying), the littlest things make you happy, lol.....

Not sure what dinner might be, not really thinking about food (just snow balls).....

You all have a great day.....

Happy eating...... 8-) 8-) 8-)

Irish, snow balls were my favorite. When Hostess got taken over by another company, they were not the same.

Jana, I was sitting in front of our black and white tv watching it. lol We didn't even have a remote back then. I was 8.

Maryz, HB to DH. Hope you have a great little party.

We had Teriyaki chicken, rice, and broccoli. Yum.

I'm going to go sew a bit now.

Have a lovely evening.
