Good morning!
It’s 3am here. We are parked in a beautiful wooded spot next to a proverbial babbling brook. Birds started singing at 2am. Then Foxy came and laid between our pillows demanding some attention, spreading out all of his 16 pounds, hogging all the room. I gave up and am now in my recliner. Today’s travels will take us to Tok, AK (150 miles) and maybe further. Depends on the roads and my driver. Roads can be pretty rough in places.
Chickie, are you sure you’re allowed boys to visit while you are “sitting”? I have to say, after getting into chiggers once in CA, if they are the price to pay for berries, I would be going berry-less! Who is watching Choc and Ava? Glad you have Odie with you!
Becca, are you able to keep your house cool at all? A/C or fans or ?? I feel for your hubby and for you, too, especially with your back. I hope you both are able to enjoy the party this weekend.
Jana, glad the lost is found! Your family has a lot going on for the Fourth! Fun! And you will have a front row seat!
Irish, are you doing anything special for the Fourth? Are you done kitty sitting yet?
We will be in Yukon Territory for the Fourth. But not to worry - I’m saving my patriotic t-shirt to wear tomorrow plus our bright red truck has stars & stripes graphics on the sides. We’ll be celebrating as we roll down the road.
Supper always depends on how the day goes. It could be chicken cacciatore made with frozen leftover sauce and canned chix over noodles. Or frozen chili or grilled burgers.
What’s happening on your plate tonite?

Good morning! Catastrophe averted! The Keurig shut down and wouldn’t brew until I performed maintenance using a quilting pin! Whew!!! I really need my espresso blend! Mom was up at least 5 or 6 times in the night, and I had to get up to help her. I didn’t sleep well the night before knowing I needed to get up before dawn, so I am really foggy this morning. This is an every night occurrence, although my sister says sometimes it’s only three trips. She reported today that she had the best sleep she had had in months last night at their hotel. I don’t doubt it for a minute!!!
When I finally opened my eyes for good at 6 a.m., I was surprised to see we had had a little shower. It cooled the air, but later today with the 90+ temperatures, it will turn to steam. Still, I’m really enjoying the refreshing change from yesterday’s heat! We still have little rumbles of thunder—not minding that at all!
Mary—Choc and Ava are being walked by my neighbor. She’s so sweet to do this for me. It’s great to have good friends. A friend in need is definitely a friend indeed! I think since I’m over 21, it’s o.k. to have boys over while I’m sitting. My chigger bites keep reminding me of the berries I’m missing. They are the scourge of summer—chiggers, not berries!
I’m getting very little done here as far as hand sewing or embroidery. Guess I was ambitious to bring several projects. Mostly I’m keeping Mom company, catering to her every whim, fixing meals, showing her pictures of my sister and brother-in-law on their trip… and, of course, trying to stay cool and semi awake. I hope to get a nap this afternoon.
I think I’m going to call this good for now and finish my coffee. Have a great day, everyone!
Dinner at noon will be salmon with a rice pilaf and salad. Supper will be light.
Bon appetite!

Chickie, you will be one tired cookie at the end of three weeks! I question how much longer you and your sister can keep this up. Do you have enough food there to last over three weeks Or will you have to grocery shop at some point?
Early this morning I realized we are crossing the border probably later this afternoon. They frown on fresh fruits and veggies so I got busy cooking up what I could and put in the freezer, labeled soup veggies for a future meal. I made Bill eat our lone Apple and we are snacking on grapes as we travel! I also cooked most of the potatoes and eggs and made potato salad so I guess that’s on our menu tonight

Good early afternoon from a warm but overcast, sometimes, sunny, SW. Pa...Just not sure what weather we'll be having today...Most of the state has had nasty storms but so far, my little neck of the woods has been spared, thank goodness....
Mary, just last night, I talked to Kathy and she said, they've finalized their cruise/trip to Alaska for next June, I believe....When I told her you were there now, she asked what cities you had visited so I'm going to go back in the posts and look them up...Tim's brother lives somewhere up there and he was there not too long ago, hunting and fishing but this time, they'll take the cruise up and then fly home....
So far, I have no plans for the 4th and I'm hoping it stays that way...My sister did ask if I wanted to go to their camp but I'm Scout sitting so need to stay home...AND no, my kitty sitting is done for awhile but knowing those 2, they will have a trip or 2 in the future...They love the islands and love scuba diving...ME, if I have to put my face under water, not my cup of tea! The kids used to tease me, in the 30 years we had our pool, I was underwater 3 times and all by mistake!
Chickie, been thinking about you and hoping you are getting some rest....Are there any local agencies that offer sitting, help with bathing, etc.? I was lucky to find a group that would come and do just about anything that was needed but I only had them come a few times to sit...They weren't cheap but those few hours away helped get the old body back on track, lol.....You know, you will be rewarded, just hopefully not soon.....Take care.....
Not sure what all I'm going to get into today....Was upstairs sewing until the tummy started grumbling...Will probably finish the lion quilt after I have my cup of tea......I've been trying to spend time with Scout although if he'd be at home, he'd be by himself..But, I just feel sorry for him so I'll sit and cross stitch while he lays and sleeps, lol....
As for dinner, this might be "must-go" day but I don't think there's anything in the fridge, lol....But, there's always eggs so maybe poached egg and toast......I'll need to shop and restock for Kathy and Tim...Tim is hungry all the time, always looking in the cupboards for a goodie or 2......
You all have a great day.....
Happy eating...........
