Good morning,

Rise and shine! Happy Today! Our BBQ yesterday was nice. I'd forgotten we'd invited my nephew and his wife, too. So it was a nice crowd. Mike was blown away by the new computer. Usually he gets jammie pants or a book. But he really needed a laptop that would play nice with his desktop as he does a lot of writing on the fly. The sad part was saying goodbye to my DD, Lara. We won't be seeing her again before they move to the East Coast as we'll be in Alaska. Kind of strange - we were in Alaska when Autumn moved to L.A. in 2006 (she moved from there to Austin in 2012). Now Lara's moving.

Today is going to be kind of quiet, I think. We might put a few things in the trailer, but it's too soon to pack our last bits of food. I might work on my last UFO - more bow ties. I have them all squared up and just got started sewing them together yesterday before kids came.

BECCA - have a great time with your friends today. I'm sure you will have lots of catching up to do after 2 years!

JANA - happy belated birthday to Kate! I loved the Aladdin movie. Robin Williams was brilliant in it. As he was in everything. I made one of those checkerboard cakes once using foil in the pans. I've seen the pans since and thought how much easier they would be. Kate will love any cake you make her!

LORI - Chili is a good idea. I should make some and freeze it in 2-serving packages for camping meals . . .

Tonight's supper - well, maybe it will be that chili! We'll see what the HOH thinks.

What's for supper at your house?

Maryz, glad your son liked his gift. Sounds like a fun BBQ. Bummer your daughter is moving so far away. I hated when my son was in Florida. It was too far for me. Utah is much better. I can drive there in a day, or fly in less than 2 hours.

After we walk the boys, I will run the vacuum. Then I need to grocery shop. Haven't done that in a couple of weeks, and we are running out of fresh food. I also need to come up with something to take to a bbq tomorrow.

Have a lovely day. Lori

Good morning!

The termite, AKA, Ethan is rumaging through all the cereals in the cupboard, assembling his breakfast. We will get ready for church after that. Dinner is meatloaf, baked potatoes, trimmings for them, and a veggie to be determined.

The new cake pans come with the rings to make the different checks, but I saw on a cooking show, to bake the cakes in solid flavor - chocolate and vanilla, then use the rings as a cutter and restack them in each layer. Much easier, I hope. We will see after church, Ethan will help me frost and fill. The layers are baked already. I have a new recipe for boxed cake mix, which is very good. More like a bakery style cake.

Mary - at least you will be gone and not watch them drive off - to me that is hardest. When Sarah moved here, that happened.

Lori - Utah is a good place - not too far!

Well, time to get the boys going, church starting time is near,

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon! Wow, the morning flew by in a blitz of floor cleaning, yoga, laundry, making biscuits and gravy for DH for brunch, cleaning up the kitchen…

We are getting MORE rain this morning! My phone keeps going off with flood alerts. The pond is even higher than it was a few days ago, and it had dropped considerably. Since I’ve been living over here, it’s not rained this much for so long that I can remember.

We have lost track of calves. The grass in the pastures is almost waist high, and the little calves get lost when they lay down. I guess the mommy cows know how to find them. They each have a voice and know their calf’s voice. We were out in the ATV yesterday and all over there were little “wing nuts” popping up to see what was happening.

Jana—Grandma had a set of the checkerboard pans back in the 50s. They were so cool! That’s interesting about slicing the rings later. I know that different cakes bake at different temperatures, so that would be better, I’m sure. I can’t wait to hear how yours turn out! Maybe a picture???

Lori—I had to go to the store yesterday… mainly for bird food and dog treats. You know what rules here!!! I did get a few things for the humans, too.

Mary—a quiet day is nice. So sorry you were saying goodbye! Know the computer was a hit! I love my laptop. I think I like the way Jana thinks—you be gone so you don’t see them drive away. Of course, I bet they miss you in the rear view mirror as they drive away!

Becca—it’s going to be so hot in your area! I can’t imagine!!! If we got 100s temperatures, we would be boiling! As it is, we are simmering in the 80s. As humid as it is with the nonstop rain and soggy ground, we are steamy and buggy! All the little blood sucking critters are multiplying and hungry. I’m thinking the desert or over 10,000 ft. elevation would be good places to be!

Dinner tonight—Ava’s mommy is having a birthday and we are invited for lasagna. I was told I don’t have to bring anything—just show up! I can do that!!!

Bon appétit!
