SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, May 25

Good morning!
Should be cool and rainy today, but we'll see how it plays out. Sometimes we get lucky . .
Yesterday I received an invitation to our niece's baby shower. A few months back I made a Bjorn Bear (by Elizabeth Hartman) quilt for her. I cross stitch my labels and had stitched a teddy bear on the label but was waiting for the 'statistics' before I finished the writing part. We are going to be in AK when the shower happens but we were leaving in 2 hours to meet 'Gramma' for dinner so I sat down and started stitching fast! I prayed they weren't going to change the name, "Brantley" at the last minute, went with a simple "2019" for a birthdate, sewed the label onto the quilt, threw it into a gift bag, and off we went! Now Gramma will deliver it for me and we save a ton of postage! Whew! And traffic wasn't a problem in our 80-mile round trip! We were so surprised at that, given that it's a holiday.
Today our kids are all coming for a BBQ to celebrate Mike's birthday. Can't believe my little boy is going to be 44 on Monday. (Actually, some days I can't believe I reached 44 myself!) He's a good son. He got a publish date of October or November for his novel and his second one is almost finished. He really needs a new computer for his writing so the whole family went together to buy him a laptop. I can't wait for him to open it!
BECCA - you had a really nice visit with your kids! I love it when days like that just come together. Is your son still there or did he go back home? and more company on Sunday! Maybe your deer or a bear will come out and put on an entertaining show for them!
CHICKIE - glad you got a little sew-time! Soak it up!
JANA - I hope Joseph is able to land his dream job!
LORI - glad you got your wings! My MIL used to make ginger wings that were really good. But her recipe (in her head) died with her. I've never been able to duplicate it quite the same.
Yesterday I was wondering what to make for supper even as I was telling you we were going out! That's what I get for chatting before coffee! I had a pork tamale and it was excellent. Bill had chorizo with huevos which he liked, too. Today - it's going to be baked beans, corn on the cob, and an assortment of grilled offerings - brats, beef burgers, chicken burgers, or veggie burgers. It's a lot for just 7 people, but everyone likes different things. For afters, my DDIL is bringing a birthday cake and we have Dove ice cream bars. As far as food goes, we should be good!
What sounds good at your house?
