SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, May 18th

Good morning,
Today is the 39th anniversary of the day Mt. St. Helens blew her top. we were camping and the rangers woke us up and told us to get out, but 15 minutes later decided the roads were so dangerous so kept us in the park. We spent the day playing games with the kids in a picnic shelter. It looked like snow coming down. I still have a jar of ash that we collected. And a few years later two of my brothers drove log trucks that helped to salvage the timber that was blown flat by the blast. Trees looked like thousands of giant toothpicks laying on the mountainside.
But today - no mountains! I got my sewing room cleaned up but need to vacuum yet. I also got all my sewing projects for traveling organized, fabrics cut, and everything is packed and staged to go out to the trailer. Bill is still working out there, running wires through walls to the exterior lights he is installing on the back of our trailer. I will be making blackberry jam for Gene today but need to go to store for sugar. I have everything else ready to go. Maybe I'll buy some strawberries, too, for jam. I don't know what his favorite is . . . I was only 2 yrs old when he left home so I missed a few little details about him like that.
BECCA - sounds like you are going to be warm today! I call a porch day for you!!
JANA - that's a nice wedding gift! Those bath sheets at Costco are nice! I often give away my jam and sometimes even get the jars back. But I have a hunch I'll never see these pints again since they are going to Alaska. I usually make jam in half-pints but since I have a case of new pints, I'm using them instead - fewer jars to break on the jouncing Alaska Highway! How was the new chicken noodle soup?
What was new about it? Thinking of your Kate today.
TINA - that's a lot of banana bread! Did you add nuts? I love nuts in anything. But don't put nuts in Bill's. He's not as nutty as I am.
We might be having pasta tonite. There is a little meatloaf left and it makes great "meatballs" for spaghetti. Though Bill said he didnt' like it so maybe I'll just toss it out instead and go with chicken - again. Trying to eat down the freezer before we go and chicken is about all that's left. We can't take meat or fresh produce over the border.
What's going on your plate tonite - or in your bowl?
