SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, May 14th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue May 14, 2019 4:17 am

Good morning!

We've cooled down and should get some rain today. We need it! We've had to have sprinklers on this past week. We love our green, here!

Yesterday was mostly about Christmas Swap blocks. I'm making big snowman faces (posted a photo in the swap thread). I got all my parts and pieces fused and cut out, plus my 4-patch backgrounds sewn. Today I'll start stitching things down.

Last night was noisy at our house between the owls yakking at each other and at Scottie who was "yakking" at owls. Then Foxy wasn't in bed, so I went looking for him and couldn't find him. Sat up worrying and reading for an hour until he came in. Whew! the owls didn't get him! Then the scratching inside the walls started. What a night!!! Today, we'll be checking inside those walls. I HATE to think what might be in there. It stops momentarily when we tap on the walls. I checked Vicki's yard yesterday when she was gone for a walk and found a LOT of empty dishes strewn through the long grass, chewed paper plates, fast food containers, used coffee filters, empty pastry envelopes from Starbucks, and food remnants. I think she is bringing in more wildlife than raccoons. Sigh. But if it's rats, we can call the health department and turn her in. They aren't interested in anything but rats. Not that that will change her behavior, but it's one more thing to document (and I document it all!) Shudder!

JANA - I'm excited about your Batt Bath being almost done! Is it - umm - functional yet? A real bummer about your washer, though! I've heard a lot of similar stories from others with front-loaders. Hope it's a quick and easy fix.

LORI - did you get your tablerunner finished yesterday? We do freeze our meat because we buy it at Costco. I premake burgers and meatloaves to freeze.

BECCA - what a sweet treat to run into the little ones at the library! Libraries are my second favorite happy places next to quilt shops. Sorry little Avery is sick. Hope she is better soon.

CHICKIE - Sorry to hear Mom is fading. You might be able to get OT or PT to come to the house for her to help prevent muscle wasting. I know facility residents get a variety of therapies, as needed. But lots of fun parties in your life this weekend! and lots of cakes and cookies! congratulations to everyone! And I love WA, DC, too, but to visit. Not to live there! I HATE traffic!

TINA - I'm sorry sadness underlaid your Mother's Day. I think most of us are of an age where we are missing our moms. I know I do. But I try to celebrate those days and all the joy that she and my other loved ones brought into my life and do something fun in their honor.
Congrats on your turtle nests! It will be fun to see what happens now! You may be overun with turtles!

Our chicken last night was super-delicious. Served it with wild rice and salad. We have more for tonite. yum!

Good morning!

Michael just got off the phone with the repair company. They will be here on Thursday morning. In talking with Michael, they will send the repairman with a new pump. I like this company already - they think ahead! Michael wants y'all to know that this was a OFU, operator fouled up error - me! That is the polite translation - LOL! I have learned my lesson, no more washing area rugs, I will just throw them out and get new when they are dirty!

Mary - we too are hearing more noisy birds here too, that is because I can open the windows at night. But we don't have a alert watchdog like Scottie! Too bad about all the trash in the yard. Is there a local agency you could call to report the health hazard that those unwanted critters bring? Maybe the scratching noise are bees - they are bad, but not as bad as meeses! Good luck in finding and getting rid of them.

No idea on dinner yet, but maybe one of the corned beefs I have in the freezer.

The Batt Cave outhouse is functioning. Matt will be here tomorrow after work to do some of the electrical finish wiring in there. Daniel is very good at construction, but lousy at electrical. Matt is just the opposite. Aaron is still the go-fer, still learning. We also have a bunch of new fixtures to be replaced throughout the house. Matt will change those out too. Finally be able to just use a regular light bulb, not one with special bases.

Well, need to get going, the Batt Cave needs to be straightened and vacuumed - the outhouse needs sweeping too.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning.

Yes Mary, I did get the table runner top finished. I like how it cam out. I have a few ideas about how to quilt it. It's a Indigo dyed piece of fabric I made in a class. Then I did a little embroidery on it. I added a Indigo charm pack to make the runner. I'll post when it's done. I need a distraction from the other quilt. The border is harder than I thought it would be. That's about right. I get these great idea's that aren't always easy.

Tina, how fun to have turtle eggs. I hope they make it to hatching.

Jana, bummer about the washer. Hope they can fix it.

Mariam, sorry to hear your mom is not doing well.

Today I will work on the modern quilt. I have drafted out what I need for the border, so we shall see it it works. Then I have guild tonight.

Last night DH wasn't here, so I had the potato salad without the chicken. We might have a late lunch today and skip dinner. It's still up in the air.

Have a lovely day. Lori

I missed the morning but I'm here now! I went to the park with Easton's class. It was a beautiful morning for it!
Jana, I washed a rug once in my front loader, it plugged the filter up, we learned how to clean it out though after the repairman showed me :) now we just clean it every so often, I wouldn't change my front loader for anything, love how it cleans and uses so much less water!
Mary, I'd have a hard time sleeping knowing there's things in the walls.
Lori, I'm really excited to see if we get baby turtles!! I have 4 turtles in my pond now, 3 red sliders and 1 yellow slider, they're so cool!
I'm not sure about supper, maybe leftovers from last night. We were outside till dark thirty planting plants and bulbs, I have a. Mum and hydrangea to plant this evening, oh and ranunculus still left to plant.
