SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Feb 18
Good morning!
We are 35* here, and still slowly melting. Good thing we aren't warming up drastically or there would have been a lot of flooding. But so far, no big problems with that if you don't count our back yard! lol!
I got my binding on my Orca yesterday. I posted photos of both Orca and the bears. The Orca quilt top I made last May. Bill quilted it and so all I had to do with it was binding. It's on my couch now and I'm leaning up against it as I type this message! I love it! The bears are on hold until I find an appropriate backing fabric. No rush. I have 6 months to get it finished. So I cleaned my sewing room, reorganized a few things, and then got out past swap blocks to start putting together. I HATE having UFO's and they seem to be gaining on me lately. Time to fight back!
JANA - My mom, and later I, just used a variety of pie plates to make the skirt for the doll cake. Though a fancy bundt pan would make a pretty one. Love that you were able to put your seamstress skills to work and repair the 'tear'! lol!
BECCA - I wonder if your elderberries are different from ours. Ours are red, grow in a cluster much like grapes, only the size of colored round pin heads. You'd have to pick for 3 days to get enough for a pie! My little sister and I used to pick them for our mudpies. If I remember right, they tasted bitter. Today is laundry and I'm stripping our bed and will "dress" it later today. I never do sheets without thinking of you and the new term I learned from you for making the bed.
CHICKIE - how is Shelly's quilt coming along? How did you decide to quilt it? We just put new crushed rock down on our driveway last summer and it's been nice to have a good 'tire-hold' in all this muck. We'll have the car (an '05 Camry, "Bluebell") out today for the first time. Our driveway is half again as long as yours and winds through the woods and crosses through a very wet space. We have a small culvert under the driveway, but if we have enough wet, it flows across the driveway, too. Dressing your doll cake as a bride for a shower was genious!! You are always so clever!
IRISH - you are really raking in the free meals! Yum!! If I ever get back there I want to go to your sister's house, too! And take a suitcase!
Well, the good news is the lasagna is gone. But we still have noodles and pork left. I may dice the pork up, put it with the noodles, add some veggies and broth, and call it soup for tonite. Same food, different format.

Today is "ugh-lies" day and routine EKG appointment. I will make up my mind later this afternoon what will be for supper.
Mary soup sounds good to counter the cold weather.
Jana your cake sounds so pretty.
It's time to get busy. Everyone have a superb day.

Good morning!
We had lots of fun last night. Little Baden stole the show! He got here, saw his cake and then got a fork out of the drawer and went to his mon with the fork and one word, taste? We tried hard to persuade him to wait until after dinner, but he was persistant. Finally, Grandpa took over and taught him how to snitch a taste of frosting from the bottom. That worked!
The baked ziti cassarole was very yummy. Only one problem. We were planning on 17 for dinner, the recipe said it served 12, so I made two up. Pioneer Woman's serving size is huge! We could have done with just one cassarole and had seconds as well. So we divided up the leftovers which will feed all of Matt's family, Aaron's family and us! After everyone was gone, Ethan was still here. Sarah came to pick up Ethan and she and her DH had dinner with our leftovers and there is still plenty for us tonight. Maybe you could label this recipe as the never ending cassarole! LOL!
Today, I think Sarah and I will go to our LQS to get some embroidery thread and fabric. I went through my new embroidery programs, using their color charts and made a list of the colors called for. 36 different collors. Also will need stabilizer.
Mary - glad the snow melt is slow. Floods are not fun! The Orca quilt is spectacular! The fair is when? You have time to do a couple more for entries! You will enter it, won't you!
Mary Rosebud - hope uglies go by quick and your tests are normal!
Well, should get going, a few loads of dishes still await me,
Enjoy,
Jana

Hello everyone,We did have sunshine but clouds returned. We had rainall day & nite. Our ground has to be soggy.
Maryz Our elderberries here don’t grow like grapes. They are spaced very sparse. And we only have a few vines. You would need to pick 5 days to get enough to do anyway with them.
Oh stripping beds are a pain but so necessary. And they do sleep, better.
We used to make mud pies & use poke berries.
Rosebud Soup is always good I think.Hope the EKG appt goes well.
Jana Knew the cakes would be a big hit.All kids love icing.Oh my That must have been a BIG recipe to feed that many.
Irish I Too want to visit your Sister. She must be a great cook.
Chickie Im Sure you’re either stuck in the mud or walking the Hooligans.lol
I’m making black beans over bed of rice.Pickled beets for me too. Becca

Good afternoon from once again, snow covered, cold but nice "stay at home" day in SW. Pa....
Mary, I checked your photos and you just keep getting better and better...Both are absolutely amazing...Now you really have me thinking on the baby quilt for my next DGG baby, but I'd have to do it in cats....
And speaking of babies (see how quickly I can turn any conversation into one about babies)...Cari sent me a video of Lena having her 1st bites of cereal and what a picture....Of course she loves it and couldn't get enough..You know that Michalin man (I know it's spelled wrong but it's that tire ad)...Well, little Lena Rose is in competition...
Mary, my sister would love, love to have you visit with your suitcase...For a sister, she's pretty nice, lol and boy can she cook! Right now she is caring for dear girl who just had knee surgery plus other serious problems but she's made her a part of the family...
When I think about the years when we weren't on real good terms and then I think of how it is today, I'll take these days any time...It's hard to think of the past but there comes a time when you just have to let it go and move on.....We need to get you on this side of the country, bring your big camper and all your toys...Lots of room to park, lots of acreage to play and a good cook, (and of course me to show you around)... what more could you ask for.....
Today is the day I'm turning over that new leaf, yea right...So far, not much is happening but I'm determined...BabyGirl has decided this is her day to be pampered and of course I have to go along with it...
Did have a great day yesterday and my tummy was full with no problems, thank goodness...AND I was out until after dark! Tomorrow, after the doctor's appointment, I'm going to pick up DDIL, Cindy and my sister and we'll go for lunch...
I did talk to Kathy and she's planning our trip when my sister and I go out in March...She is in Carmel this past weekend and where they were eating, ran into Clint Eastwood...She said, he's quite a nice person, joined them for a drink....
As far as dinner, I have left overs from yesterday....If possible, better that 2nd day.....
You all have a great day, stay warm and be safe....
Happy eating..............
Eagle Update: Egg #3 arrived about 5:10 this afternoon....So far, Momma and eggs are doing well....Momma is resting and probably thinking, what have I gotten myself into!
