SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Feb 16th

Good morning,

Most of our epic snow has melted but that doesn't mean we don't still have a ton of it on the ground! Biggest snow in 100 years really gives you your money's worth of the white stuff! And I'm still loving it! Such a rare treat here.

Yesterday I finished all my 12 bears and will put that top together this morning. Then it will go into the UFO pile until I find some flannel for backing. It has to be snuggly warm, for this baby who will be born in mid-august! LOL!

Then I'll be moving on to uglies - bathroom, mopping, dusting, vac'g. We invited friends, Gus & Claudia, for an early supper. They are our happy hour friends we meet about once a month at the Mexican restaurant. They usually go with us on a wine-tasting trip to Yakima every early spring and it's time to plan!

TINA - that's a good price for steak! I saw hamburger in the store the other day for $7 a pound! I skipped that! Hope your dad is doing better on the antibx. Is Frankie having more work done at the dentist? I go on Tuesday. I have a tooth that is bothering me - a crown that he put in last year. I'm not going to be happy if that crown needs to be drilled out and redone.

JANA - Any "fallout" from your earthquake? And yes, I would think the cougars would get the attention! I'm sure you saw the guy in CO who was attacked and ended up in hand to paw combat with the cat. He finally strangled it! But kids couldn't do that. I hope there are big fences around all the playgrounds! Thanks for your tip on the no-cook noodles. Maybe I cooked the whole lasagna too long (9x13, 1/2 hr, 350*). They seemed overly soft.

CHICKIE - your tablerunner and placemats were purrfect for your outdoorsie family! We'll all be looking for your DD's quilt soon! No, I didn't find the grunge, but this quilt will be a good one to go through the pre-school years and I'm sure it will obtain a natural grunge look before long! lol! Thanks for the tip about using regular lasagna noodles and adding more liquid. I've thought about that before but never actually tried it. Seems every time I make lasagna it's for a special occasion and I don't want to risk a failure.

BECCA - I'm sure you are aware that the white blood cells fight infections. If your count is low, then you are susceptible to any infx or virus that comes along and you will have a difficult time getting rid of it. Smart of you to stay home as much as possible!

MARY ROSE - that's the problem with a pot of beans. They aren't so yummy by Day 5! lol! The no-cook noodles are lasagna noodles. No bags.

So tonite's supper is going to be thin pork tenderloin cutlets, breaded and fried, then covered in a cranberry glaze. (recipe calls for raisins, but I use Craisins). Hot buttered noodles and a veggie yet to be named. And I'll probably make rolls, too, and possibly a cake. Depends on time and ambition.

Hello! We are icy again. I didn’t go to town today. We won’t starve, but my laundry may not have fabric softener. I’m sick of the ice! I think there is more in the forecast.

Mary—you talk like the baby will be born in the southern hemisphere in August! LOL! I’m sure the flannel will be appreciated about 2 months later!

Mary Rose—I can probably eat beans every meal. You can mash some up and make bean and cheese quesadillas… I’m sure your chicken sandwich was yummy, too! Thank you for the compliments!

Becca—thank you! I really enjoyed making the placemats and runners. I think Brynn will be so surprised when she picks them up thinking she is only getting a runner for her Mom. Stay inside if you can!

My sister wants me to make her some kind of microwave potholder—smaller than regular potholders. I said I’d do it in exchange for her taking lunch to Mom today and my not having to get out on the roads. I’ll be in my sewing room!

Dinner tonight—baked potato soup. We also have banana bread.

Bon appétit!

Good late afternoon from a dreary, chilly or down right cold, SW. Pa.....it's just the kind of day a person would love to stay in robe and jammies all day but knows for sure someone would eventually come to the door..AND it happened, darn.....I often laugh to myself when I go out to feed Jake or get the paper and am dressed in my over night finest...But, the best one is putting bird feed in the feeder, which I have to stand up on our patio wall and it surely would make a good video for that TV show.....

Mary, so glad you're enjoying your snow...Did talk to Kathy last night and they have had 88 inches so far and more on the way...Of course, she and Tim were getting out of town and on their way to Carmel early this morning....I did look up your baby quilt and it is gorgeous and will be perfect with the flannel...I haven't decided what to make for our new one...Might wait until we know, pink or blue....

Chickie, sometimes, as much as I hate to say it, I'd rather have the snow than the ice...But, having neither would be better...And I agree, your placemats and runners are perfect...She is going to be so thrilled....

Jana, just this morning, I saw and heard, on FaceBook, a speech by, I believe a Dr. Hudson who is a president...I did save it but now I can't find it to make sure I have the name right...It was so inspiring...He spoke from his heart and it was great.....

Not much happening in this household, I'm being very lazy again today...Have tried to do some uglies, did get some laundry done but that's about it...It seems, Baby Girl and I do a lot of snuggling and she now has this thing, if I'm not paying any attention, she'll take her paw and touch my face and then kisses my nose...What a character! Although Kelly was a "private" fur baby, the house seems so quiet but I know, she's at peace....

AND a bit of good news, we have egg #2 in the nest...AND maybe a 3rd on the way...Our Momma has been known to have 3 but trying to take care of 3 eaglets is a big job...Fun for us to watch but hard on the parents.....

And I do have to share one more special thing...Yesterday was Jim's birthday so last night Terry got everyone together online and we had a toast and shared some of our favorite memories...It was so neat to have quite a few of those scattered throughout the country to all be together again and the memories were priceless....Those memories will keep us all close and with Jim forever....I can't believe it's almost a year! Still so hard!

I was actually going to make a meat loaf for dinner but then my sister sent me a message, "Stuffed meatloaf and banana bread for dinner tomorrow"....Now that's an offer no one can resist, so my meatloaf might be chili or might just be stuck in the freezer.....

You all have a great rest of the day......

Happy eating...............

Good afternoin!

I am a busy baker right now. Have the two main cakes baked. One is Thomas the Tank Engine and the other is the skirt to a princess doll, which will be Arial, the little mermaid. Also baked the leftover batters into cupcakes. Now to decorate. My kitchen looks like a bomb has gine off! Uggh!

Dinner will be - whatever fits in a bowl, cereal or a bit of leftover chili from last night.

Tomorrow I am making Pioneer Woman's baked ziti recipe. Very similar to a lasagna with out having to layer the noodles, you use penne pasta. Crenda is bringing salad and bread. I am also baking a spaghetti squash, so my niece can has some "noodles" for her sauce. She is so allergic to many foods. I have to scrub down everything before I make the sauce to be sure of no cross contamination. But I love having her over, so it is worth the work.

Irish - was it Dr. Russell M Nelson? He is the president and prophet of the church. He is also a world renown heart surgeon, who pioneered much of the heart surgery in the 50's and 60's. He is a great speaker.

Well, need to get going, frosting, tips and cakescawait,

Enjoy,
Jana
