Good morning,

We are 37' and yesterday was a lot of pouring rain. We're going to be in the 40's and partly sunny. For the next 4 days! Whoo Hoo!! We still have a lot of melting to do. Still using 4WD in our driveway and some parking lots.

Bill finished quilting my Orca at Sea quilt yesterday while I was making him his Valentine/Anniversary dinner. Fair trade, don't you think? Now I just need to bind and label it and it's FINI! Pictures to follow when that is done. I got more work done on my bears. I do love Elizabeth Hartman's patterns! They are unique, look complicated, but the directions are so serial sequential that they are remarkably easy to follow.

TINA - so nice to see you here! We miss you sitting down at the table with us. Did you find your little steaks? How is your dad doing?

JANA - I love that you and Sarah share the same interest in sewing and quilting. Amazing that you were able to gauge your earthquake at 3+! I bet that's one thing you weren't homesick for from your CA life! I still have my JN table topper to do. I have fabric pulled and it's all in a big ziplock, waiting for me to get brave enough. Wish you lived closer!

BECCA - sorry your bloodwork could have been better. But sounds like, as with everything else, you are on top of it! Wishing you nothing but good news when you see your doc next week.

VELDA - thank you, and everyone else, for the anniversary wishes. Bill went to the UPS store to pick up our mail and came home with flowers. I wasn't expecting anything so I was surprised! You really had a fun Valentine's.

IRISH - I'm so sorry about your kitty. I know you know it was the right thing to do, but gosh, it hurts. My Foxy is 2" from my keyboard and sending you his best kitty hug.

CHICKIE - I know you were busy walking and quilting your placemats and table runner yesterday. I will try to post a photo for you. Stand by . . .

Dinner tonite - you guessed it! Lasagna! And we have lots of it! I tried the noodles that you don't have to cook first. They were OK, but I think we both like the regular ones better. But we'll be using these for a while because a box makes two lasagnas. And I forgot I already had a box in the pantry when I bought this one so eat up!! We're in the lasagna business for the long haul!

Good morning :)
Yes, I found little steaks at about $3.50 each and they were delicious! We were all stuffed good last night, first with supper then with Dutch Apple pie ala-mode, Dad really loved it! He was very hungry too because he hasn't eaten all day because he wasn't feeling well and went to the Dr and they wouldn't let him eat till supper. He has an infection in his colon, not good....he had surgery that removed over 18" a few years back, he's now on a super antibiotic.
Chickie, those are awesome, very out-doorsie :)
Frankie has a dentist appointment today so what I was hoping would be a me staying at home day isn't going to work. It's windy and yucky outside.
Not sure what supper will be yet.
Tina

Good morning!

Welcome to the land of excitement! First, earthquakes, of which some are panicking like it is the end of the world. Just a quake barely big enough to feel! Sarah has been calming down mothers who are keeping their kids at home because of the disaster. Sheesh! Then, NOT Ethan's school, but one toward the center of town has a verified cougar sighting and is on lock down. I am near the base of the mountains with lots of cougars in that space, but this sighting is east and south of me. That should be the bigger scare! The joys of nature!

Another snow storm is approaching us. Yesterday it rained all day and melted away my 2 feet of snow in the yard. I can see the grass again, that is until tonight's snow.

Not much here in the house, same old, same old! Laundry, uglies and sewing. Michael is working, on a conference call right now. He and Sarah are going to get wood for her garden boxes after he is done. We have running tabs between us, when she buys things for us and vice versa, so we are paying off our tab, with this wood and using our discount for being a veteran at Home Depot. Herriman has very lousy soil, rocks are the better words, so Sarah is growing her garden in raised boxes. The company she runs, the sod, also sells topsoil and has a machine that blows it from the front yard to the backyard. No hauling many wheelbarrows full of soil! So she gets a huge discount. When the boxes need to be replaced, she will till into the ground the soil from them and then do it all over again in a couple of years. Eventually, she will have great dirt in her garden.

Mary - I have learned to use those no boil sheets, but a trick I learned on Cook's country, was to soak them first in hot water for a few minutes to soften them. That way, all your liquid in your sauce doesn't get absorbed by the noodles. Can't wait to see Orca done, your work is always beautiful!

Tina - hope that Dad's infection gets under control quickly!

Well, dinner, humm..... something boring, to counter all the excitement, chili fits that bill, well maybe.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! After 60 yesterday, we are 24 today, icing mix, and won’t rise above 24 all day. I’m really sick of winter! I want to go to town tomorrow and see Mom, but it may not happen if I can’t get my truck thawed. DH said the roads were slick this morning.

I may have missed here yesterday. I got busy when DH arrived from coffee early. We went out for dinner with friends last evening. Yesterday afternoon I decided to make her a shopping bag using charm squares. I was glad I did; she loved it! We had a fun dinner, and I have leftovers for tonight and baked potatoes for baked potato soup making.

Today I’m going to quilt some pieces for DH to use for the bottom lining in the cedar boxes he is making for the grandkids.

Mary—what a great trade! Quilting for dinner! I love her quilts, but I’ve never made one. Did you see the darling Lori Holt canning jars table runner? It is on Fat Quarter Shop—soooo cute! Sorry you didn’t get the grunge fabric. I noticed in the aforementioned runner kit, the canning jar tops use a dark gray grunge fabric for texture. Happy belated anniversary!

I use regular lasagna noodles but don’t cook them any more. I just add extra liquid, let them set overnight and bake. Seems to work! If I use the gluten free noodles, I don’t cook them, either.

You are right, my neighbor and I took advantage of the nice weather and walked three miles yesterday. Good thing, as I will not be walking today! Thanks for posting the table runners; the dark with the deer silhouettes is the backing of the place mats. I really like the pattern.
Becca—my Saturday morning coffee friend always has potassium issues. Hope you get yours fixed and your white count gets better as well!

Tina—your dinner sounds lovely! I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad’s difficulties. The families are very out-doorsie, hunting, etc. They will love them. The other set has a lighter binding, but the tops are the same.

Jana—are you sending this weather? I’m really sick and tired of it! We are having earthquakes here but not too often. It’s caused by the oil and gas fracking. I knew what they were, but hardly anyone else did. Those cougars can be scary. Thanks for the lasagna noodle tip! Your soil sounds like where I lived in Missouri. Our topsoil was tan dust. Some people moved into our neighborhood from the Garden State (NJ) and couldn’t believe we used pickaxes to try to break up the rocks and plant anything. They soon moved back to New Jersey! We have browner soil here, but it’s not the black Iowa soil, and it’s not the red from Oklahoma although we are close to the border. There are still plenty of rocks for a second crop!

I’m off to my sewing room to quilt for DH. After that, I’ll probably start sandwiching and quilting my DD’s quilt. I’m trying to come up with ideas of how I want to quilt it.

Dinner tonight will be leftovers! Have I mentioned I love leftovers—means I don’t have to cook, and that’s a very good thing!

Bon appétit!

Hello everyone, cloudy here with light rain.I am like Chickie,so ready for Spring.

Maryz Sure The quilt will be a beauty like all your work.So great that Bill helps out.
I’m on potassium pills & eating the right foods.I think what happened to me with the shots really messed me up.Just hope the white count comes up.Been there done that before. No fun.

Velda You did have a busy but fun Valentines.

Tina We sure cant find steak here at that price. Its 4.95 when they have a big sale.Hope Dad gets straightened out soon.

Chickie Those placemats & runner is a beauty.I love your fabric choices. It does remind me of outdoors.Your work is always so neat.

Jana I Too would fear the cougars much more than the earthquake. We had one here about 2 months ago.Wasnt a bad one but it shook my bed.The cougars I would have great respect for & give them distance like I do the bears.

Irish Sure Sorry about your little friend.Leaves a big hole.

I did buy my Sweetheart candy & he gave me flowers. He knows I don’t eat candy. He eats enough for us both.
Dr told me to not be around other people so we are staying put.I also have to wear a mask & gloves if I go out.Just like they told me before when it was low.CA had an appt at optamologist but we cancelled.
It’s ugly day here which isn’t exciting.Im having steak,baked potatoe,carrots & apples.I will eat beets also. Becca

Good evening, last night was another bowl of beans for supper, but tonight I gave myself a break. Stopped by Burger King and got a Crispy Chicken sandwich.

Yesterday we were suppose to get snow again, but it was too warm for snow. We did get a good rain that lasted most of the day and night. Once again we are suppose to get snow again tonight, but have to wait and see if the storm by-passes us.

Chickie, your placemats and table runner are beautiful.

Jana, I never heard of no-boil bags for the noodles. I need to check them out.

Maryz, lasagna sounds really good.

Hi Tina, sorry about Dad's issue. Hope he feels better soon.

Becca, I'll be over in a bit. I'll be praying for you and CA.

Well, I'm going to kick back and unwind for a bit. Have a good evening.

Mary/Rosebud
