Good morning!

JANA - happy birthday to you and to your Sarah! And lucky you - you get to have a white birthday!! I hope you have a wonderful day doing all you love to do! Do you have an Ethan-ism for us today since he spent time with you yesterday? And since it's your birthday, you may have whatever you wish for supper. But I can only assume you explained to Michael our rules and if he wants more catfood, he'll be having to take you out to restaurants.

CHICKIE - I just had to Google your Mr. Lincoln's Watch Quilt. It's beautiful! I think you should do that one next! And how could I forget London Bridge in Lake Havasu City?! We were there on our honeymoon (and several times since). We couldn't find it. Drove all over that town looking for the famed bridge. Well of course, we were expecting the towers! It's just a bridge deck with low railings going over the river. haha! When we finally did locate it, we felt pretty silly, but that didn't stop us from exploring it, walking under it, and eating ice cream cones, wearing shorts and tanks. In February!

BECCA - if you didn't care for the seasonings in the 15-bean soup mix, you can always leave them out and use your own seasonings. It's just convenient to have so many different beans in one small package. We have a lot of dried pinto beans, but we just finished a huge pot of them and I don't think we can face them again soon.

ROSEBUD - I cook my beans in the crockpot. I cook a lot of meals that way. I'm not much in a cooking mood come 5pm!

IRISH - how is Kelly Kitty?

I worked on my Bjorn Bear baby quilt yesterday for our great-nephew who won't be here until August. I can't go much further on that project until I get some grey background fabric which I hope to do after my chiropractor appt today.

Yesterday afternoon I baked some cranberry pecan muffins. They turned out so good, but so many! I froze half of them for later. And after going through some recipes I finally decided on a cheesy ham & potato casserole with a salad for supper. And you can put ditto marks under that for tonite, even though I only made half the recipe.

Hello everyone, sunny here but cold.Decided it was too cold to go out so will go tomorrow for my Blood work for my yearly checkup.

JANA Happy Birthday to you & Sarah.Thats great you can celebrate together.May you both have many more.Sure Ethan is excited about 2 birthdays in one day.
Am anxious to see your outdoor decorations.
Have you followed a plan to lose or just cut back on food?

Maryz I throw away the seasons for the beans.I used a ham bone & chucks of ham in mine.I try to veer away from preservatives.Figure my ham is better .It was tasty.
I googled your little quilt.I love all the bright colors. They had set Theirs together with gray.It shows up your colors good.

Rosebud Sure hope your beans turned out good.

Chickie Do hope the sunshine reaches you today. Its beautiful here but cold.We had lots of wind yesterday & last nite.We had rain all day yesterday. We had a rhodie blow down & it brought down a dogwood. Its at side yard in edge of woods so they can lay until someone comes to cut them.

We just went thru ordeal of trying to do CAs blood work. They have us setup to do it here. With his shaky hands it was a real ordeal to get the blood on a tiny spot on a strip.
Just one of life’s little things to deal with
The flu is so bad here some schools & churches have closed for 1 week. They are warning people to stay in if you have any symptoms.

We are having a burger, chips for him.I don’t want anything but will try some soup.
Becca

Good morning!

Mary and Becca - thank you for the wishes!

Michael has planned out a day for us, but with the weather and Sarah isn't feeling well. She has a dr appointment right when Ethan gets out, we will do part of what he has planned and them more later. We will get Ethan after school for her. That's a good thing, spread it all out! We are going uptown to the Pandora store, a tradition, I get to pick out a couple of beads for my red bracelet. I have a full purple beads bracelet and now the new one is all reds. Then we will have brunch at a swanky Italian resturant in the big shopping mall, named City Creek. It is a very nice mall, built around the actual creek, named City Creek. The creek meanders through the main floor and the mall is open air and you can see the creek the whole time. There are even live fish throughout the creek. The City Creek Mall project was completed about 6 years ago, to revitalize the downtown area. It has. The mall runs two blocks long, over a main road and parallel to Temple Square.

Not much else here, brunch will probably have leftovers, so that will be dinner.

Can't really explain the weight loss, just cut out any goodies and paying attention to portions. No Cheetos, my favorite! Lots of salads too. Having that weight gone, is getting easier to navigate the stairs to the Batt Cave. Clothes are getting too big and my jeans need to be taken in at the waist! I do that with darts in the back waist band. The first big weight loss, about 50 pounds happened when we moved here and I never put them back on. Now, this 30 so far has stayed off too. Next sub goal is about 6 pounds away. It has been many years since I weighed what I do now. I have a jacket I bought, just after Aaron was born, that through the fat years and hoping to wear again, is almost fitting! It will be nice not to have to shop at Omar, the tent makers stores!

Only one Ethanism for you. When he found out about all the Ward changes, we had tears because he no longer would attend church in the same building as Grandma. As we would come in for our meeting, he would see us as he went to Sunday School. That was until, he learned that one of my good friends, that he loves, is now in his Ward. That made it all better. This friend makes fresh warm homemade doughnuts for the neighborhood kids at Halloween. She is tickled to have our Ethan! She also works at the school, so he sees her all the time.

Well, better get going,

Enjoy!
Jana

Good afternoon from a cold, snowy (but getting better), SW. Pa...More snow over night but the roads are clear and the snow will be gone by tomorrow....

A huge Happy Birthday, Jana and Sarah.....I can imagine the fun you're going to have today...Sorry to hear Sarah isn't feeling up to par...Also will be anxious to see your decorations.....

Mary, your part of the country made our news last night...With all the snow, it was quite a pretty sight...Around here, we're beyond getting excited about snow...We've had enough, OK, now it's time to be gone! Although, this is the week we usually had tons of snow...Jim's birthday is on the 15th and when he was little, birthdays were celebrated at his Grandmother's but most of the time, there was too much snow for his and he missed out..
My Kelly will be going to the Vet tomorrow and it's going to be hard but it's time...Kelly was one of the ferals I had trapped, practically lived in a cage with, until she was tame and ready for her forever home..But, when it came to show her, I couldn't give her up and made her completely mine...In the 14 years since I've had her, the only time, she's been in a carrier was to go be spayed, and she's never been outside in all that time...Although, I've not been able to pick her up and hold her until now, she's been my perfect little angel and certainly will be missed....

I'm not going to be able to stay and chat...Not sure what I'm going to be doing today, probably nothing productive...New resolution, starting next week, turning over a new leaf, maybe.....

BUT, one good thing to report....We have an egg in the eagle nest near me...Momma eagle didn't let the cold, snow or wind stop her from doing her thing...Now to wait and see if we get another 1 or maybe 2 more eggs this year...There have been quite a few new eagle nest spotted in the area which is great.....

As for dinner, maybe some soup, maybe that poached egg that didn't get made the other night....

You all have a good rest of the day, stay warm, stay safe....

Happy eating........

Happy GALentines Day! Happy Birthday Jana and Sarah!!! I’m sure you are enjoying every minute, and you should celebrate at least a week!

Sorry I’m late. The day got away from me after yoga practice, and I didn’t get here until now. After brunch, my neighbor and I walked 2+ miles and walked Ava along the way. She is loving getting out to play with the Hooligans as well as Debby’s dogs, Ozzie and Luna. Ozzie is a Great Pyrenees, and Ava is a little Silkie. They are so funny as they love playing together. The wind today was strong. It was hard to walk into it. Most of our walk was with a cross wind; no way to keep in a straight line!

Can you believe it! We are almost 60 today, 60 tomorrow, and only 24 on Friday with “wintry mix”. Oh, I do hate the cold weather after the warm!

MaryZ—I still have projects to complete before I start Mr. Lincoln’s Watch. I got the kit from a shop that was quitting business because the owner was ill. I also have another kit from them. Don’t ask me what at the moment. We were at Lake Havasu early in the morning just a few months after The Bridge had been assembled there. And, it was in July! We were kind of hurrying to get to family in California, so we didn’t get to spend a lot of time wandering around. It would be fun to go again! I love the gray grunge fabrics! Just saying. It has texture, but it’s subtle.

Irish—I’m beyond getting excited about “wintry mix” here, either! Oh, my heart goes out to you having to part with Kelly. Hugs!!! Hey, we are retired… don’t put your back out turning over those new leaves! They can turn on their own if the wind blows the right way. Meanwhile… it’s not unproductive to be thinking about new projects and reading or lowering your BP by petting kitties.

Jana—sorry Sarah isn’t feeling well on her birthday! Oh, Pandora! I bet it’s beautiful! My sister has several different colored bracelets and several all silver ones. Your day sounds lovely! And… Italian dinner out! Enjoy!!! So proud of your weight loss!!! Congratulations!!! You are doing wonderfully! Slow and steady wins the weight loss battle! Oh, poor Ethan! So glad he has a special angel to take care of him when you can’t!

Becca—I don’t use the seasoning packet too often, either. Oh, so sorry your wind did damage to the beautiful flowering trees and bushes! That’s sad!!! I hope you feel better!

Today is my DD’s engagement anniversary. 1993. They were married on Memorial weekend… the same year! I didn’t have much time to work, build our house, plan all the wedding, address the invitations, make the bridal gown, bridesmaids’ dresses, and move to our house out of her house before they got married as they were living in her house and selling his. It was a very fast few months!

Dinner tonight… soup with chicken cut up in it. DH really liked it last night. I didn’t tell him what’s in the soup. I also have banana bread in the over. It’s starting to smell delightful! We also have a water district meeting tonight.

Bon appétit!
