Good morning!

Yes, we got out if Mexico! And no long line at the gate! Only about a dozen people. The fastest border crossing we’ve ever had. Last time we waited a half hour in line but we have waited as much as two hours in past years.

As soon as we got back to the trailer, we hitched up and headed north to Quartzsite where we are now. My sister is still with us but they leave to go back to Colorado tomorrow. We went into town to “silly al’s” For pizza. Bill put us on Facebook. Then we sat around the campfire until after dark. Quartzsite is a flea market town. There are about 800 permanent residents here but thousands and thousands of people come every winter, mostly this week because they have a big RV show. We didn’t come for the show but just happen to be here at this time. Almost all of the town is one giant flea market. There are tons of RV parks but we park out on the desert as do about 75% of the visitors.

Our good friends that we were parked next to in Georgetown for two months were here. We texted them to come find us last night and share our campfire since we were burning the firewood they had left us. Funny thing-they left yesterday from here to go to Yuma and we came from Yuma to here! We came up the California side of the Colorado River and they Drove south on the AZ side. So we missed them.

Today we will walk around town, look for bargains that we can’t resist, and hopefully be leaving tomorrow morning to start our last leg-four days to get home.

Glad you enjoyed the play! I Always prefer a live production to a movie. Though I have only seen about 5 plays in my life. you are Almost off to the sunshine! Where in FL are you going? Will you see Gin again?

Tina, thx for getting SC up yesterday. Happy birthday to Frankie! Sorry about poor Easton.

Becca, I hit the used book stall in Yuma’s famed flea market, aka, Market Place. I stocked up! I’ve read about 18 books since we left home.

Chickie, you are a popsicle!! Brrr!! Your friend will love her quilt! Did you take a finished photo?

Jana, youRe cold too!! Your Valentine decorations sound so nice! I can’t wait to put out my few Valentine things, hopefully NEXT WEEK. But first I will have to take down all the fall and Halloween things I left up at home!

My sister is making dinner tonight. Smoked pork chops, scalloped potatoes, and peas.

Hello traveling Mary. Sounds quite interesting to camp in the dessert. I remember seeing pictures in hubby's magazine. You will be home very soon now and back to your sewing studio and all your stash. I am taking my machine to San Antonio on Saturday morning. Praying that it will be just an adjustment so I can bring it back home and get busy sewing again. I am working on my hexi project to keep me busy.
I made a big meat loaf yesterday, so I think left overs will be on the menu tonight.
Have a great day.
Velda

Good early afternoon from a very snowy, wintery, and if it was the 1st snow, pretty, SW. Pa.....
Got up this morning anxious to go out and do some errands and then my doctor's appointment only to find it snowing and still snowing...We are to get to about 40 today so, hopefully, the snow will melt and I can still get out...Can't leave town until I get to the bank!

Mary, glad to hear you're back on this side of the border...Also glad to hear, we didn't need to dig into the "fund", I might be needing it in the next week....Your "flea market" town reminded me of one of our trips to N. Carolina to see Terry...It was Labor Day weekend and one of the towns had their annual flea market...Miles and miles of tables set up along the way....Everyone's yards were decorated and it was flea market heaven...BUT, the then grumpy DH only wanted to get through town and get to Terry's....Years ago, Jim was known for driving in the fast lane to avoid having to pull over at my requests...It took years of training to get him to understand the importance of keeping me happy, lol....Miss those days, very much.....
Hopefully, we will leave on Sat. probably after the plane gets deiced...Will be flying into Ft. Myers but then going 45 minutes south to Naples...I'm sure we'll visit with Gin and there's so many of my favorite haunts in Ft. Myers I want to show the gals...Have a flight scheduled home but that is subject to change...As long as I have the neighbor next door and enough cat foot in the house, we're OK....

Becca, I love, love books and right now, should be banned from the Library, well maybe after I pick up the books I have on reserve, lol....There's nothing like curling up with that good book to "escape" from reality for awhile.....I guess I should try the audio but there's something about having that actual book in my hand.....If you like sort of scary books, read the one Chickie and I read, Woman in Cabin 10, by Mary Ware (but not if you're going on a cruise).....Also, have you checked out the forum about books?

Chickie, are we going to have to rename you to Popsicle? When I hear about the weather everyone else is having, I guess our's is really mild....But, today is really pretty and will be much prettier once it's gone....

I am working on my Irish chains and have decided to embroider shamrocks on each of the white blocks...so far I only have 2 done with many, many more to go but that's a project to take with me if by chance I have some free time....

As I said, I'm going to pull on my big girl pants, find my boots, brave the elements and fight the crowds at Walmart, Library and the bank...As far as the doctor, I rescheduled and hopefully, it won't be a snowy day.....

You all have a great day, stay warm, stay safe....

Happy eating..............

And I'm thinking for dinner, really don't have any leftover so I might just see how well trained Ruby is...

Good morning! The pond has a heavier glaze of ice, and the birds were lined up ready for their daily rations. It’s quite a feeding frenzy with the cardinals, blue jays, downy woodpeckers, redbellied woodpeckers, purple finches, house finches, tufted titmice, goldfinches, sparrows of all varieties, and juncos. I probably missed some. It’s very colorful. There are also a couple of very fat squirrels that commandeer the feeders several times a day. We won’t be out of freezing today, and the wind chills will be brutal. I’ll decide later if we walk to Ava’s.

Mary—that’s funny about your and your friends missing each other buy hours. Glad you made it out of Mexico. Have fun flea market shopping! Sounds like you have a fun time planned.

Guess what—I forgot to take a finished pic of the quilt. I realized after it was all taped and ready to go.

DH came back from coffee early, so my session with you ended as I made brunch. After brunch, we went and walked Ava. DH walked with me. It was cold!!! The 34 degrees temperature didn’t seem that bad when I looked it up, but the 25 degree wind chill felt MUCH colder. The wind went right through my flannel-lined jeans! Now I have a big cup of hot coffee as I chat with you.

We had some lousy news—one of our friends passed away. His wife graduated with us from high school. Services are next week.

Becca—so glad the sun is out for you! We have had so much rain; there are pastures and fields with water standing, and the roads are still so muddy. I’ve loved reading ever since I can remember. I used to skate the 4 blocks down the hill to Mission Street in San Francisco and get my allotment of books and skate back up the hill. Some days I’d read all my books and skate back for more. I’ve always been able to escape into my books.

Irish—I’m glad we didn’t have to bribe the authorities to let Mary and Bill back across the border, too! LOL! You ladies will be having so much fun in Florida! Eat lots of fresh produce for me! Our stores’ produce aisles are either empty or the produce is next to “must go” and “should have gone.” It’s really depressing. The oranges here are deplorable quality and expensive. Have a safe trip!!! They have one of those 100-mile yard sales over in the next county and into Oklahoma. A friend and I went once. One of our hunters, Matthew, owns Fancy’s a Ft. Myers restaurant. It’s really nice if you ladies are exploring new haunts. We had a bunch of plates and sampled each other’s entrees. There was nothing that wasn’t delicious. I have another book for you to reserve… “The Book of Polly” by Kathy Hepinstall. It’s another one of my DDIL’s book club selections. I laughed and cried. It was a fun read. Description on back cover: “With a kick like the best hot sauce, the laugh-out-loud story of a girl determined to keep up with her aging, crazy-as-a-fox mother.” It’s set in Texas and Louisiana—a little townie, a lot redneck. Hopefully you don’t have too many crowds to fight… I hope Ruby is getting trained for Subway, Panera, any yummy place back there…

Vel—best of luck with your machine! I love meat loaf and seldom make it for some reason. Meat loaf sandwiches are always good—open face or cold with lots of mustard and pickles!

Dinner tonight… I need to find something for DH. I still have some cabbage soup, but I might make something else for the two of us.

Bon appétit!
