SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Jan 4th

Good morning!
The rain is gone!! 61* today!! Whoo Hoo! But it's coming back next Tuesday. So we are checking out of here Tuesday and going to Bastrop, 2 hrs SE of here, where it's a little better weather. We were going there anyway on Friday to camp for 3 nights with Cindy and her DH. Plus, leaving here, nice as it is, is the first step in going home and I'm all for that!
My sewing class yesterday was really great! My 'student' was 13 yrs old, about 8" taller than I, and LOVES sewing! She picked up everything the first time I showed her. She has access to sewing machines at home but didn't know how to use them. Now she does. And she knows how to read and cut out a pattern, sew seams, do elastic waistbands, and blind hem on the machine. In 3-1/2 hrs she finished her jammie pants and they fit her perfectly. She was so proud and I was proud of her. And then I gave Autumn my Janome that I have traveled with in the past because now I travel with my old Bernie since we bought the new Bernie a few months back.
Today I plan to start cutting out my second Farm Girl Vintage because my sister somehow ended up with my first one. It worked well to cut out the VC blocks and put them into labeled baggies, so I'm going to do that again with this project. I don't want to get out my machine as it's a hassle, takes up all the table, and we are moving in a few days.
CHICKIE - I love reading, too, so I almost always have an audio book going at home when I sew, clean, garden, etc. That way I can do both! But I do have to turn the book off when I have to really concentrate on a pattern until I get it down. I also use instant potatoes to thicken soups and stew. Your birds really know how to work 'the system! The 'system' being you. LOL! I'm saddened to hear that 'our' LQS is starting to cut back.
SHIRLEY MAE - NM has had some wicked weather! We've been watching it as my sister and DBIL will be coming through the state from CO to meet us in Deming by Jan 16. Weather may cancel their plans. I hope you and Rod have soon seen the last of that flu. I have a small Biowave generator. It hooks onto my jeans waistband and attaches to my chest with two leads. It has various chips (I have about 30 but over 70 are available) for a myriad of ailments, conditions, and diseases. I've been taking a lot of pain pills for my hip and seeing chiropractor. I decided to try the arthritis chip and it REALLY helped a lot. There is a nausea chip, eye, skin, Parkinsons, diabetes, fibromyalgia, cancer, virus, cholesterol, and so many more. The machine runs each chip from 45 to 90 minutes. It's amazing, but it works. Runs on two AA batteries.
BECCA - I do hope CA is doing better soon. My SIL had to do all the driving for the last 15 years of my brother's life. That included their motorhome. It wasn't the disease that kept him from driving, but the hallucinations that his Parkinson's meds caused. He kept seeing things like an elk darting out in front of the vehicle. It got tiresome for her to always have to drive, but when there's no choice, you just do it. As you know.
JANA - what job did Stu get? Did I see you mention Coast Guard a few days ago? What about school? Too bad about his car. I really don't understand the mentality of criminals. Some people are simply born without a conscience. Your Skinnies are so cute!
TINA - glad you are feeling better. Good enough to sew? and glad your turtles aren't struggling under ice. Or do you chop the ice for them?
We didn't have our mac & cheese last night. Our good friends are leaving this morning so we all went out to supper last night. That wasn't planned until yesterday afternoon. So tonite will be the mac & cheese and a green salad.
