Good morning!

The rain is gone!! 61* today!! Whoo Hoo! But it's coming back next Tuesday. So we are checking out of here Tuesday and going to Bastrop, 2 hrs SE of here, where it's a little better weather. We were going there anyway on Friday to camp for 3 nights with Cindy and her DH. Plus, leaving here, nice as it is, is the first step in going home and I'm all for that!

My sewing class yesterday was really great! My 'student' was 13 yrs old, about 8" taller than I, and LOVES sewing! She picked up everything the first time I showed her. She has access to sewing machines at home but didn't know how to use them. Now she does. And she knows how to read and cut out a pattern, sew seams, do elastic waistbands, and blind hem on the machine. In 3-1/2 hrs she finished her jammie pants and they fit her perfectly. She was so proud and I was proud of her. And then I gave Autumn my Janome that I have traveled with in the past because now I travel with my old Bernie since we bought the new Bernie a few months back.

Today I plan to start cutting out my second Farm Girl Vintage because my sister somehow ended up with my first one. It worked well to cut out the VC blocks and put them into labeled baggies, so I'm going to do that again with this project. I don't want to get out my machine as it's a hassle, takes up all the table, and we are moving in a few days.

CHICKIE - I love reading, too, so I almost always have an audio book going at home when I sew, clean, garden, etc. That way I can do both! But I do have to turn the book off when I have to really concentrate on a pattern until I get it down. I also use instant potatoes to thicken soups and stew. Your birds really know how to work 'the system! The 'system' being you. LOL! I'm saddened to hear that 'our' LQS is starting to cut back.

SHIRLEY MAE - NM has had some wicked weather! We've been watching it as my sister and DBIL will be coming through the state from CO to meet us in Deming by Jan 16. Weather may cancel their plans. I hope you and Rod have soon seen the last of that flu. I have a small Biowave generator. It hooks onto my jeans waistband and attaches to my chest with two leads. It has various chips (I have about 30 but over 70 are available) for a myriad of ailments, conditions, and diseases. I've been taking a lot of pain pills for my hip and seeing chiropractor. I decided to try the arthritis chip and it REALLY helped a lot. There is a nausea chip, eye, skin, Parkinsons, diabetes, fibromyalgia, cancer, virus, cholesterol, and so many more. The machine runs each chip from 45 to 90 minutes. It's amazing, but it works. Runs on two AA batteries.

BECCA - I do hope CA is doing better soon. My SIL had to do all the driving for the last 15 years of my brother's life. That included their motorhome. It wasn't the disease that kept him from driving, but the hallucinations that his Parkinson's meds caused. He kept seeing things like an elk darting out in front of the vehicle. It got tiresome for her to always have to drive, but when there's no choice, you just do it. As you know.

JANA - what job did Stu get? Did I see you mention Coast Guard a few days ago? What about school? Too bad about his car. I really don't understand the mentality of criminals. Some people are simply born without a conscience. Your Skinnies are so cute!

TINA - glad you are feeling better. Good enough to sew? and glad your turtles aren't struggling under ice. Or do you chop the ice for them?

We didn't have our mac & cheese last night. Our good friends are leaving this morning so we all went out to supper last night. That wasn't planned until yesterday afternoon. So tonite will be the mac & cheese and a green salad.

Good morning! We are partly sunny after a night of rain. You should have seen my floors this morning! I worked an hour on them before I could do my yoga practice. At least I was limbered up from the mops before I hit the mats. We are going for 50 this afternoon!

Shirley Mae—sorry the flu hit your home, too! That pain biofeedback sounds interesting. Good luck with it!

Becca—sorry for the change in appointments. It’s so frustrating when you have your week planned. Tomorrow is “my” day in town. The Hooligans and I usually ride with DH—especially if he has to go to the bank! The Hooligans sit and lick their lips when we drive up to the window. They know there will be treats for them. If DH goes by himself, the girls at the bank usually send treats home with him. My Hooligans are so spoiled!

Jana—I love your skinnies! DH made some hangers for me using wire and dowels. Oh, poor Stu!!! He sure didn’t need a break-in on top of a new job.

Tina—hope you are feeling better! I definitely used ice packs when I hurt my knee(s). Hope you warm up! That frozen fog is beautiful; we have it here every so often.

Mary—I knew you had to be an excellent teacher. Sounds like you had an eager pupil and have opened up a lot of creativity in her! I’ve never had audio books; I can imagine that I’d forget everything when I listened. Kinda like when I read… I’ve never heard of your Biowave generator. Very interesting!

Everything is spoiled here. Pocket Lint comes to the gate and begs. We have a big cow who comes over the cattle guard, hangs in the yard and around the house until I take a bucket of range cubes out to Pocket Lint, and she follows eagerly to get some, too. It’s really crazy here! Birds, cattle, dogs, DH! I must really be a soft touch.

Today I think I’m going to make a quilt for a friend with recurring breast cancer. She is currently in a clinical trial. I don’t know why I didn’t think of making her a quilt ages ago! We have been friends since junior high, although now we exchange letters at Christmas. She lives in AZ.

I made it into my sewing room yesterday and cleaned most of my cutting table off and corralled most of my scraps. Still a lot of stuff to organize and put away, but I think I'll do my friend's quilt first. My cousin will understand that I didn't start on his quilt repair, and I haven't finished DD's Christmas throw; she will have it later for next year!

Dinner tonight… I think I can find some leftovers. Tomorrow night we are meeting friends to celebrate her birthday, so no cooking!

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

As Pwaul Harvey would say, and now the rest of the story - Stu was the culprit of the trunk. He sat on his key fob and set off the alarm on his car. Not looking, he just pushed a button, which opened the trunk, and finally he got the right button to turn off the alarm, not realizing the trunk was open. When Sarah went to work, the next morning, she knew nothing of what happened the night before, so assumed the car was broken into. Nothing missing and now the car is cleaned out. Stu has struggled with school, so has leaned towards the Coast Guard. He needs to cut a couple of seconds off his running the mile time, then will enlist. He is hoping early spring to go. He will be working full time, day shift at the Wendy's here in town. He didn't want to have a employer train him, thinking he would be at a job for a long time, only to have him leave in a couple of months, so he went this route.

I started the Valentine skinnie, but the background fabric is too busy to see the hearts, so I will change that for a simple background today.

Not much else here. Dinner is a faint thought in the back of my brain.

Stay warm!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from dreary but getting brighter, chilly but getting warmer, SW. Pa....We're going to have a heat wave, going up to close to 50....

Mary, what a lucky student that young lady was to have you as a teacher.....You've pointed her in the right direction and can you imagine what all she'll be making....I too have never heard about your Biowave generator...That does sound interesting....

Chickie, love to hear about all your spoiled "fur kids"...But, you know, why not spoil them, they deserve a good life....Yesterday, I picked up 5 books I had on reserve at the Library and also checked to see if they had your Ruth Ware book...That's on my list for the next time...I've never had audio books either, but then I usually do most of my ready at night, when I'm in bed and I've always had this thing about "the need" for an actual book in my hand...Now, while reading a hard back, that actual book does hit hard if you fall asleep while reading it.....

I'm not going to be able to stay and chat....Already, I'm way behind...I'm meeting friends and we're going to a High Tea in Pittsburgh....This will be completely different than our usual "meeting of the minds" at our weekly lunches but looking forward to it.....Just have to make sure the "pinkie finger" is sticking out when I have that cup of tea.....

Also need to make a funeral home visit and then Nick is stopping down this evening....He's leaving for NC in the morning and we might not see him until Spring break....He's such a good guy, really going to miss him....

Not sure if I'll be having dinner tonight unless Nick wants something.....

You all have a great day.......

Happy eating..............

Hi all. How great that you get to meet up with Cindyg. That will be fun.
Chickie: I like how you call the kids hooligans. So cute. We do get them spoiled so easily.
Irish: enjoy high tea. Not sure what that means :)
My dinner is spaghetti tonight. Always an easy one

Becca, I cheat, big time. My sauce if from jar, then I tweak it a bit with 1/2 to 3/4 tsp sugar to take the tartness out.

Hi everyone!
I think I'm jinxed! Or need to be put in bubble wrap, ugh. I was giving Dad a hug last night when he was leaving and then I turned and took a step right when my kitty Winnie decided to roll on the floor in front and under my foot! I stepped on her tail then however I moved quickly I really hurt my foot! It hurt me all last night and I can barely walk on it. I can't let my big toe bend upward, ugh...I think I'm an accident waiting to happen lately. I'm going to see if I still have my boot thing from my foot surgery and see if it helps.
We're in the low 50's today, it's beautiful!
Supper is leftovers hopefully.
