Supper club - Sat, Dec 29
Good morning!
Only 3 more sleeps left in 2018! This year has been a real mixed bag for our family. My brother, Albert, went through so much in the first 3 months, but survived! Ditto his son, Jeff with his brain tumor. But we lost Bill's brother, Mike. And my oldest brother, Gene, watched his wife decline with Alzheimers to the point she had to move in with their DD because she is so angry and violent with my brother. His heart is breaking. But we had good things happen, too. Albert and Jeff survived! We've been able to travel and camp a lot this year. and my son's book was accepted by a publisher. So you see - mixed bag. No complaints.
Sewing on Vintage Christmas continues. 14 blocks to go. I've gotten kind of obesessive about it - I'm bummed because we have to take time out of my sewing hours to take Scottie to Pet Smart for a wash and trim and then go to Washatopia. Decided to deal with all the dirties in one trip today. Will probably do grocery shopping, too. But I'll get in a couple of hours at the sewing machine this afternoon. I think.
JANA - You ARE NOT dumb or stupid! When it comes to electronic's I just tell myself I have other talents that geeks don't have! We can't all be whizzes at everything! I'm sure once you are accustomed to your phone it will come quickly, though. But weren't you texting with me years ago when we were coming over '70, snowstorm and darkness pushing us, and you told us about that shortcut into - was it Spanish Fork? Spring Something? Anyway, you got this!!
IRISH - such a sad story about Romeo and Juliet. But you know, that story never ended well. They should have named those poor eagles Lucy and Ricky instead. Or Fred and Wilma. But happy about Harriet and #12-H (or whatever her hubby's name is) and their offspring. Nice that Nick wants to see his mom. It does no good for him to be burdened with bitterness. He's a sweetie for sure! I'm anxious to hear what Gin's family says. If driver was on the phone, that is considered as impaired as drunk driving.
BECCA - That's a lot of wildlife you and CA have been chasing. And yet, if you moved, you would miss them! I think those squirrels are trying to tell you something with all their digging - keep those peanuts coming!! Is your DGS a first responder as well as a minister? Or a chaplain for 911?
TINA - so you stinked up Walmart!! Good on you!! and please try to rid yourself of your snow - at least on the roads - before Jan 16th, when we'll be in town. Depending on weather (we saw news of LOTS of snow on I-25 up near Santa Fe) my sis and DBIL from CO will meet us in Deming that day and then head west with us.
CHICKIE - glad you are improving. Any bruising starting to show? If you go through the 'work', you want the blue "ribbon" to show off!
Last night's spaghetti morphed into quickly gobbled hot dogs done in the microwave. (hey! I never claimed to be a gourmet cook! Don't judge!) We had been going to do them around a mid-afternoon campfire and invite the usual suspects (David, Don, and the Lindas) but it was too cold. Then David & Linda invited us to play games in their RV instead, so we hurried and ate our 'dogs Since they were thawed. We didn't share because Linda is on special medical diet and couldn't eat them and said David couldn't either because she had their supper planned. So tonite we'll be having spaghetti. I promise!
As an odd note, the third couple that will be joining us on NYE is also a David and Linda! and if I'd been a boy, I would have been a David, too!

Good morning!
Mary - it was Matt giving you the directions into Spanish Fork that time, so you could be ahead of the snowstorm to get home. He is a superhero in my book!
Well, in fixing the phone, we passworded my tablet accidently, so now that is fixed too. All is good!
Not much here, the Batt Cave is clean and so after a trip to the store for some baskets that will fit on freezer shelves, I will transfer food and organize Fred and Ethel. We need to ho out and get fresh veggies and milk and a Saturday paper, so will make it a traipse and stop for storage baskets and fabric from my LQS. I put this year's webinar with El's quilt on the design wall. I am following one of the girl's layout from here, so need some more fabric for a inner border. Looks really good on the wall. I am tweaking the copied layout slightly.
Today will be tortilla soup. And it is already cooked! Just thaw, heat and eat! Now with more space in the freezers, I can do a few more soups as well.
Enjoy!
Jana

Re: Supper club - Sat, Dec 29
Good afternoon from a very cold, dreary, SW. Pa...I'm not sure of the temps but anything below 45 (to me)is very cold....
My heavens Mary, you are whipping through those blocks but then that's nothing unusual for you...Isn't it funny about names...When are kids were dating, of course we had a Kathy, young Jim had a son named Kevin, who was "little Kevin" to our "Big Kevin" who turned out to be bigger than Big Kevin, Chris married a Kathy, Kevin dated a Cindy, married a different Cindy and Terry dated a Kathy and then did marry a Theresa....And of course our Kathy, married a Tim and 30 years later, married a 2nd Tim, whose 1st wife was also a Kathy....Now that you all have that straight, there will be a test.....
I have 4 friends that are Linda's and one could be Chickie's twin.....
And then I used to wonder why my Mom would get the kids mixed up????
Mary, like your's, our year was a mixed bag...Of course with Jim passing, that really hit hard, then being sick, my sister's DH passing and so many other funerals BUT, Stephan and Christine were married,DGD, Jackie got engaged and our baby Lena came into the world and has brought so much love and joy, now another DGS is engaged and (knock on wood), I'm feeling good and able to travel, I'm really blessed...One wish I would have had, was for Jim to be able to hold little Lena but she'll always have her PapPap watching over her, keeping her safe.....
Jana, I also would never, ever think of you as stupid (I dislike that word)...To hear the things that you have accomplished, anything but "that word"....I do believe and when you reach my age, we should not be subject to things with so many gadgets, buttons or even instruction booklets...I know I would not survive if I didn't have the grand kids to "carry" me along...I sometimes wonder what they think when I look at them with that "deer in the headlight" look.....
Not too much happening in this neighborhood, nice and quiet...I had vowed I was not leaving the house until next year but had a call from Kathy in Reno, telling me, Dan who is in Carlisle visiting Cari, has packages sitting on his front porch and would I check on them....So bright and early, well, not so bright and not so early, I played "Porch Pirate", pulled in his driveway, left the car running and picked up his packages and made my get away....The boxes are big and they are bed pillows...I think if they're those My Pillows, they might just be mine, lol.....
Just need to run the vacuum in the living room and then I'm ready for THE GAME! I have a feeling, Jim and his buddies are all lines up on the bench up in Heaven and are so pumped.....And then tonight, the Penguins will be on so I have a full schedule....
Also have a feeling, since I had a late lunch, it just might be a bag of popcorn watching a game.....
You all have a great rest of the day....
Happy eating...............

Hi everyone
Mary, you're going to be finished before the sew along is, you go girl! How cool that your sister is coming to Deming too! Will we get to meet them?
Jazmyne stayed the night and is again tonight. We went and listened to my little brother at the winery last night, it was pretty good. I got to hear him sing, he sings pretty darn good! Today was un-decorating inside. We got it all done and Jazmyne dusted and I vacuumed and mopped, it's about back to normal, just laundry and bathrooms left for tomorrow and I've got to pay bills too. Today was a rough day, it was 1 year ago that we had to take Mom off of life support and we lost her. Dad was having a rough day too. He got 2 great grands for the day to help him get through and I got Jazz and kept busy doing the house.
We've been so cold all day, I think our high on our outside thermometer said 27, we've stayed inside all day except Frankie went out to take care of animals a couple times.
Our leftovers have run out and even soup I made on Wednesday. Tomorrow will be new foods, hopefully something that warms the house up. Our pellet stove has been working overtime....at least we're staying warm.
