Supper club Saturday, nov 10
Good morning
We did make it to Black Mesa Casino yesterday. That sounds like something out of a Louis A’mour novel, doesn’t it. It’s a great place to spend a couple nights. We did eat in the casino cafe. At least we went and got food from there and brought it back to the trailer. Have to say, it was pretty bad but then it was also pretty cheap. There are 45 RV parking sites here and only six RVs so we weren’t crowded. But turns out there is also a big truck parking close by and that WAS crowded. And some of them never shut the engines off.
Today we are going to explore the area a little. Maybe I can find a quilt shop in town. If we could find town! We are really out in the middle of the high desert with nothing else around.
Becca, Thanksgiving with your family sounds ideal! My family was small and with Autumn in texas it’s even smaller. I love huge Noisey Busy Thanksgivings.
Chickie, how was the wedding shower? And the wedding is coming up soon isn’t it? Mid December?
Tina, at this point, we are still on track for Sunday evening. Was so weird at my sisters for supper a few days ago. Out of all the wineries in a country they had a wine from your winery near your house!
Pam, your appleslaw sounds awesome. I bet it would be good with Craisins and walnuts in it. Does WW approval of them?
Jana, we have been getting a lot of news, even here in the sticks, about those fires. What happened at the hospital evac, do you know yet? I suppose Daniel is kind of busy and doesn’t have time to call his mom
Irish, how’s all the house stuff going?
I’m not sure what we will do for supper tonight. Almost certainly we wont be eating from the casino café again. I have things in the freezer - spaghetti sauce, beans and ham, chili. All it needs is To thaw and heat. I also have meat in there but it’s such a big deal for Bill to unpack the grill that we are saving them until we settle in Texas.
Oh as for our arrival date in Texas, we expect next Wednesday. We will see how the trip goes. It could be Tuesday. There is a lot of Texas with nothing in it. And few places to stop for the night which will dictate how many days we’ll take to get from Deming to Georgetown.

Good afternoon from cold, dreary SW. Pa...So far we haven't seen any of that white stuff flying around which is good....
But, just checking in and then running out....On my way to Carlisle to pick up Kathy, come back tomorrow and then take her to the airport tomorrow night....This will be my 9th trip to the airport and hopefully, the next time, I can actually get on a plane and head south.....
Of course, I get to get my baby Lena fix today as well...It's really going to be hard for Kathy to leave her but she did say, she'll be back in Feb.....By then Lena might be walking!
As for our dinner, we will be having pizza and I baked a pumpkin pie for afters....So, off I go.....
Grammy's coming, Lena......
You all have a great day....
Happy eating...............

Here I am! When I left the house this morning to go to the grocery store, It was 17 degrees. It took me forever to warm the truck and get the windshield warm enough to actually scrape the thick frost so I could have a hole to see through. If I still worked, my truck would have a garage!!! I wouldn't do ice scraping every morning! When I left Mom’s, it was 35 degrees.
Had a great lunch with Mom today—tortilla soup from a local restaurant. I asked her what she wanted, and then I went for it. We looked at pictures from the party on the electronic picture frame, and I finished reading her cards. She heard from so many old friends who were unable to attend, and they all had such wonderful memories.
The wedding shower was really nice! There were at least 75 in attendance at the “hen party.” Brynn and Jake received loads of wonderful gifts. Brynn made a special visit to our table later to tell me how much she loved the place mats, napkins and runner. She said she was putting them on the table as soon as she got back home. They had a DIY nachos bar for refreshments along with hot chocolate and cupcakes. It was a fun evening. The wedding is December 15. I must make a ton of mints for it!!! Oh, I also received quite a few compliments on the calligraphy on the invitation envelopes.
Mary—sounds like a beautiful area! Sorry the food was less than stellar. I thought Casinos were supposed to have good food. I know those big trucks run their diesel and refrigerated trailers 24/7. It can get a little loud. I would vote to find a hole-in-the-wall café in town for dinner!
Irish—there you are! Our snow quit, but it is in the forecast for Monday or Tuesday. That’s a lot of airport runs!!! Yes, you need to make it YOUR run! I bet you will be seeing Kathy every chance she gets to see that baby! Dinner sounds yummily!
We’ll be having fajitas. I have steak from Thursday night’s dinner, peppers, onions, and the rest… There’s some pear cake for afters.
Bon appétit!

Good afternoon!
Dinner has changed several times today. It is now leftover noodles from yesterday. Tomorrow, Aaron, Kate, Gracie and Lila invited themselves to dinner. Ethan will be here too. Spaghetti and meatballs. Cornbread and lemon meringue pie as well. I am rather pleased with myself. Weighed me and found ten pounds of me missing. I am not going to look for them! They can stay lost!
No new word on Daniel. I knew he was deployed to the Chico area and the latest report on the Calfire website stated that the fire was stopped before it got to the city limits. I like to think that my Daniel had a hand in that. Calfire is saying total containment will be about November 30th. Daniel can only stay on the fireline for two weeks at a time, by Calfire rules, so he will be home before that.
Mary - sorry the food was terrible. We would stop sometimes on our way home to California at the Nugget Casino for dinner at their buffet, good at first, but must have changed cooks as it was terrible the last couple of times. Enjoy the open spaces on your way, there are not too many left!
Irish - that's a lot of trips to the airport! But baby Lena time is the best! Those chubby cheeks make for leaving the best lip prints! Lila will be here tomorrow and Grandma is doing just that!
Chickie - the hen party sounded great! So happy that she is a thoughtful bride and made sure to tell you about the gift. Mom will be basking in all the memories for a long time!
Well, time to get something done - Michael finally got the rest of the water removed from the irrigation system. Good thing, since we are below freezing most of the time now.
Enjoy,
Jana
