Good morning!

Tina, glad you got to see SUE, Kenn, and Mr. Montgomery. He is such a cutie. He and Scotty hung out together when we camped with them last summer. Until Mr. M sniffed something inappropriately and Scotty objected . Lol!

Chickie, glad the party went so well. We have blackberry cobbler with our pizza last night too.

Irish,, you are with that baby, wearing out your smoocher!

Carole, What a treat to find you at the table! And with a tasty, easy recipe. So sorry to hear about Ken’s back. Is this new problem, part of the old problem, Result of bad surgery? I am getting that nobody seems to know. Please tell him we send a howdy and wishes that this too shall soon pass He must be in a lot of pain

Velda, will you get to Port Aransas today?

Becca, what’s on your plate today? Literally and figuratively.

Pam, Bill won’t eat Greek yogurt. He doesn’t like the texture. But I like it!

Shirley Mae, thanks for the weather tips. We have weather apps on our phones and consult them frequently, especially when traveling.

Not sure about dinner tonight. My younger sister is sick so we may just take my older sister and DBIL out for Mexican. My younger sis visited her mother in law in Nebraska for the weekend and thinks she got food poisoning. She told me “if anyone offers you hummingbird cake, don’t take it!“ I couldn’t help but think of all the mentions of that special dessert in our supper club! LOL

Good morning!

I have been tryingbto get here for a few days. Life gets in the way! Silly life!

Not much here. Cold, windy, and maybe rain, maybe snow.

Matt survived all five of his kids. Crenda flew to Arizona for a niece's wedding over the weekend. Matt has never had all five by himself that long. Bets were taken to see when he showed up here for Mom to help. They all lost! He never came or even called.

Dinner - leftovers from yesterday.

Mary - the bathroom is waiting for Michael to be done with work. Then he can work on it. His job is up against a deadline, but he is ahead of schedule, which he prefers to be.

Well, Grumpy is fusding for his breakfast, and I don't have a cat anymore.

Chickie - what a great party for your mom, the party of a century! You are so lucky to have a mom like yours to live and learn from.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! I awoke to rain. Elvis’s Cold Kentucky Rain has NOTHING on Cold Kansas Rain!!! So glad the rain held off for the party on Saturday and there was an amazing turn out of friends as well as family! It rained again that evening.

It’s back to our regular grind this week now… well sort of. I’ll be taking care of Choc and Ava, and the hunters are coming in for two weeks. I’m sure they will talk me into cooking for them at least once. I’m ready for a rest and getting back into my sewing room!

The Hooligans will miss the company. They had so many pets and attention. Everyone was missing their dogs, so they transferred love to the Hooligans.

Mary—hope you have a good time with your sister(s) today. I think that’s such a terrible name for a cake! We were packing up after the party, and we used a big foil pan that had chicken in it from the caterer. (It was washed first.) I was putting cake pieces in the pan to take to my sister’s, and the lid had “chicken” marked on it. I kind of scratched it out and put “CAKE” on the lid. My sister and I got silly about the virtues of humming bird cake vs. chicken cake. I think we were both tired, but it hit us funny because “CAKE” was under “chicken” on the lid. I guess you had to be there…

Jana—that reminds me of an old joke… “Sometimes I wake up grumpy; sometimes I let HIM sleep!” Mom really enjoyed her party—yes, of her century!

Becca—it really was quite a celebration. I didn’t really put together all the states until they started naming them.

I really did start this earlier. Then DH came home for brunch. Next it was time to walk Choc and Ava. Ava got to go with us to see Choc, then we came back and put her back in her kennel. When I got back, DH wanted to go to town and run some errands, so Odie and I rode shotgun while Boomer and Tinkerbell ruled the back seat. Tinkerbell sits up and looks like a little old person back there. She’s really funny.

Dinner tonight… I have a pile of leftover pizza! I had pizza for brunch. It’s good, so I don’t mind. I’ll probably throw some in the freezer for later days. Always nice to have something to pull out and not cook!

Bon appétit!

EDIT: P.S. The clouds parted and the sun came out! It's really a nice day now. I cut across the pasture when walking. Do you know that those lovely leaves hid squishy, wet stuff? And I'm not talking about the mud, either! Joys of cattle farming!

We are having vegetarian baked beans. I cut down the brown sugar, molasses, and ketchup by half. Then I added in a can of tomato sauce, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire. And a cup of real cranberries. Navy beans, that have been soaking in the fridge for a few days will be the last part - after they have simmered to soft. I would be happy with bacon or polish sausage or Italian sausage, but don't have any. Besides, this way is more WW friendly.

Hi everyone :)
We've been having a very Blustery Pooh Day! We had to wait most of the day for our delivery of pellets, they couldn't give us a time, not even if it would be morning or afternoon. I guess I shouldn't complain because it was free delivery and it's 1 ton. I'm making something with hamburger tonight, maybe hamburger helper because I need to go get some groceries, maybe tonight or maybe in the morning....I haven't decided yet.

Good afternoon from breezy, sometimes dreary, sometimes slightly sunny, SW. Pa...Around here you don't go by what a weather person tells you, you kind of go with what's happening at that moment....

Mary, you're really getting around...Sorry to hear your DS isn't feeling up to par...I've never had hummingbird cake but just hearing the name kind of stopped me from tasting..I kept thinking of all those little hummingbirds that jumped into the batter, (gross I know)....And let me tell you, my smoocher is worn out, oh my what a weekend!

Chickie, I can imagine how pleased your Mom was..How super that so many out of towners came for the party, that's great! Shows how much your Mom is loved.....Oh how well I remember those squishy "leaves"....Enjoy your pizza.....

Becca, sounds like you've had a busy morning...Time for you to sit down and put the feet up....Lasagna always sounds good to me although, I have to take mine in very small portions any more, but sure do love it!

Jana, I'd say, Matt had very good training...Taking care of 5 is a job and I'm sure he felt good knowing you'd be right there if he needed help...

My weekend was great even though I had to make that trip to the airport during rush hour, lol...But, just having Kathy in the house was good...She sat on the living room floor and wrapped all her Christmas presents, while chatting away and having a glass of wine...We did get to early breakfast with a bunch of the family and then went to Cari's...AND of course baby Lena is absolutely perfect in every way...We went to Cari's inlaws for dinner and pictures and when we got back to Cari's, Kathy told her and Matt to go to bed, she was on Lena duty...We laughed because it was the 1st night these 2 had slept through in 4 weeks...But, Lena did very well, doesn't cry, makes funny noises when it's time to eat...What a joy to be around Cari and Matt, just to watch and feel the love between the 2 of them and now with this little one, makes a person feel so good...This is the way it should be for everyone.....
Took my sister and I 4 hours driving home through rain, fog and just nasty weather but we made it, very tired but we made it....She was working at the polls today and I had an early cardiologist appointment...Then I went to the Library and then voted on the way home....Not much is going to get done around here, hopefully another cup of tea and maybe I'll get to the sewing room, maybe....
As for dinner, I haven't a clue...Don't have any chips but I do have eggs.........

You all have a great day.......

Happy eating...............
