SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Oct 14
Good morning!
We had fun with Bill' sis and DBIL (Becky and Ed) at the RV show yesterday. They looked at everything from pop-ups to big motorhomes, small bumper pulls to huge fifth-wheels. I think their heads were spinning by the time we all left. Bill and I came away as we always do - happy with what we already have.
Today the Seahawks are playing the Raiders - in London. England. At 10:00am. So I will be doing laundry during the game since the Maytag couple live not far from the TV. I also have cupboards to wipe out in the trailer and dishes, etc to restash. Bill emptied everything out to install under-cupboard lighting but he's not to sharp about cleaning up his sawdusty messes. So I'd rather just do it myself. And soon, we'll start packing stuff that goes to Autumn in Texas. Only 3 weeks until we leave.
IRISH - I'd be wearing Jim's sweatshirt, too. Did it help? Did they win? Our U of WA lost to Oregon. In OT! Do you know what it was that upset your tummy again? My DIL went through all kinds of tests and determined she can't eat anything wheat, no walnuts, no soy, and no eggs. If she does, she has all kinds of digestive problems.
TINA - Nice for you and Frankie to get out together, just you two. When is your Klobase?
BECCA - it is certainly coming up on quilt weather soon! Glad you have one handy that brings back good memories! ;o)
JANA - haha! When we raised our kids we did what had to be done without a second thought. I remember as a 3 yr old, singing How Much is That Doggie in the Window while riding in the car. For hours. Must have driving my parents up the wall!
Supper tonight might be leftover pizza or pesto pasta if Bill eats the pizza for lunch during the game. So I have a plan . . Do you? Or are you going to wing it?

Good Morning MaryZ and those that follow,
I sure envy you getting ready to travel again. I would give anything to be back on the road going anywhere these days. Won't be happening, with Rod's health problems but I sure do miss it. I loved living on the road. If you didn't like the weather, or the neighbors, or just got a hankering to visit someone, you just simply "moved on down the road".
Waiting for winter as I write. Chance for rain, yet again, and then changing to snow over night. Said wouldn't accumulate. I have heard that before as we dug out of the snowbanks. Missouri is one of those, if you don't like the weather, wait awhile, it will change.
And here they predict things as happening either north or south of I-70. WE live about a mile south of I-70 so never know how far off they will be. Sometimes they miss by a mile or two but it does seem to track along I-70. Just look out the window to predict my weather. Works better than the weatherman most of the time.
More troubles in our little corner of paradise. Last night Rod took a cup of soup to his recliner to watch a football game. Got excited, jumped and spilled very hot soup right in his lap. Burned in all the "wrong" places so he is hurting today. I heard him scream in the kitchen, ran into living room and he is clawing at his clothes but the cup of soup was still in his other hand. I grabbed the soup. He is ok, got some aloe right off a plant and then some antibiotic on it. Said better today but still hurts some. He could use a prayer or two today. Life is so unpredictable around here from week to week.
We spent lots of this week at VA getting more tests run. He keeps complaining about stomach pains and no one can figure out what is causing them. He has been to local hosp, urgent care, etc and now trying the VA. They did do a cat scan fri but no results back yet. He has had xrays, an MRI (expensive ones.....copay $225 for that thing) and nothing is showing up as the cause so dr suggested we go to VA where it is at least free to get tested.
He is so discouraged and the "talks" at our house are complete downers some days. I talked to his dr about some of the things he is saying, Like he wishes he was dead some days. That scares me. Dr said next time he starts talking like that, take him to hosp. I told him what the dr said and he hasn't said anything like that since. Maybe just an attention getter?????? Sorry to vent but life is a little rough some days. Without my faith in God, I would just give up and be lost most of the time. Guess I could use a prayer myself.
We lost another friend last week. He was 93. We just attended his wife's funeral 8 wks ago. Think he died of a broken heart. We have known them and been good friends for 42 yrs. Hard to lose friends and realize we are not getting any younger either. Only adds to Rod's depression since he was so close to this guy. His wife was my dear friend and I could not stop crying at her funeral.
WE do have a few bright spots in our life. Our DD1 and her DH and little dog Gidget are coming to visit thur and fri. That should cheer up Rod a lot, me too. And then our DD3 called this week and said she and DGS (the 11 yr old) will be here in dec for 5 days. What a nice surprise. They thought would cheer Rod up to give him something to look forward to. We have not seen that DGS for almost 5 yrs since we moved to KC. (We have a son living here and his family).
Enough about my family. Prayers for all of you each day. I so enjoy reading about your lives each day and pray that God will provide for all your needs today and always. Flo, hope you heal quickly and can get back to doing what you do and be happy.
As for lunch, probably pulled pork sandwiches. No idea what supper will be. Maybe soup, like we have had a lot of lately. Only Rod WILL eat it at the table, not in a recliner. He can see tv from there. He smoked two big pork butts and pulled it for sandwiches. Then we bagged it up in smaller portions and froze for later or company. Are you hungry yet? Sure glad my "guy" knows how to cook, smoke, etc. Gotta love that guy, married almost 54 yrs (in NOV)
Need to scoot, God bless you all today and always. HE knows your needs and will provide if we only ask. Love and hugs across the miles, safe travels to all on the road, good health to the sick, and comfort and peace to all for whatever is going on in your lives.
Shirley Mae PS I really miss Lea and I appreciate my kitty a little more these days. I will never forget that dear sweet lady.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Oct 14
Good morning
Mary, the Klobase is next Sunday, I'm so looking forward to it but I'm afraid it'll be kinda sad too, I don't think any of Frankie's family (brothers and sisters) will be here.....I hope some come though!
Saturday we'll help Kevin and Maria move, I'm not much helping lifting things but I can pack boxes and help watch Matthew
closing is Tuesday and Kevin is going to work in theevenings putting up a fence for his dog Rosie, she's Akita/Wolf, she's very protective of all 3 of them but she lives is too. She was found about starved in the desert and thelady that found her nursed her back to health, spayed her and find Kevin, she latched right on to Kevin which thelady thought was strange because poor thing had been beaten badly by a man and pretty much hated all men for a long time except Kevin. Now she's good with us all and loves company but she's Matthew's best friend.
I'm doing laundry, I might watch your game Mary, just because I love London
we have "family" there. She was our exchange student when she was 16, she's like a little sister to me. She got to go into the delivery room when I had Kevin and that decided her to be a pediatrician
I think we'll be winging supper here, I might try to do some sewing today.

Good afternoon from a dreary, chilly (cold to me)SW Pa.... I'm already thinking warmer places.....
Mary, there you go, off again but I do like the traveling....How much fun to be able to walk through a show and know, it's just for fun...Jim and I, in our silly years, would go and have a ball, do a lot of pretending and then come home....Funny, thinking back, Jim was a serious, hard worker until maybe he turned 70 and then we started doing those "spur of the moment" things...Jump in the car and head for New York or Maryland for lunch, go to Cook Forest just because, lots of fun stuff....And of course, miss him and those times, terribly....
But, you know, most days are fun or you make something good happen....
AND I did get out of Aldi alive and YES Notre Dame did win, not pretty but a win is a win...But, last night the Pens lost in OT..But, during the game, I did finish crocheting the afghan, thank goodness....And since I don't watch NFL, not sure what I might get into today.....
And I do think Jim did have a hand in the ND win and as far as wearing his sweat shirts, I saved the one he wore at night. It's really worn but very soft and he loved it, so on chilly nights, it's part of my Pjs......
Becca, Boy, I agree about having a sense of humor as you age..Kind of wonder how the golden years can tarnish so fast....And I would think having your son with you would be good for your DH...I know the kids always seemed to perk up Jim...On a day like today, soup sounds darn good.....
Tina, As Becca said, your life if neither dull or boring...Busy, busy, busy all the time....Have you decided about little Dotty? Just a few weeks until Mary stops by.....
One thing for sure, I need to fold and put clothes away...Isn't it funny, how when you don't use a bed, it becomes a catch all or in this house it does...Also need to dig out some more sweats and winter stuff although, I'm sure we'll get some warm temps...We still need to have Indian Summer....
I finally did break down and get a new smart phone, which has to be the funniest thing in the world...I'm so used to my "dumb phone", I didn't even know how to answer this new one..And we all know me and reading instructions...But, at least it looks pretty in it's new pink case and the fellow did hook up my Bluetooth or whatever it is in the car...(At least I know how to answer that one).....
As for my dinner, winging it sounds good to me...You would think with the bags I brought home yesterday, there would be something that would catch my eye, right??? OH almost forgot, new bag of chips so I'm set......
And just as I looked out the window, the sun tried it's best, a ground hog came out of his hole and is now eating the flowers he had missed....Life is good!
You all have a great day.......
Happy eating.............

Good afternoon!
Home from church. It is still cold outside, so I have the heater running as well as the fireplace.
Michael, also known as Scrooge, just agreed to get a third Christmas tree for this house. I have always wanted a white tree with red and white ornaments. My aunt did one like this when I was a small child and I loved it. So I just ordered a white tree for my front window. I have been doing a variation on my red and white tree with a green tree, but that tree will now live as my third tree in the Batt Cave. I have a ton of train ornaments for that tree downstairs. Bet you can't guess that I love Christmas! LOL! It will be here Thursday, I will try to behave and not put it up until December.
We have been taking care of the animals at Sarah's - letting the chickens in and out, feeding the koi, and petting all the kitties.
Dinner has been punted to tomorrow night. Raiding what is left in the refrig today.
Irish - saw that ND won yesterday. Thought I heard that this is ND best start in several years.
Mary - we used to go the the RV shows and look, thinking that one might be nice, but never got one. Matt just bought a membership for camping. Campsites will only be $10 a night.
Tina - Kevin, the dog whisperer, glad he was able to love that puppy!
Shirley Mae - good to see you and what fun you will have with all the company coming! Enjoy all the attention they will shower on uou and Rod.
Enjoy!
Jana
