Good morning!

Another night of insomnia. I didn't drink enough fluids yesterday. I can always tell. I usually have a tall glass of ice water through the evening but last night we had a sudden, unplanned road trip to meet Bill's sister to get some photos from her for their brother's memorial video. So we didn't get home until almost 8pm. Enough time to have a fire to take off the chill, though. It was only 61* here. Should be a bit warmer today.

I'm still working on my purging project and making great headway. Couple more days and that should be done. I also quilted and bound a small UFO. Foxy is doing a bit of quality control testing on it right now. Today - more of the same - clearing out old stuff. (some is close to 20 years old!). Also, keeping my eye out for fabrics and patterns for the fall swap that was just posted for September. I love fall, Halloween, and Christmas sewing the best!

BECCA - You definitely are a great example to all your family! I was 19 (almost 20!) when I was married and my groom was 4 months younger. Mother Nature sure provides a sweet show for you every day!

JANA - won't Daniel be surprised by the family portrait! lol! What is the head count in your family? In my own family we are just 10, but if I count my sibs and their families, we're over 70 now. Some of my great great nieces and nephews I've never met. I bet Ethan remembers that lesson!

VeLDA - have you been doing any beading this summer? About when do you plan to go south again? We haven't set any dates yet, but hope to leave here early November for Georgetown/Austin area, hopefully before weather gets too bad. If we go I-5 thru OR and CA, we only have the Siskiyous to cross, but if it's good wx, we might go through CO to visit my sisters. Have you ever thought of taking a trip west one summer?

Since we met Bill's sis last night we never made our burgers, so maybe tonite. Or perhaps we'll have grilled chicken, baked sweet potato, and corn. Bill can choose what he's in the mood for.

Mary - at the immediate level, just my kids and grands, we are at 20. I think the extended family, we are up over 50 with my two brother's families. My oldest brother had nine children and they are all married and have children and some of those children have children - I have lost count! Sandee keeps me updated with all of those kids.

Dinner - soup - it has gotten cool here and a nice bowl will be tasty. Still, the type will be named later.

The doughnuts were, so so. Not like what they should be. Both Sarah and I thought that cake flour and pastry were the same thing. They are not. Pastry flour has a higher protein count than cake flour, so they will hold structure better. All purpose flour is even higher. So I have a couple of restuarant supply stores and will look for pastry flour to try again. Also need a non expired baking powder, mine was. Ethan is waiting to try the next batch. So while the oil is out, I will try the churro recipe. It is very similar to a cream puff dough, pate choux, and I have the big tip needed to pipe them out. Your cooking lesson for the day - LOL!

Good morning everyone,sunny here & my walk was nice but not as good as old route.I saw 1 deer & a squirrel.

Maryz We never know what we will see when we look out or even go outside.Yesterday I walked out & looked up ,there at mailbox was Mama deer & her Fawn & they came back yesterday afternoon late.We have 45 now with DG & great grands.Never would have thought it possible.And I have 3 children.Most people think I had more with such a big family.

Jana I used to make homemade doughnuts a lot but not anymore.I would let the grands help.They Loved the Eating the best.Thanks for the cooking lesson.I have never used pastry flour.

It’s hot here again.DH mentioned Hot dogs & Sauerkraut So That it will be.And roasted asparagus for me too. Becca

I have some hamburger soup in the freezer. That sounds good to me. After work, I get to go to the p.o. and mail out my snowmen. Done in the nick of time. Mom is so cute. The whole way through, she kept telling me it was too much work for something I am mailing away. Now, she says that She's glad I at least get two of them back. Lol.

Hi Mary and all our other pals. We leave here Oct 31. As for travel west. We did all our touring in our younger years with our Goldwing and pulled our Bunkhouse Junior trailer. Lovely memories of the west coast and Dakota's, Colorado, etc.
Most delightful Western trip was the year we went in late August and early September. The Aspen trees were beautiful!
Now we are content to spend summer in IL and winter in TX. Burgers are on our menu tonight. Need to get back to my sewing project. Working on doing a "Scrap Happy" block for my next church quilt top.
