SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, Aug 25

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Aug 25, 2018 4:52 am

Good morning,

so nice to be cool finally! We will hover in the 70-degree range all week long. And next weekend we are going to Prosser in SE Washington where it's usually really hot and it's only predicted to be 82*. I can dig that.

Bill is going to his brother's house today to pick up a memory stick of photos to make a video show for the celebration of life. He really likes doing videos and they are therapeutic for him. I don't know yet if I'll ride along or not. I've never really been considered 'family' by any of Bill's family except his sister, so I feel more inclined to stick around home and do laundry.

I finished my Valentine quilt yesterday and posted a photo last night. I love how it turned out! I'm packing it into our trailer this winter because we'll most likely still be out come february. Our anniversary is Feb 14. Today will be making something for my Secret Santa. I found some fun patterns for small projects while going through my old magazines.

Foxy is oozing himself onto my lap and has his head draped over my wrist as I type. Any errors are his!

IRISH - I am so sorry that your sister and family have had to walk this sad path. I know everyone's heart is breaking at the loss of Albert, but at the same time, it's a relief to know he's out of pain. God bless her and may the angels keep her enfolded in their wings. I know you are a huge support and blessing to her, even as you are still working through your own losses. We will be thinking of you all.

CHICKIE - the end is in sight! A relief in a way, but also hard to let your baby 'grow up and move out'! you've put heart and soul into these projects. I hope Henry Glass and Co realize the quality of the sewing and of the sew-er they chose for August! Happy birthday to Doyal! We've been watching the Great British Baking Show and I get inspired to bake things, too. and we have no one to give them to so you know what happens . . .

BECCA - happy anniversary to your and your hubby! 62! What a blessed achievement! your celebration sounds just right. I'm sure it doesn't seem like it's been that long! What kind of wedding did you have? Big? Little? church? at home? elope?

PAM - how many sodas do you normally drink in a day? I knew a guy years ago who usually drank about 6/day. He had heart palpitations, pain, and some other, unmentionable (at least in a supper setting!) effects from drinking so much pop. It never occurred to him that it was the colas causing his health issues. I like the taste of pop but I don't like the sweetness much. Makes my teeth feel like the enamel is being stripped off. But if a little rum is added, then I'm OK. ;o)

VELDA - congrats on all the ticket sales! I hope your quilt saves the day for them! Dust bunnies? haha! I have herds of them and they migrate from room to room! One of these days, when the sewing is all done (hahahaha), I plan to address the issue. Also, the spider issue!

JANA - glad Gracie survived the flight. It was probably fun the first half and boring the second half. At least it is for me! lol! You got your Michael to mow? How'd you do that? I suggested to Bill yesterday that he mow sometime before we leave for Utah, just one last time for the season. He was already on the tractor, parking the attachement for the winter and the mower deck was attached. He just glared at me. Okaaay. Guess we won't be mowing anymore this year. The grass stopped growing but those end of season dandelions are all about 12" tall. He mows about an acre in all. have you started quilting Sunflowers yet?

Our veggie soup last night was delicious! I used the strained broth from the swiss steak and added about a cup of beer to it along with the meat and leftover green beans. Diced fresh celery & carrots and I cut corn off a cob. We have just enough left for tonite.

Morning all:

Back from my 4 day retreat on the coast with my 5 lady friends. It was so nice to get away from the heat, smoke and chaos of the renovation and DH's complaining. It was also nice to sew for extended lengths of time with no interruptions. Got a lot done.

It is so nice to wake up to cooler mornings and less smoke. I can't go for walks yet because of a pulled hamstring, but that is slowly getting better. If I pull my butt up with my hand I can walk pretty good but obviously I can't be seen in public doing that LOL.

Bathroom was "finished" when I returned so yesterday was spent deep cleaning the master bedroom attached to the bathroom. Even the walls had grit and dust on them. Was on my hands and knees doing the rug and hardwood floors with a damp rag. The vacuum picks up the grit but not the fine dust. Bathroom looks basically good but the workers banged up the knotty pine cabinets and the wood all around the doors. I will have to oil all the wood to try to diminish the looks of the white dings and gouges. DH is also not happy with the looks of the floor of the shower. The tiles in the middle look damp and wet and don't match the rest of the tile at the edges. Don't know that to do about that. Now we wait for the shower installer to rehang the glass doors.

Nothing much on the agenda for this week. I have to finish cleaning up the 221, Janome and serger donated to our guild for auction, finish up refurnishing a 221 I purchased, then sell it, as well as finish up several projects started. I "try" to limit myself to 3 on-going projects at a time. You know how that goes!

DH says tonight is sh***p quesadillas and salad, plug your ears Mary. He loves to experiment so we shall see how this tastes.

Hope you all have a great weekend, prayers for all those in need and hugs to all your friends and family.

Good afternoon! I’ve met my friend for coffee, had lunch with Mom, hit the store (I hate going), came home and put stuff away, made DH some lunch , and here I am. I want to get back into my sewing room and straighten up as well as make a few more projects with the Halloween fabrics, although I won’t turn them in as part of the projects right now… maybe later I’ll let them know I used every scrap they sent me.

How totally bizarre… I had a post here for Mary, and it’s gone… I didn’t notice in time to do the Control Z. Here goes… Mary—I really like your Valentine quilt, too! It looks great! Did you stay home today? That’s how I feel sometimes. Tomorrow is DH’s birthday, and on Monday his brother and sister are coming to take him to lunch. She said, “ it’s important to keep the sibs together.” I’ll be the 4th wheel on the tricycle! DH mowed our yard today. The rain has made the pastures lush again, but it also made the yard grow. The weeds are taller than I am, I’m ashamed to say! DH does not trim or weed. Period. He keeps trying to get me to ride his mower, but I’ve balked at that. I had to get rid of some more banana nut bread, so it went to town with me for Mom and my sister and BIL. I wish I could cook and bake without calories!!!

Linda—what a treat to go on your retreat… now, you need a re-retreat!!! Sounds like you had a great time and deserved the getaway. I thought of you… I’ve been doing my piecing on my Featherweight. I think it’s 1935. I know it’s pre-war by the side cover. I should look up the serial number again. How rude that the workers banged up your cabinets! Hope you can use some of the Old English scratch cover oil. I love knotty pine! How crazy the tiles don’t match. I’m sure your DH is throwing a fit! Yes, I know about three things… I ran over my limit about three times this month. Oh well… I’ll catch up after Christmas… I think your dinner sounds awesome!

Irish—So sorry that once again your family is in mourning. I know you are sorry for the loss but also at peace because he is no longer in the pain and immobility. Blessings to your sister and to you.

Dinner here—steak for DH, salad for me, and I got some asparagus.
Bon appétit!

LOL, Mary. I drink a pop every day or two, most of the time. And I have trimmed back on the amount of sugar in my iced tea. We wil get there. I had been drinking several cans a day at work, but switched to the sparkling waters. We will get there.

I am at Mom and Dad's house playing with snowmen. Each one gets a carrot nose. I am sewing around them. It feels good to play.

Linda, I am glad you got the chance to go on a retreat. They help recharge you. All that work cleaning after the renovations! I guess it is still worth it.

Chickie, I have been working on my Featherweight, too. I was a little worried. It was sometimes skipping stitches at 18 I was using for paper piecing. Now, I am back down to 10, and it is happy as pie. Guess it has a sweet spot.

Mom is playing in the kitchen. My uncle, her brother is staying with them for a little while. It is awesome when he comes to visit. He helps Mom and Dad out with some jobs around the house, and buys fresh veggies to share. He is a farmer, so he is really into farm stands and auctions and stuff. Uncle Cliff is a vagabond. He sold his house a couple years ago, and now spends time at his kids' houses and sometimes with Mom and Dad. It works well for him.

We are having corn, fried zucchini, and some kind of meat is in the oven. Mom was just using the mixer. Don't know what that is for.

Have a great day!
Pam
