SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Aug 10th
Good morning!
Yesterday was a long day in Seattle - 7 hours. Exactly half of that was spent on I-5 in the worst traffic we've seen yet. But the news for Al was all good! No cancer! After we dropped him at his car, he still had another hour's drive home and stopped at KFC to buy their anniversary dinner to celebrate. And they loved their quilt I made them.
We have no news on Bill's brother though. Between company and Al, Bill hasn't been to see him since last Sunday. I think he plans to go today, though.
Our heat wave is abating by 15 degrees. Only going to 77 today. a nice relief. If Bill finished my last christmas quilt I'll be putting binding on that and making binding for the blue/white quilt I made for our family friend who lost his wife. That's the next one to be quilted.
TINA - you had a long hot day in your kitchen! do you freeze all those goodies or will they get eaten right away? Oh, I got what you meant by living with your kids now. lol!! And if we were to move close to my son, it would be, probably, to a senior condo type place, health permitting. They have a very tiny home.
CHICKIE - I can't believe how fast you are getting through your challenge sewing. I'd still be scratching my head, trying to decide what to do! In the words of our esteemed leader - "You go, Girl!"
BECCA - if/when the time is right to consider moving, you will know it. Though, new doctors may not be a bad thing. Maybe a new doctor would have a different treatment for your hubby. You never know . .
LINDA - oh dear - door open in 103* heat isn't a good thing. How much longer until the bathroom is completed?
JANA - Oooh, I can't wait for Daniel to come visit! That's only about 3 weeks! Congrats to your little mutton buster!
PAM - You must have a great farmers market! Ours is tomorrow morning. Maybe I should go and see what goodies I can find. Seems usually what's there is more crafts than food, though.
IRISH - are you out there? How did Cari's party go? and how is your sis and dbil doing? I think of you and your crowd a lot.
Supper tonite - All that's left in the fridge is baked beans. I think I'll ask Bill if he can face burgers again. We have two buns to eat up. that would mean no cooking except to pat out the patties and hand them to him. I can dig it!
It's almost time for Scottie and I to meet Lori & Duchess for our morning walk. We'll also pick blackberries this morning. It's Lori's turn to take them home. she is having company this weekend and wants to make a crisp.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Aug 10th
Good morning! I’ve been off to take care of grand dog and great grand dog. With the family all gone to a big float trip except “Grandpa” and me… guess who is the designated dog sitter. Last evening I received a text from DGD… “could I take care of Deuce while she is gone?” Since they are about 2 miles with a fierce German shepherd on the road between… I’m driving to all dogs—at least three times a day. Everyone will be back sometime tomorrow afternoon.
Yesterday I made the 60 mile round trip to the “local” quilt shop. I had to take DH’s car, since mine was in the shop getting the cruise control repaired. I like my truck best, but I needed backing and more black fabric for my challenge projects… The Hooligans wanted to ride shotgun (“Road Trip!!!”), and although it was pretty warm, there is a big shade tree at the LQS and I open the windows enough they can’t squeeze out… Nothing is ever simple. We got about half-way there… just on the other side of Mound Valley. When I turned onto the highway, the car kind of hiccupped. I looked down and the heat gauge was on H! Yikes!!! So… I stopped, tried to let it cool down, then we slowly limped back into Mound Valley where my truck was at the garage. I figured if my truck wasn’t finished, I’d take it anyway and leave the car. At least my truck was driveable. Great news there, my truck was just finished! Next… canine round up! As I said, nothing is ever easy! The Hooligans thought they would explore Mound Valley before continuing the road trip. Thankfully they sorta minded me in their own time, and we left the car and continued our journey. By this time, I really needed my retail therapy! I found several fabrics I could use on the fronts of my projects as well as backing fabric, so all in all the trip was successful. Today I will be dog walking and trying to find time in my sewing room!
I’m really enjoying the challenge and still have loads of projects in my head. I’m just hoping I don’t run out of time.
LOL, Tina—I see what you mean about living with your kids. When we lived with DD, she gave us curfews, or we needed to call her. Too funny! She also changed while living in the college dorms from a slob at home to Suzy Homemaker and neat freak. Her dorm mate was so bad, she made DD’s home living slobbishness look neat, and she realized… I wish I had some of it in me. I’m a slob. There are more important things than cleaning house…
Great news, Mary about Al’s reports! That’s a long road trip for all! Of course they loved their quilt!!! Glad your heat is abating. I heard Tina’s is as well. Now, if it would move to the east…
I started this earlier, but DH came home from geezer coffee, so we had brunch. Then I actually did clean up in the kitchen, cooked some burgers for dinner and made some spiral zucchini “pasta” for me for dinner tonight. I might do marinara, but I think I’ll make an olive oil and garlic drizzle and add artichoke hearts and cherry tomatoes.
Now… time to do doggy duties, raid the garden at DS3’s for tomatoes, and head back to my sewing room! I may also get some okra. I’ll be the only one who eats that here as well.
Bon appétit!

Good acternoon!
Mary - what a great gift that Albert received for his anniversary! You did good too!
Becca - that is alot of money to remove a tree. When we lost several during a bad storm in California, the homeowners insurance took care of that bill because they landed on my sheds and fence. A big decision to move, we did it before we needed it and it has been great having them close.
Chickie - those puppies keep you busy. So glad that you got to the repair shop with no other problems and your truck was finished.
Tina - there will come a time when we can get even with our kids - LOL!
Well, my chicken sandwiches were put off until tonight. They will be tasty after marinating this long.
Not much else here. Ethan is watching a new Paw Patrol cartoon. We went to Costco for milk and a white shirt. Got milk, no shirt. Ethan is now cooking his lunch - a favorite treat - cup of noodles with peas - it has to have peas, according to him.
Enjoy,
Jana

Well, I was too late to go out to eat with Dan's Aunt and Uncle. I looked in the freezer, but wasn't inspired. I did want some chicken breast with Thai peanut sauce, but it is in a big pack that would all have to be thawed. So I chopped up a couple cucumbers and used the peanut sauce to dip. The girls and I also ate some grape tomatoes. And I had some radishes. The girls helped me eat a couple slices of cheese. I want more, but don't know what. I am watching Diners, Driveins, and Dives. I want everything Guy eats.. Maybe I will finish up the bag of mixed mac and cheese, while Dan is working. I worked late, today.
This weekend, I am planning on spending with Mom. Half the weekend will be working on snowmen. Also, Mmom and I will visit my brother in rehab. He had another back surgery. They weren't able to fix the rods that are out of position, but they added more. He can't pick up his lehs, and he is really worried.
Have a great day!
Pam
