SUPPER CLUB - Thurs, Aug 9

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Aug 09, 2018 4:03 am

Good morning,

all our company was gone yesterday by noon. I kept hearing a rattling sound as we were all standing in the yard saying our good-byes. I saw Vicki standing, facing our house, shaking maraca type things. she has a lot of 'mystical' items as well as crystals, etc. When she made eye contact with me she faced me head on and increased the volume and speed of the maracas. My take on it was she was purifying 'her' land and ridding it of 'toxic spirits'. It worked! our friends are gone! and as soon as they left, she stopped and went inside. this is a new thing with her. Interesting.

I sewed for a couple of hours in the afternoon and then just went and sat and embroidered and watched TV in our cool family room for the rest of the evening.

Today I'm going walking and blackberry picking in a few minutes then home to shower and meet Albert to take him to his Seattle dr appt. I'll also give him their anniversary quilt. Not a fun way to spend your 60th anniversary - with your little sister and your urologist. Oh well. At least he made it to 60!

CHICKIE - how is the Halloween sewing going? I'd love for you to be here, too, playing tourist in my town.

TINA - sorry your summer vacation is over. With your temps it probably doesn't feel like fall there!

BECCA - you do have a lot to consider about moving or not. I know you have a little slice of heaven there and love working in your yard. But given your hubby's physical condition, I imagine your kids worry about you being out from town and no family close by. We love our place and know the time is coming when we'll need to sell, too. Our closest kids are 30 miles, though they plan to move away in the not too distant future. Our son is 45 miles the other direction, near Seattle. We sure don't want to move that direction, but someday we may have to.

PAM - I love all your veggie suppers!

Our supper tonite will be a surprise. There are taco leftovers still. Enough for one more night. I'm tired of tacos, but better that than cooking in a hot kitchen after a long day in Seattle and on the road.

what's the story in your kitchen?

Good morning!

My uglies are done. DH is mowing the yard. And sidekick is due at any second.

Not much new here. Tanner the other day took second place in the Mutton Busting/riding competition. He held on for the full 8 seconds and then he and the sheep tumbled over each other. Tanner's cousin took home the first place trophy.

Dinner - a chicken bacon ranch sandwich from my Pioneer Woman cookbook. Salad on the side.

Daniel and family will be here over Labor Day weekend for a quick visit. That is if he is home from the fire line. His strike team is out on the Mendocino complex fire and when they time out, he will go up to replace one of the team members. Daniel could go next week or the week after. All depends on how much manpower is still needed then.

Well, Ethan just arrived, and what he wants - right - food! LOL!

Enjoy,
Jana

Another smokey inside day. Supposed to be 103 again too. The tilers are coming today to start tiling the double shower. They will be going in and out the front door to cut tiles so all the bad air and heat will be coming in the front door. Yesterday they put the shower pan on the bottom of the shower and left the front door open. Last night I got 5 mosquito bites on one leg because I had no sheet on. Hope I don't get West Nile or Zeka virus. Think I will use some deet spray for tonight after the door being left open again today.

DH just came in after emptying the pool basket, full of ash and black soot. Got up early this am and the family room was bathed in a bright orange glow from the orange sun. Weird.

Not much else happening here, just trying to stay cool and calm. As usual you all are busy, busy, busy. DH says we are having mini chicken burritos again tonight with black beans and a salad. Good eats for a hot day.

Good morning! We are going for another warm one today. Yesterday thunder rumbled, clouds rolled in, and the rain went to the north and south and east of us. Maybe today something will blow up… We can hope! I plan to work on my Desire to Inspire challenge today. So far I have a throw size top, six candle mats ready to be put into candle mats unless I decide to appliqué them and make another throw, and yesterday afternoon I started on diamond star (kind of like small Lone Star) table toppers (2 of them).

Mary—I guess you have to see the humor in Vicki’s craziness. Too bad she didn’t put on her Zulu costume or something. I feel so badly for her family and her. That is such a sad disease. Congratulations to Albert!!! I know it was touch and go for awhile, and I’m sure he is celebrating—LIFE! And, life with his little sis! Make a taco salad with your leftovers.

Tina—school starts here soon, too. When we were kids, the school year was from day after Labor Day to day before Memorial Day. It’s really shifted to middle of August-middle of May.

Had to laugh about “living with your kids”. My late DH and I lived with our DD before she got married while we were building a house after ours sold quickly. It was during that time she got engaged and was getting married in a few months. What a wild time! We got the house finished the week before the wedding so they could have the house to themselves. I lived with them again while I was building a house again after I sold the one my late DH and I built. It was again several months. I shared a bedroom with DGD as she was a toddler. After DH retired, MIL moved in with us for 18 months until our house burned to the ground. Then DH and I lived in the basement with DS1 and family for 3 weeks while we got the little rental house remo finished enough we could live in one room and a bathroom while we finished getting it liveable. I think I’ve had ENOUGH of sharing home with kids. I don’t want to be my MIL! I’ll be checking myself into senior living or a nursing home!!! I can’t do that to them!!!

Pam—love your dinners!

Jana—The mutton busting would be cute! Congrats to Tanner! I keep thinking abour Daniel and the fires! I know you are on pins and needles! Such a cute little termite you have!!!

Dinner here tonight—anything that falls out of the fridge. I hate cooking! Between my sewing projects, walking dogs, and wedding invitations addressing I don’t have time for cooking, and it’s too darn hot! We won’t starve! No chance of that with the fridge full of choices—both animal and vegetable.

Bon appétit!

I'm sliding in to my chair, late again...but at least before we've eaten this time.
I've been on kp duty LOL I've baked banana nut muffins, 4 loaves of zucchini bread and I'm making pickles.
LOL you all don't understand about me wanting to live with my kids now LOL I want to mess up their bathrooms, leave dirty dishes, wine that I don't want to clean anything up, sit around and be lazy LOL I already told them that they aren't allowed to "take care" of me of I'm unable, I'll go to a nursing home. But the living in the same town/city is so much better when we get older.
I'm making green enchiladas with stew meat for supper, Yummy!

I stopped at the farmer's market on the way to the rents. They don't eat enough veggies, so I had to bring some tomatoes and cucumbers to add to their leftover chicken soup. It is mostly noodles and some baby carrots. Just a little corn and peas and chicken from leftovers in their fridge. And we had a deliscious bisquit with it. My mom's bisquits are very good. She uses a different recipe than she did growing up. I liked those better, but I can't complain, because Mom likes these better.

We got done watching shows about Maine game wardens, and are watching a show about Texas game wardens during Hurricaine Harvey. I guess they got tired of watching Dr. Pol.

Soon, I will go home to my girls and give them dinner. They will forgive me on being a little late, as soon as they get fed.

Reminds me of a cute joke. Want to know who loves you more, your dog or your wife? Stick them both in the trunk of a car for a couple hours, and just see who is happy to see you!
