SUPPER CLUB - tuesday, Aug 7
good morning!
I swear I posted yesterday. Honest! In fact, I posted twice. I gotta learn to have my coffee first. I was in Sew-in, but moved it all over here. I thought. Maybe I forgot to actually hit the POST button. And then DH ran virus scans on my computer. Oh well.
We woke up early to a lot of whining and scrabbling. Our 'boys' were very interested in my dresser's underneath. turned out we had a very scared baby bunny back there. Bill rescued it and turned it loose in the bit slash pile out in the woods.
It was a busy, busy day. Last minute cleaning, berry picking, made a blackberry crisp (that turned out purrfect!), quick run to the store. When I got back about noon, our friends, Bob & Betsy were here. We got them settled with power and water to their camper and soon our other friends pulled in. They are from New Zealand and keep a small motorhome at Bob and Betsy's for their annual visit to the U.S. Delightful people, all of them, and just what we needed in this house. We finally had taco dinner around 8pm and a somewhat early night at 9:30.
Today we are all going to walk through our little waterfront town. Think Cedar Cove if you ever watched that show. It's nice to play tourist once in a while right where we live. Tonite, three more couples will join us for a potluck BBQ of burgers, beans, fruit and potato salads, and desserts. Sue, from New Zealand, is contributing a Pavlova, a merangue dessert. (I can't spell it, but I'm sure I'll be able to eat it!). It's a New Zealand specialty.
I hope everyone has a super supper tonite!

JANA, I was wondering yesterday how the big surprise went. I'm so thrilled for you all that you pulled it off! What a memorable birthday!! as for your day today, Happy closet rearranging. We did that some years back. Donated a lot of stuff, then built storage to accomodate what we were keeping. Twenty years later, it still works for us!
PAM - thanks for stepping up yesterday. I wonder where I put my S.C. post . . . Everybody loves 'mac and cheese'!!
TINA - I sure hope you cool down one day soon. And that you have some leftovers from your roast for hash, shephard's pie, pasties, soup, or ??? Now I'm hungry for a roast. . .

Good morning! The hooligans and I walked to let Choc out this morning, then I came back for yoga practice and a shower. DH returned for brunch, and we will go vote in a few minutes. When we return, I’ll be in my sewing room! I didn’t get there yesterday. It was an all day trip to Joplin for more dental work. I should have only one more appointment left. A stop at Hobby Lobby for red ink for the invitations addressing, and Chinese take out for a late lunch, and a picnic by the creek rounded out the day. Oh, we also stopped and picked up DH’s car from repairs and left my truck as the speed control went out on it. Since I have a heavy foot and have been known to get some high dollar speeding tickets that cut into my fabric budget… it’s NEEDED!
Mary—your activities sound so fun! I’d love to walk around your town and tourist with you. Sounds like you are going to have a blast with good friends and good food! You do need a break from the stress and sadness you’re been going through. I’ve heard of Pavlova, but I’ve never made it. Wasn’t it named for a famous dancer as it’s light and airy?
Jana—I’m going to have to look for your post about the big surprise day. How cool to pull it off! That’s a big job for a big event!
Tina—Dinner sounds delish! Do hope you have plenty of leftovers… I’m thinking tacos or enchiladas or taco salad…
Pam—good for you for starting the table, and your dinners always sound so good! I want to come stay with you!
Dinner here—leftover Chinese takeout and salad for me. DH has Chinese as well. We do not go hungry!
Bon appétit!

We are having hamburger soup. It has corn, tomatoes, a jar of hot salsa, hominy, zucchini, onion, and water. We have all the salsa we did in 2015. Mom and Dad said it is too hot. So I throw it in a soup now and then.
Have a great evening, and Mary, enjoy your company!

Good afternoon!
We have been busy here. Emptying closets of clothes for donation. Rearranging what was left and realizing that I never need anymore clothes the rest of my life. LOL! Like that is going to happen!
It was so much fun being sneaky and devious! Something I am very good at. When we arrived, the engine was adding the caboose to the train, so I told Michael we had time before our reservations, so stay and watch. He gladly did. Then I suggested that he explore around the grounds seeing the engines in different stages of repair, at which time I called Sarah to let her know we were at the station. I had many rouses up my sleeve just in case. Then Stu walked up with the boxes of cupcakes. Michael looked at me and said one word - busted! We then told him what we were up to. All the grandkids eyes were wide when they learned they were riding in the caboose. Grandpa rode in the cupola and the rest of the family all took turns riding up there as well. There were 4 seats up there, on each side of the caboose. With the littler ones, they sat on laps. All shared and no fighting over space. The only one that didn't get up there was me. The ladder was very steep and shallow steps.
At the end of where our ride was, the engine swtiched from our end to the other to pull the train back to the station. We ate our bd cupcakes then. Well, Ethan set his cupcake down, being distracted by the engine going by and Michael didn't pay attention either and promptly sat and squished Ethan's cupcake. No problem, we had plenty. So after cleaning up the seat and the pants, we all had a great laugh.
A once in a lifetime great birthday that all will remember.
Dinner - baked potato, small steak and broccoli. Matt may be out here tonight. He is batch-ing it this week as all his family is up camping with his MIL and 6 other of her grandchildren. Total of 11 under the age of 12. Crenda is there helping her mom out. They call it Nana Camp, a tradion in that family.
Stu leaves for school on the 20th, so I will need to get some groceries for him to take. He is only working for another week and then some time off. He earned enough money this summer for room and board, tuition, books and some spending as well. He is very good about budgeting.
Enjoy!
Jana

Hi all
Mary, is love to tourist with you too
dessert sounds very yummy!
Jana, how awesome!
The roast was yummy and I'll make soup for us and 3 grandkids for lunch tomorrow, today is the last day of my summer vacation. Holly starts tomorrow but the kids don't start until next Wednesday here. Teachers get a bum rap having their vacation cut short.
Tonight we're going out for our pizza at the winery. We've been cleaning house most of the day so tomorrow will be all attention to the kids. We'll be busy LOL
