SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, Aug (AUGUST!!) 1st
Good morning,
Seems we were all just wishing for warmer temps and rooting for summer to get here. And now, it's August!! I think I still have May on my sewing room calendar!
Yesterday I finished the top for my anniversary quilt and got the backing and binding made, too. Bill has my holly quilt half done so hopefully, today, we can get "greenie" on the frame. Then I cut a bunch of 5" squares for August lotto. Of course, I used some wrong fabrics, so need to revisit that project.
Bill's brother is still hanging in there. His family was called in at 4am yesterday, but things straightened out so he's still with us. Becky says she is going home this afternoon.
CHICKIE - so happy you are having a respite from the heat. And to put icing on your weather cake - RAIN! I bet the cattle were out dancing in it!
LINDA - I think it's time to pack up that RV and head for a non smokey area. Even your picture made my eyes burn!
CAROLE - glad you have at least one patient who is on a solid mend. How is your own back/fanny? glad you are back to your sewing group. Your planned new quilt sounds pretty. Did you ever finish your Cathedral Windows?
JANA - we are alfredo fans here. Your recipe sounds tasty. Not the chicken thighs, though. We are strictly white meat here. I'd have to sub in breasts.
BECCA - I'm glad your hand is healing. Does the doctor have you doing any exercises to keep it in shape - like flexing and extending fingers and wrists?
Last night we ended up having tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. Tonight may be bacon and eggs. Or perhaps just a chef's salad. We'll see what the day brings.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, Aug (AUGUST!!) 1st
Good morning from SW Pa. which started out very dark, dreary and rainy but now it's warm, bright and Mr. Sun is making an appearance...You just never know what kind of weather you might get in this crazy state, lol....
Mary, Sad to hear about Bill's brother but you know, he's in good hands...I agree about the "too many people or visiting too long"...As much as everyone wants to see him, he also needs his space....
Today is my sister's 76th birthday...I keep telling her, she's going to be catching up to me if she doesn't watch out...But, what's funny, she is much bigger than me so I can still call her my "big" sister...
You had asked about Nick and school..No he'll still be at Western Carolina although I'd love to get him up here...
And with my DBIL, they will be taking his leg today...He has 4 different doctors and they've all agreed, it does have to come off...And they have told my sister, he will never get any better and there is no way, she'll be able to take him home and care for him, herself...I keep thinking, who would have thought this would happen, to both Jim and him...Sorry to say, but I do question why......
Chickie, happy to hear you've had some rain and would be more than happy to send you more...One thing for sure, with our crazy weather, the veggies, mostly corn, is extra good this year...
Going to blame this on Mary, but I now have the vision of all your cows out there dancing in the rain.....
Becca, Every time I think of your hand I get the shivers...How quick something like that can happen, terrible.....Sure hope it's back to normal real soon.....
Carole, does sound like your household is getting back to normal...Isn't that sweet about your Vet, love it...When I take BabyGirl to the Vet, he makes such a big fuss over her and I wonder if he does that to all his patients...Of course I'd like to believe, BabyGirl is his favorite, lol....
Think I'd better get this body in gear and get moving...I told my DS I'd sit with her (supposed to take about 4 hours)....Just had a call from the rug installer and they scheduled for the 6th of Sept..In looking at my crazy calendar, I'm not going to be home too much....
Did talk to Kathy last night and she was in Denver, on her way to teach in Minn....Then I'm picking her up at the airport late Friday night for Cari's party, then taking her back Sunday for a flight back to Minn. On the 21st, she wants me to fly to Las Vegas (she's doing more teaching) and then we'll fly on to Reno that weekend and then on to San Jose on the 31st...I think I'll be back home on the 5th....Just so she knows what I'm doing because I sure don't......
As for my dinner, that's hard to say...We'll see where the car decides to stop......
You all have a great day...........
Happy eating...............

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, Aug (AUGUST!!) 1st
Good morning,
I did go to Joanne's and bought material for the wedding quilt, washed it, added the sashing to a couple of blocks,.....and I hate it. But I am using a fabric that I already had. Did a couple of blocks and I love this fabric. But, of course, I have added another fabric to my stash. Want to use the LARGE stash up not add to it. Lol. Should go through my stash and donate it to my large quilting group. They call the donations fantastic finds.
Use to be called the dog pile. Lol
LUke and I are home for the entire day. YAY!!! Too hot 106 to walk the boy. Hope it cools down or that I get up around 4 am to walk him. So today will be cleaning the bathroodms and sewing the wedding quilt the rest of the day.
My fanny,is still giving me problems when I sit, but I think it is getting better or I am getting use to having to split the time I sit and stand. Lol Gosh, does that even make sense.
Tonight's dinner will be beef stew. DH will have noodles to put it over. Hmm I have a weigh in tomorrow....no noodles for me. My RA told me last week that I am anemic so should eat more red meat and leafy green veggies. Also call my general Doctor. Gave me a copy of the blood work to take to him. Hmm guess I will make an appointment today.
Well better get this tush up or I will never get everything done. Have a calm and wonderful day.
Carole

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wednesday, Aug (AUGUST!!) 1st
Good morning!
Ethan will be going home shortly. Sarah is done and stopping off at Emma's and bringing her out here to play at Ethan's house. Ethan is very excited.
Not much here, a few uglies. Already changed the bedding and will do the guest bedroom as well. The dust bunnies need to be rounded up and booted out!
Then off to sew the final and fourth border on the sunflower quilt.
Dinner - I think it will be the sweet and sour chicken over rice. May make it fried rice.
Mary - there was not doubt in my mind that you would get that quilt done in time to be shipped off. I love to meander on my LA with loop -d- loops. It is my go to pattern.
Irish - you will be busy with all that travel. It will be lots of fun for you to be with Kathy. I would suggest that any wine country trips may be out with the fires in Mendocino county. Tbere are a couple in Napa as well.
Carole - good luck at your meeting - you will succeed!
Time to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana

Hello everyone, rainy here but I got my walk in before it started.Glad for that bec it’s supposed to be here awhile.
Maryz I knew that quilt would be finished. Now just get it quilted.
Yes I’m doing exercises for hand.Prayers for Bills DB & Family.
Carole If you can sit & sew it is getting better. At one time I couldn’t sit at all.Was miserable but it got better by my resting.it was my back & fanny too.
Linda Wow the air quality looks bad in the photo.Best to stay inside .And your heat would get me.
Irish You are sure going for a vacation.Know you will enjoy being with Kathy.
Sure sorry about your DBIL.And his wife.Sure she appreciates you being with her.Prayers for them too.
Jana Sure it’s quiet without Ethan. Those little people liven up the place.
Got most of my uglies done all but the den. They are supposed to bring new mattress tomorrow so It won’t do much good cleaning with this rain.
I’m shredding the chicken for sandwiches.DH is having a bad day so he’s not hungry at all.I have corn on cob & sauted onions & squash. Becca

Good evening. Carole, do you have a big cast iron skillet or Dutch oven? They pass them out in 3rd world countries to combat iron deficiencies. It is especially good if you cook something with tomatoes, like chili.

I may stop at the Indian place and get chicken masala. We can split one. I would add some yogurt with cucumbers, kind of like riata. And tomato slices. Sounds good. That's a decision. I have to write in little chunks, because I am on my phone and if it gets too long, it covers up the add button

Last night Mom made pancakes with homemade blueberry sauce and eggs. I was busy working on my snowman. I have a fun dilemma. I didn't buy enough of my black fabric. I really like it, so I have to figure out which of the 8 shops from the shop hop I found it, and go on a road trip.

Irish, Mary does tweak the imagination, doesn't she? I also have visions the Chickie's cattle dancing in the rain in my head.

Jana, your talk of the fourth border on your sunflower quilt made me see a medallion quilt with cool borders around a big block. I don't know that's what your quilt is like, but I want to make one like that, soon.
Have a great day, everybody! Love, Pam
