Good morning!
Happy Bill's birthday! This morning I gave him new gym shorts and cash to buy 2 gun safes for his pistols. Actually, one is mine, but he's pretty much in charge of our artillery. Cabela's, here we come! Tonite I'm taking him out for pizza and I did make his chocolate cake. It's from the recipe on the back of the Hershey's Dark Cocoa can (a tip from Tina that it was a good one). I added a big glop of peanut butter to it to give it a hint of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup taste. The frosting is from the back of the can, too. I'm not a big chocolate cake fan myself, but this one looks to be decadently delicious. I made a little 3-1/2" cake for us for tonite and made a big cake for the freezer to pull out next Tuesday when we go out with friends to celebrate both Bill's and our friend, Claudia's birthdays.
I also worked on my Gypsy Dancer quilt. I'm halfway finished with Section #7 of 10 sections. I wasn't sure about this project when I started, but the more I get into it the more I love it! This quilt has attitude!!
I don't have time today to chat. Y'all have a great day and enjoy your supper. See you tomorrow!

Good morning and Happy Birthday to Bill!!
We've been in house cleaning mode here, I even recruited Frankie to help, I say since he's retired that I shouldn't be the only one to do it all.
I have a hair appointment in a little bit, it's been 5 months since I got my hair trimmed, I'm past due. We have the big family reunion starting today so I don't have to cook for 2 days!
Dad went to the skin cancer Dr this morning, I'm waiting to hear from him now.

Good morning! We are getting ready to leave to go to DH’s appointment with his surgeon. All has been going well. This is just one of his last check-ups.
Tina—I’m debating about cutting my hair again. You said 5 months since your last trim, I trim on mine all the time. That’s why it’s such a mess. I haven’t found anyone I want to pay over here, so no professional has touched my hair since 2005! Scary!!! No cooking! Who-hoo!!! Hope your dad gets a good report. Yes, you shouldn’t do it all when DH is retired!
Becca—I certainly hope that dog doesn’t go after the small children!!! A friend’s kindergartener was mauled by a German Shepherd on her way home from kindergarten—a sweet little 5 year old girl had numerous stitches and surgeries on her face.
Mary—have a fun dinner! I keep looking at Gypsy Dancer (Wife)!!! It would be fun to work in orophan blocks if possible and a total improve quilt. Your cake sounds yummy! Just the right size!
I have to cook tonight, so need to look in the freezer… unless we bring something home this afternoon. Not checking freezer yet! I get to go see my DD at her work on our way to the appointment. I’m taking her some jalapeno jelly and blackberry/jalapeno jam.
Bon appétit!

Good morning!
Just got home from buying my new chairs. We will keep the best of the old ones and use it. Sarah and Michael are heading up to SLC to the warehouse and pick them up. It will take about a hour - no reason to wait 2 weeks and pay them a delivery fee of $100!
Sarah is with her dad, as her truck's u joint went out and we had to pick her up at the repair shop. We were on our way to the furniture store when she called. Good timing!
Dinner is leftover corned beef turned into a grilled sandwich with some swiss cheese added. A salad too. Sarah picked up some fresh freestone peaches, Michael's favorite, so I will slice some up for him.
Mary - Happy Birthday to Bill. I have a reccipe for peanut butter frosting that I use on chocolate cupcakes that is yummy.
Tina - I too need a haircut and have let mine grow out about 5 inches. I keep telling Michael I want to cut it shorter again and he gives me the look and I live with it longer.
Chickie - glad that DH is doing so well.
Becca - in Calif we had aneighbor with a vivious dog that would bark and charge at the kids. A short 5 foot fence, but thank goodness, the doberman never tried to jump it.
Well, must get uglies done,
Enjoy,
Jana

Happy midday-
Started early, as usual, because of the heat (daily in the 100's) and smoke from the Yosemite fires. First I planted zinnias in the the bed by the pool. I used a bulb digger to make the holes and wore two holes in the palms of my hands doing it. Should have worn material gloves instead of rubber ones. Planted 2 flats of them. Then moved indoors and worked up 10 trays of peaches and nectarines for the dehydrator. DH offered to peel the fruit which cut my prep time in half. Right now he is in the sun room re-webbing a lawn chair. He is very handy to have around.
The tile man and our contractor came yesterday to measure the master bath for its makeover so it is finally going to be done. No firm date yet, but this will be the last reno project. The house will be all done and just the way we want it. Hope we can live in it for another 10 years and enjoy the fruits of all this labor.
Happy birthday to Bill, Mary. My birthday is Monday and DH already gave me my birthday present... a new Oral B electric toothbrush. I left my other one at one of the hotels on our trip several weeks ago so he replaced it. We are at the age where we don't need anymore stuff, just replace the stuff we have that gets lost or wears out.
Sad to say, the big city disease has reached our small town. 3 blocks away from us was a shooting last week, killing a 18 y/o Mexican kid. It has all the earmarks of gang shooting. Then across town a Mexican mother drowned her 2 young kids and hanged herself. What is happening to our quiet little town. I don't feel safe anymore. We already can't leave the garage door open or everything disappears.
Nothing else going on right now. Just trying to stay cool and out of the smoke. Dinner is at our favorite Mexican restaurant about 1/2 hour away. We need to get out at least once a week to put some miles on the vehicles, or the batteries will go dead. Funny how homebound we have become since we retired.
Blessings to you all and hope you stay cool. Prayers for those in need.

I had a big lunch, and Dan isn't all that worried about eating. We may just skip supper, and move on to dessert. We are going to Mom and Dad's, tonight, to the three birthday party. We will have two different cakes, and at last count, there are 5 offerings of ice cream. Not that we have to eat all of it. lol.
My day was spent working, and shopping - fun! I got acrylic paints, brushes, canvasses, and a palette, for my nephew. He is 13. He likes to do artistic stuff, but I have never seen him painting. We will see if he likes the idea. I would love to have gotten it for my birthday. I got Pioneer Woman mixing bowls and measuring bowls and a water bottle, for my sisterinlaw. They are very pretty. I wouldn't have room for them, but I would love to get them, too. They have flowers on them, and are pretty colors.
Have a great day!
Love,
Pam
