SUPPER CLUB - Sat, May 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat May 26, 2018 9:11 am

Good morning,

Well, I got all my Santas' cheeks embroidered with a rosy spiral and now the top is together. I have the first of four borders on. After it's all quilted, I will have to sew on tiny button eyes and 3-D mustaches. Plus I designed a pieced snowman block with appliqued nose and eyes as well as an embroidered smile. So now I'm working on THOSE blocks as well. I have to say, I will be happy when I finally get done with all my Christmas fabrics and I can put them back in the cabinet.

IRISH - so sorry about your sis! and her hubby! Never rains but it pours! The ads for that movie, Book club, look fun. But with those actresses, it's bound to be! This might be new car weekend??! Oh, I do hope you have fun with that! There needs to be fun in your life!

CHICKIE - let's see if your tears and/or hissy fit work. The vinyl would be so much easier to care for. I guess you could always 'accidentally' drop a big jug of bleach all over that carpet. In fact, that might be the 'argument' you should open with. ;o} Yes, I took photos of my bargello. The quilt has so much action in it that the quilting doesn't really show much. It's just a meander with stars here and there. I didn't post a photo because I think I posted one when I finished the top. Didn't want to bore people.

BECCA - yesterday, after I asked if your hubby has been checked for internal bleeding I remember that he is on blood thinners and that the doctor would probably be on top of that possibility. It's one of the reasons for checking his blood so frequently. Duh on me! As for being a renter, I, too, have always been a careful renter. I always cleaned cupboards, scrubbed bathrooms, shampooed the carpets, and then mopped my way out the door before turning in the key.

TINA - don't worry about your dad driving to Virginia. (I assume he's taking the motorhome). He's fairly healthy as far as you know, right? And he's younger than my two older brothers, both of whom are still driving long distances. In fact, the oldest, at 83, is still long hauling. It's a good sign that he's doing something, making a plan, getting involved, seeing family. I would like chickens, but the reason we don't have them is because of traveling. Pets go with us in the trailer. I draw the line at chickens. We set up sprinklers on timers at the beginning of the summer and take them down in the fall. If the weeds grow, I count it God's wish and don't worry about them! I have the same philosphy in regards to dust inside the house. ;o]

BECKY - sorry you have to spend your Saturday doing mulch for someone else. Can't blame the kids for not being enthusiastic. Mine HATED yard work. My older DD (she's 46) still complains about having to do her own yard work. And she has such a small yard that I could do the whole thing in 1/2 hour! lol! It used to take me two weeks to make a complete round through our yard, working 6-8 hours a day. Now it takes me 4 days working 3 hours a day. I think I've relaxed my standards. lol! When we have to start relying on others to do it for us (and they aren't going to do that!), we'll be selling or living in a jungle.

LINDA - welcome home! sounds like you had a nice trip seeing lots of fun things and getting to meet new family! Sorry about the dehydrater. It really was worth the money spent on it after all these years! Hope your DH can fix it. I'd want to just stay home and relax, too. Campgrounds are full right now anyhow!

JANA - your Sarah is a wonder! Is there anything she can't do?? And I know she'll do a bang-up job, too! We're going to Costco today so I'll be doing the same as you tomorrow - repackaging for the freezer.

PAM - lucky you to find a nursing job with banker's hours. I worked evenings for a few years and then nights. And always every other weekend. I always thought I'd enjoy a day surgery clinic - no nights or weekends. But it didn't work out that way.

We made no plans for this weekend so decided to invite some friends over for campfire and BBQ tonite. So it's off to Costco and then to the regular store 'fer supplies'. We're going to look at steaks. Claudia is bringing bean salad. I'll do a green salad or baked potatoes, And bake an apple pie, and serve it with ice cream sandwiches. Or, when we get to the store and look at the meat, it might get changed to grilled chicken and rice pilaf.

What's tempting you for tonite?

Happy Memorial Day Weekend. Dan and I went in a drive through Erie to Ohio. We did the local routes, and stopped at a couple greenhouses for heirloom tomato plants. We went fancy and ate a late lunch at Dairy Queen.

I have some gardening to do, tomorrow.
Have a great day.
Love,
Pam
