Good morning!
It's going to be a pretty day here. I should do some laundry so I can hang it out on the lines. But I think there's even nicer days coming up so I believe I'll wait until then. Bill finished the bargello and I got the binding and label on. It's all boxed and ready for presentation! Whew! Then I worked on my Santas and have all the blocks together but still need to hand embroider the rosy cheeks accent on 3 more blocks. But I can start putting them together today. I also moved a few things around (again!) in my sewing room. I can utilize my cutting table more easily now without twisting my back, but the cat basket isn't just how it was. I got some cold stares over that. Cats, for all their curiosity, don't like changes with THEIR stuff. Today I hope to get my Santas almost finished. I'm anxious to get started on my snowman quilt next.
By the way, in case any of you try to Messenger me, we no longer have that capability. Bill learned that it isn't secure so he cancelled it. So you can text me, e-mail me, PM me, call me, or even write to me, but you can't messenger me any more. Sorry.
JANA - I bet it hurt to get rid of all your paints! I have a shoebox full and they would go, too, if we moved. It took me some practice to get the hang of machine binding, but I stuck with it and now wouldn't do it any other way. That bargello would have taken me at least 5 evenings of hand stitching (12 hours or so). But I got it done in about 45 minutes by machine.
IRISH - why can't your sister drive? Did I miss something? Was her hubby still in a rehab facility and she's just hoping for him to
come home or was he actually home? Is she able to care for him if he does come home? How are her hands? I'm so glad you have your baby to look forward to. And that she was waving to you! I bet they name her after you! "Irish" is a nice name! My sister's cat was named Irish.
PAM - you really took on an expensive project with your 'girls', bless you! Those dogs needed you! I saw a black great dane the other day at the vet. I love Danes. They are so big but seem so gentle. Before I knew him, my late husband, Roy, had one named 'Michelle' and he said one Thanksgiving she wagged her tail and swept the ham right off the table!
TINA - What's the chicken head count so far? Looks like another family meeting is in order to discuss Dad's diet. Or at least a discussion with the other cook. Nice that Frankie does yard work. Does he weed, too? Bill will mow and weed whack, and blow the cement parking pads about every two weeks. And if I'm working out there he will pick up my slash piles with the tractor. But he's not going to pull a weed or a blackberry bush, or any of the million little maple trees that sprout every year. Not his job! lol!
CHICKIE - You know, you might just start ripping out carpet on your own, and tell Doyal later that, on closer inspection, you saw that it just wasn't salvageable. What's he gonna do? Sew it all back together? Bill's philosophy on life is that it's better to ask for forgiveness than for permission. lol! Nice job on all those mints! You couldn't buy those! What a loving, personal touch to the wedding. and congrats on the new engagement! Can't wait to hear when this wedding will be. Do you make wedding quilts for all these young couples?
BECCA - so sorry your hubby isn't doing well. and that he caught you out in the yard! How is he doing on keeping hydrated? Another thing that can cause low BP is loss of blood. Has he been evaluated for internal bleeding? My dad and also our friend, Lois, were and it took a while before the doctors figured it out. They were both using aspirin for arthritis and taking way too much. But there are other causes, too.
Now, for the grand unveiling of my supper plans for tonite - ta da! Stir-fry veggies over rice! And maybe a bit of chicken thrown in there, too. Bill loves stir fry so he's happily contemplating his dinner now.
What are you contemplating for tonite?

Good morning from a purrrfect warm, sunny day in SW. Pa....We really couldn't ask for anything better......
Mary, When my eyes opened at 6:30, I knew I was going to get those sheets on the line, early...In fact, the neighbor gal laughed at me out so early and my shoes soaked from the dew...But, Cari is coming and I wanted the sheets to be special....Isn't it funny how the cats react when you move something.....
With my sister, it's all bad news! She toppled into or out of her planter last week and has a nasty concussion and her DH has been in a nursing home but has been in and out of the hospital often...He's diabetic along with lots of other problems and also starting dementia...Yesterday, he was admitted with an infection in his right foot that now has spread to the bone....The surgeon is very concerned, said he will do everything possible before he has to amputate.....My sister kept thinking, if he just got strong enough, she could bring him home but I honestly don't see that happening...She was the one who kept telling me, I wouldn't be able to bring Jim home and now she's going through the same thing....Just not good.....
So, now I'm off to the hospital for a little while and then meeting a friend later and we're to see that movie, Book Club...Not much in the mood for a movie but we'll see.....
This really might be a busy weekend, with Cari and all the kids visiting and I think this might be the "new car" weekend...Neighbor gal came over and said she wants to buy my old one and has a check ready, so this might be it! Too many things happening all at once and this old body can't take this much excitement, lol.....
As for dinner, hopefully we'll get a bite after the movie...If not, I have a new bag of chips......
You all have a great day......
Happy eating..................
If anyone has any spare prayers, please think of my sister and her DH.......Bless you all.......

Good morning! We are overcast this morning. Supposed to have storms, but so far have received only a few sprinkles here. I’ve completed my yoga practice for the day and am ready when DH arrives from coffee. I’ll make brunch, then we will go to town and on to his doctor appointment. He wants to check the rentals and see if by any remote chance the slimewads have cleaned out anything. We are such optimists… I guess the higher our expectations, the harder we fall, and the higher we bounce back. It seems to be the story of the rentals. Clean, repair, make nice, rent, destroyed, repeat the cycle again… Bounce, bounce, bounce…
Irish—my heart is with your sister. My aunt is going through much the same thing with her DH… the foot infections, rehab, long-term nursing… I feel for all of you! I hope you will enjoy “Book Club”—you need a break!
Mary—I would rip out the carpet myself, but it’s more of a job than I can do. I’m going to talk hard for laminate throughout. It’s really disgusting at the duplex! If talking doesn’t work… there’s always tears… then hissyfit! I do not make quilts for the couples. I’ve never been sure they would actually use them or put them in the next garage sale. I know that’s awful, but why waste my time and money. Congrats on the bargello finish! Did you take photos after the quilting was completed?
Pam—DH whines every time I visit the vet. We have three dogs who found us as dumpees on the country roads. DH complains that our free dogs are so expensive. Only Tinker Bell has had a second spaying operation, and she still has pseudo heat with all the visiting dogs, bleeding, etc. She’s a mystery. The little ones just get routine neutering, and the flea and tick and worm meds along with Tinker Bell.
Tina—how was picnic day? I think that’s so neat! My DGS and I had the tradition of Saturday breakfasts at Waffle House until I moved over here. He took me to lunch there a couple of years ago as a treat and trip down Memory Lane. He hadn’t forgotten… Your DGKs will remember the special times with you!
Dinner tonight… we’ll see. DH should get released from the doc today, so he may want steak or something fun. I’d go for that. I’m always up for no cooking! Otherwise… the usual. I’m now the one with the soft foods—still waiting on a call from my dentist… maybe next week! DH will have his choice, although we may need to stop at the store if he doesn’t want to go out. I don’t mind a box of leftovers when he can’t eat very much.
Bon appétit!

Good morning

Irish, sorry to hear about your sister and BIL, prayers things get better.
Chickie, it was a fun picnic, we all enjoyed it and the weather was terrific!
Mary, yep Frankie pulls weeds, he pulls more weeds than me....he'll even pull weeds where I'm working, I have a hard time pulling them up sometimes. I have tons of yard work to do out back but it's waiting till Sunday, we're going to Kevin's tomorrow he's fixing us lunch. Menu won't be changing for Dad at my brother's house, they eat steak and homemade fries 2-3 times a week.
Dad will be on his own for June, he's making a trip to Virginia to see his brothers and sisters, he said he'll be home for the whole month. None of us are very happy that he's going by himself but nothing we can do about it either. He did invite me and Frankie to go but we can't because of our animals, garden, pond, chickens etc it's all too much to ask anyone to take care of for a whole month too. We're at 10 chicks, we lost the last one, it just had too many problems and couldn't eat and drink right. We'll get a couple pullets next year at the feed store to add to ours, Frankie wants an even dozen and out of our 10 we don't know how many are hens yet.
We had burgers and salad last night, a light supper....we only eat the burger on our plate, no bread.
We might do something on the grill tonight but I gotta check the freezer to see what's in there.
Tina

Hi ladies,
Well, we have chances of showers all day. Someone said that it is raining now.....Hummmm Maybe weed pulling in our flower beds this weekend, although, JR does have them looking decent now, since Brytt's party last weekend.....Mulch party at JR's mom's tomorrow, anyone want to come? I think she thinks that the younger grands will be coming to help, but she forgets that they all have work and personal lives, and on a holiday weekend, don't think many will show....I know that a couple of ours have work, and one is out of town, starting tonight for the weekend. Funny, he is going with another one that I think is expected tomorrow.....Oh well, it is what it is....we will do what we can...
Prayers for your DBIL Irish, and your DH too, Becca....
Chickie, I feel your pain with the renters....I absolutely hated ours....We were talking about you this morning on the way to work....were your ears burning? We were trying to think how many we had over the years that left the places decent.....very few, for sure. JR was talking about the one that he expected to leave it the worse was actually the one that left it neat as a pin.....I remember that guy. Big ol' biker dude that JR had to evict....Just never know.
Tonight, I have a lasagna that I stuck in the freezer that we didn't need last weekend, so will have Brytt stick it in the oven around 4:30 and just make a salad and garlic toast when we get home. You all have a great weekend....Becky

Afternoon all-
Finally back home after a two weeks away. First my sister flew to my house and we drove to the coast (San Luis Obispo) to attend our cousin's celebration of life. There we met 6 more cousins that we had never seen. It was great to see family we had never been allowed to know as children. We then continued up the coast to Monterey and visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We were two nights on the road before we turned for home. After 2 more days, we drove down to San Diego and I returned my sister home then went to stay 4 days with my elderly aunt. I am her trustee and guardian and I have to check on her regularly. She is 85, OCD, and controlling. She can still feed herself, self care is good, drives a little and has a clear mind. So it is not time to remove her from her house yet. Her OCD is slowing her down, though and I noticed the yard is getting too hard for her to keep up. I did what I could to tidy it but she is so controlling she wouldn't let me do much. Then it was back to my sister's for the rest of the week. She lives in a destination trailer on her son's property, so I got to see and play with my nephews. It is out in the country, so the 4 year old took me all over the property to see all the black ants, red ants, little ants, rabbits, beetles, gopher holes and squirrel bones. It was fun!
Now I am home and just spent the morning dehydrating apricots. I have my mother's 2 old (1977) big square dryers, can do 20 trays at a time. However, one of them just quit. DH will look at it later and see if he can fix it. Good thing it quit before I had filled it, so the peaches and nectarines will have to wait until the apricots are done. Also still doing strawberries for another month.
Not doing anything for the the holiday weekend, just trying to catch up with my life here at home. No internet at my sister's or my aunt's house so I have LOTS to catch up on.
You all take care....

Good afternnon!
What a treat to see so many at the table!
Irish and Becca - you are both in my prayers, all the time! Well, the rest of you too. Have a long list, that takes awhile, but there are not more important things that can't wait!
I have been repackaging my Costco shopping spree from yesterday. Into meal size portions for just the two of us. Also hulling strawberries for DH and shortcakes tonight. Ethan will be here for dinner.
Ethan here, because Sarah was asked by the head of the Witness Music group, the composer, to be the President and reorganize how the chapters across the nation are run. Quite a job to do, but Sarah is more than capable and will have a executive staff as well. Tonight is her first meeting. This after Sarah sat on her hands and let the one giving her fits mess up everything. The group knew what Sarah could do and she did, saving the performances this past season. The woman giving Sarah fits, will not be asked to serve in the new organization.
Dinner - I have a number of things I can make, but leaning toward a steak salad. Strawberry shortcake - cheating with a slice of pound cake for afters.
Lots of prayers!
Enjoy,
Jana

We went to Applebees and used our Christmas present gift card - so it was reasonable. DH had tomato basil soup and a big salad. I had nice red meat steak and forbidden little food, with smashed red potatoes and broccoli and cole slaw. Very fun. And for some reason it wasn't SRO, yet.
Then, we went to Aldi's and picked up red raspberries, blue berries, cool whip, and nilla wafers for a layered fruit concoction for Mom and Dad's on Sunday.
It is every single weekend that I thank my lucky stars that I have a job with banker's hours. It is predictable, and I get holidays off.
Wow, Mary. You are busy. And you just keep busying along. They call great danes the gentle giants. They are so emotional. Sometimes, their feelings get hurt, and you don't even know why. Daphne is my demonstrative dog. She leans against you and lays on you. Sometimes, when we are sitting on the couch, she sits straight and tall against the back and looks over her shoulder at you. That is your cue to open your arms so she can flop over on top of you. Zoey is more refined. She sniffs you as her way of closeness. She keeps a social distance. Sometimes, I bend down and kiss her on the head. She looks away.
Irish, I am thinking of your sister and BIL. That is such a hard transition, and it's hard to make those decisions. Have fun car shopping.
Chickie, I sometimes wonder if it is worth it to rent. There is a lot of cost, when they move out. But it is. Dan understands why Grandpa used to threaten to get a bulldozer and push the rental houses over the bank
Becca, we are warmer, again, and very happy. Weather is sunny and in the 70's. Can't get any better than that. I am glad that yours is more comfortable.
Tina, my SIL and BIL are raising chicks. They have a few more than they did last year. This year, they didn't name each one. Last year, instead of taking them back to the tractor store to get replacements, they we out in the rain, digging graves for a couple chicks that didn't make it. They are so sweet.
Becky, the rain will kickstart those darn weeds, but it makes the flowers grow, too. Just so long as you get sun part of the weekend!
Linda, that sounds like a wonderful trip. Making fresh memories. DH and I need to go away for the weekend, sometime.
Jana, I can't wait untill we get nice ripe fresh strawberries, around here. Soon, now.
Have a great evening, everybody.
