Be Bold to Ask
1 Chronicles 4:9-10
A part from these two verses, Jabex doesn't show up anywhere else in Scripture. Yet his brief mention here left a lasting impression. He prayed boldly, and then "God granted his request".
Jabez, whose name sounded like the Hebrew word for "pain" made four requests
1. For God's blessing
2. For God's provision
3. For God's presence
4. For God's protection.
All of these things are what God wants for us. It is God's pleasure to bless us and provide for us, to be with us and protect us. But He wants us to pray and ask. Ans so often we don't. Too often we think we don't deserve His blessings or that it is being selfish to ask. Sometimes we pursue things in our own strength and fail to recognize God's goodness in wanting to be our provider. Often we don't want to seem as if we are asking for too much as if God is limited in what He has to give.
Have you ever prayed boldly like Jabez did? if not, start by thanking God for all He has already given you and then ask for the desires of your heart. Ask Him to bless you so you can serve His purposes and bless others.
Hugs and prayers
