Good morning!
Lotsa rain yesterday but I think we're all done with that now for at least a week. Good, we have have some camping to do! We'll be going about 140 miles north and east of us on the Skagit River.
Yesterday I got a lot done on my Christmas Wreath quilt until about 1pm. Then Bill wanted to run some errands and Costco was on the way. I needed a few things for camping so I went along. Then we had a sudden invite to friends for burgers so I made a potato salad to take along. These friends have been gone since early Feb, traveling in their RV so it was good to catch up.
My morning docket is long: walk, chiropractor, buy flowers for my mom's grave, see if anything else needs to be packed in trailer other than fridge items, and sew if there's time. This afternoon I hope to be loading a quilt onto my quilt frame and get a good start on quilting it. That's my planned day.
CHICKIE - You are really a boot fan! And I think your new boots or your bootie sandals will be go beautifully with whatever you wear to the wedding. BTW, when is that wedding? I know it's soon. Men are indeed stubborn critters! If one of his coffee guys had told him it was a pulled muscle, then he would have believed him! how was the pinning ceremony. There was no pinning ceremony when I graduated. The nursing class was just assimilated into the rest of the college graduation. I was a little disappointed.
VELDA - the curry in my salad the other night was mostly in the dressing (and it was good). Salad was romaine, raisins, and cashews coasted with something. I fold all my teeshirts - at home and in the trailer. I hang long sleeves and collars.
BECCA - you have a big weekend ahead of you! have you got your outfit all set to go? I hear you on the grocery store troubles. We shop Costco, mainly, as it's only 3 miles away, but fill in our grocery gaps at regular stores, mostly Fred Meyer (owned by Kroger). But they built a big new store and moved across the highway and I DO NOT LIKE IT. It's too big, we can't find anything, and they hiked their prices big time. So now we go to Safeway, who USED to be the expensive store.
I had thawed pork chops yesterday but then we ended up going to our friends, so tonite will be the chops and some leftover potato salad. and regular green salad.
What's the story on your supper tonite?

Good early afternoon from not as warm and slightly overcast, SW. Pa...But, with the long list of inside stuff to get done, it's a good day to try to tackle some of them....
Mary, I really wish I had a Costco near me but with the little bit of shopping I do, probably wouldn't buy much...BUT, I sure so enjoy all the samples and "visiting" the store...My lunch gals and I usually plan a day trip, take 2 cars and of course that includes lunch...We don't go any where without a plan for lunch.....When are you leaving on this trip and how long will you be gone? I know you've told us but I don't retain too much any more, lol....
I swear, some of the cartoons are being made of my neighbor, Donna and I...You know the old lady ones...She and I were talking the other night about a super good chicken sandwich place and for the life of me, neither could remember the name...I could even taste it and still couldn't come up with the name until about 2 hours later, it popped into my head and of course I had to call her and told her to write it down...We've always prided ourselves with being the "most normal" ones on the street but boy any more, not sure about that.....But it is good to have company.....
I feel left out of the boot scooting bunch...Don't think I've ever had a pair but did some square dancing in my day, if that counts....And it's a wonder my feet aren't the size of the shoe boxes from all the bare footing I did..Even being told, my feet would grow if I stepped in those cow patty's, nope, didn't work.....
I'm granddog (Scout) sitting this weekend...Terry and DW went to pick up Nick at college and finish packing up all the stuff in the NC house (might be a buyer)...Sadly, I'll only have Nick a week and then he starts his internship...But, just having him in the area for the summer will be great....I really had to laugh when they brought Scout...You would have thought he was coming for a month, complete with his little suitcase, comfy bed and a list of likes and dislikes...And we all know, he likes trips to McDonalds which will be on our schedule for today.....
But, I am going to hem the new curtains for the bedroom, do the windows and then scrub the carpets upstairs...I am anxious to get started on 2 baby quilts, both for girls....
Cari told her brother, the baby is now the size of a controller for a TV video game...Funny what men actually relate to, lol....
As for my dinner, I might have a hamburger, loaded with onions and mushrooms...I picked up a very small package of ground meat with that in mind...Not sure if I'll use the grill or not......
You all have a great day.....
Happy eating..............

Good afternoon! We are under high wind wrnings until this evening. The Hooligans and I walked down to see Ava and were practically blown off the road. We could use the rain, but it just blows by here. Now there is none in the forecast.
Sounds like you had a fun evening, Mary! You’re right about “the guys know it all” (even when we are right). The wedding is June 16 (or thereabouts). I have to make the mints one of these days. The pinning ceremony was really neat and a lot of fun! It was much more raucous than the ones I watched 30+ years ago when I worked for the dean and as secretary to the nursing department while their regular secretary was off on maternity leave. There were at least 30 in the class. It was live streamed , and relatives were watching in Taiwan, Russia and the Middle East as well as the US. I thought that was pretty cool. We went to the reception after and made our appearance and returned home. It was a nice evening. Your salad sounds delicious. I wonder what the cashews had for coating. I’m sure I could find a curry salad dressing online to make.
Tina—I did my yoga practice, but first I fed the dozens of orioles, the rest of the birds, re-did the hummer feeder (we have dozens and dozens of them!), and made more hummer food. I’ll be re-placing again today for the orioles and hummers.
Irish—I’ve only been in a Costco once. Sam’s used to sample on Saturdays, but since I don’t live over there any more, I don’t have a membership. I think lunch is always a good plan! My sisters and I have decided we need a planning lunch (or several more) to plan Mom’s 100th birthday event in November. Square dancing absolutely counts!!! Treat Scout special and yourself as well!!! The onion and mushroom burger… yum!!! That’s a hoot about the baby size!!! Guys!!! LOL!!!
I did very little yesterday, so I need to hit my sewing room and make up for it. I want to get back to those scraps!
I’ve thawed some ground beef and will cook that up. Since DH eats so little, I’ll be making some mini tacos—maybe using wonton wrappers in muffin tins… a perfect portion for DH (and for me). Some may be made into taco soup. Do you see a theme here… Meanwhile, there’s also yogurt and cottage cheese.
Bon appétit!

Hi, everybody. It is chilly, here. In the 40's and 50's. In January, that's a heat wave, but now it's chilly.
I am making italian ravioli soup for supper. I made that name up. I have chicken broth, spinach, petite diced tomatoes n chilis, black beans, and raviolis. I was going to make it with tortalinis, but you got more raviolis for the same price. I may chop up an onion for it, too.
I went to visiting hours for a man I have known for years, today. It was one of those here today, gone tomorrow things. Just last week, he was talking about his paint by numbers projects and his cats. He had a freak accident, choked and died. Makes me want to hug my honey, spend time with my parents, and cherish our family time.
I bought some goodies to use for the block lottery, but haven't started, yet. Over the weekend I will.
Mary, I've never been to a Costco. I have heard that they take care of their employees. We had a Sam's near us, but it closed. There are BJ's in Buffalo. I am more of an Aldi's and Savealot kind of girl.
Irish, I remember the joys of nice sun warmed cow patties all squishy in your toes. I think what spread my feet was the extra weight I carry around, as opposed to them. It is awesome that you can watch the grandpuppy. My parents can't, anymore, because their dogs are mean to my one baby. And the other baby doesn't leave the house.
Tina, I love chili rellenos, but I have never made them myself. I get them almost everytime we go to El Azteka.
Chickie, it's fun to walk in the wind and have it push you down the road. Sometimes you can pretend you are flying.
I am excited, because asparagus season is here. They pick tomorrow from 9-10. Yesterday was their first picking. I think they waited too long, it looks like there is tons in the field. It used to be you had to show up a half hour early and be ready to decsend when Mr Jordan got there. It was all gone in ten minutes. But they supersized the field, and there is now plenty.
Have a great day!
Pam
