Good morning! We are beautiful again here today! Our high is going for 76, but tomorrow will be 56 and rain. I’m not complaining, we really can use the moisture! I have several Baltimore orioles at the humming bird feeders and the tin of grape jelly. Yesterday I thought I heard a hummer overhead, but I didn’t see it. We planted some Arbor Day trees—now to keep them alive. My green thumb is pretty brown. We also looked for mushrooms yesterday, and I got more ticks than mushrooms by five fold! (Only one mushroom and at least five ticks! UGH!!! I hate tick season which is most of the year here when you are outdoors.)

DH is still doing well… 30 pounds and no blood sugar medication. He has jell-o, broth and protein drinks as well as lots of water.

Mom was doing well Saturday. My sister was out of town, and BIL brought meatloaf, scalloped potatoes and broccoli for our lunch. He’s an excellent cook! In my next life, I’ve decided that husband criteria will be that he cooks!!!

I finished the hexagon quilt, and I haven’t started any projects. I want to do some house cleaning—desperate need here! If it’s chilly and rainy, that may happen tomorrow. Not sure what my next sewing project will be. My bucket list is so long!

Had to laugh at the pouffy dresses! I grew up in can-cans under my cotton skirts. I couldn’t stand the scratchy net now, for sure! My senior prom dress had lots of rows of gathered tulle, and it was a costume for several generations of little girls as they played dress up with the treasures in Mom’s upstairs closet.

Pam, it will be interesting to see how DH accepts his new lifestyle. He’s really committed, but he’s longing for biscuits and gravy and fried chicken gizzards. I’m not sure he will ever see any of them again… maybe, but not in the near future. He loves dessert, but if he eats his protein first, he won’t be getting dessert. Even if I didn’t fix dessert, he’d scrounge around for something sweet.

Becca—not sure I could stand DH’s current diet, no matter how much I wanted to lose weight. It’s way too severe.

Last evening, our neighbor brought over a mess of fresh asparagus! I will be having that for dinner tonight! Last night, I confess, I had pond fruit. DS1 and DDIL went out in the boat on the pond yesterday, and I snagged a few fillets for my dinner. They were definitely worth Mary’s wrath!

I’m not sure where Mary is this morning. I know Bill’s brother may not be doing well, and then there’s the Vicki situation… Hope all is good and they just slept in today!

Bon appétit!

Good morning!

Chickie - great news on DH. My nephew after his surgery was taken off all his diabetic meds too.

Today will be leftovers from last night with the kids. They mowed all the lawns. Cut it a little too short for us, but they came and did it on their own. A sevice to us - love my grands to pieces!

Sarah will come over later today to finish the drip pipe - she forgot to buy a piece.

Had a nice surprise visit from one of my nieces. I rarely get to see her. She is the oldest of my evil brother, so I try to stay out of family issues. But she loves me, despite her father and came to visit. She now lives in Arizona, right on the border. Got caught up on her life and her children and grandchildren. I got counting nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and the next generation too - over 75! Surprised me at how many I have!

Do something fun!
Enjoy!
Jana

Hello everyone,we started out with sun but then rain started again.Oh well I can sew.

Chickie That is a very severe diet. But then I remembered once I was sick & only ate broth for 2 wks .But thats not forever like Doyal is doing.I say great to any who can do it.
My hummers are feeding a lot now.Always think of you.Your DBIL must be trained well.lol

Jana Guess if they were sweet enough to cut the grass it doesn’t matter the length.

Pam My rocker was gray the hummer was on.I could have understood if it was red.

We went to town & DH found him some shoes. That was a big relief.Got DG Run Made & Drug Store pick up Med.So tomorrow All I have left is hair cut & Groceries.Yipee.

We have leftover beans with rice.If not happy with that it’s self serve.lol. Becca

Here I am! I was groggy at 5am this morning (who isn't!) and posted this in Sew-in. lol! Guess I need to make a rule: Drink coffee first!!

Happy Today!! We hit 72* yesterday and I spent 2 hours cleaning off our deck, blowing away pollen, and putting out cushions, quilts, and plants. Bill got the fountain up and running. It's looking great out there now. Then our happy hour friends, Gus & Claudia, called and said let's do happy hour! They just returned from a month's cruise in the South Pacific. Pictures were beautiful places, but cruises seem to involve boats and water. I'm no water fan. Or boat fan. Though if I'm in big water, I become a boat fan really fast.

Today I'll put binding on a quilt and hopefully get it into the mail for a friend. After our dental cleanings this morning. Bill filed a report with APS about Vicki. He said they weren't impressed at all with any of Vicky's behavior and all but promised they'd do nothing. This is our third report and the woman taking it was a different person from the past two years. At least the other person let us THINK they'd help. Frustrating.

I might do some yard work today since the weather is going to be so nice. But that Gypsy Wife is also fun and hard to put down.

BECCA - I think those dolls for the police cars is a great idea! I've had the idea to make quilts for our cops to carry, but I never seem to get any finished. Maybe I should do more realistic projects like you are.

JANA, I bet you cried over that dress! Did you salvage any fabric from it? Autumn graduated in 1995 also. I so badly wanted to make her senior prom dress but she was working in a tea shop at the time and her wealthy boss loved my Autie and wanted to buy her a dress. I was resisting but the woman won out. That dress was also very poofy, a concoction of black ruffles. I was flabbergasted when I learned what it cost. And so disappointed. It was my last chance to sew for my last baby. But she loved that dress, looked like a dream in it, and as far as I know she still has it.

BECKY - I love poofy dresses, but in 1969, A-lines were what was in. And I wanted to be 'in' so my prom dress and my wedding dress in 1971 were A-lines. But secretly, I wanted poofy!

PAM - you must be a kid yourself if you were going to proms in the 80's! You might ask Sears if anyone is going to pick up their detergent and market it. My neighbor across the road doesn't use detergent at all. She has some little magic laundry balls she tosses into the wash and she says it works just fine! I can get more details from her if you are interested in researching that. Also, have you tried Dreft or other detergents designed for babies?

TINA - there you are! Glad your sewing room is a bit cooler now. So the only change you made was to cool the room. Do you have insulated curtains in there? We have a bamboo shade outside that we can drop over ours and that really helps to keep the room cool. I drop them early in the day when the forecast is for hot weather. My sewing room faces west, to the setting sun.

As for supper, I'm going to finally cook those pork chops. We never ate them last night 'cuz our friends asked us to go out with them to our Mexican watering hole. Since it's warm out, we'll probably grill them with potatoes and spinach and tomatoes on the side. This week, we'll be eating out on our covered deck now that it's all fixed up as an extension of our living/dining room. By next weekend we'll be back to cool and showery, but that will be OK. What a gift this week is!

Hi ladies,
Not a lot going on today, work, then home to make dinner....not sure what yet, something with pork chops too...Too windy out to grill outside, so maybe smother them or something....maybe I could put them all on Doyal's diet! JR would benefit. Ha....
Glad your mom is doing ok Miriam....and I wish I had a bil that cooked too. One of mine in Nebraska grills out when we go up. He is decent at that, but he hollers for my sister to get the meat ready, get the sauces ready, get the sides ready. I asked her if it was worth all the extra work, she said no....LOL....
Becca, you get your errands done, lickety split. You should come do mine! I am horrible, I need a list, then sometimes, forget the list or if I have it, still forget something.
The poufy dresses are sure pretty, but I sure thought the prices extravagant...but what do I know....Last year, they both wore pencil thin gowns. Of course, this grandma thinks they need a jacket with them! Grandpa told them to not take off their winter coats.....Glad I am not in charge of the raising these days.....Glad you got pictures of Sarah's dress, Jana....I would hate to tackle anything close to these. The theme at the dance is some sort of princess theme. Brytt's is a soft pink and Ericka settled on a deep jewel tone purple.....
I guess I will put out my hummingbird feeders this weekend. Haven't really seen any signs of them yet.....You all have a great evening...Becky

Good evening, everybody. I picked up turkey subs and picked eggs for supper. It would be cheaper to pickle your own, but they were sitting right there and pretty purple. It is rainy, today.

My Aunt Stella went back to work, today. We are hoping she stays at work, this week. She is also my renter. She has been off a month, so no rent payments. She has been having trouble with her hip, and has been going to PT. She can't save up the money for a car, so Dan and I keep three. She is like the extra child I never knew I had. I have to schedule when I am coming to the house, to get her to clean the cat poop. I have been trying to get her to submit for income based repayment on her student loans. She said she looked into it, and you had to be 65. If she signed up for it, she could file her taxes and not have it taken. Instead, she just doesn't file, and lets the govt keep the money she would get. One of these days, I am going to have to sit her down and do it.

Sorry, Aunt Stelly is the baby of her family, and likes being taken care of. I am not sure why I signed up to be her caretaker, but we live with the life we set up.

Mary, that is a good idea about deft or baby laundry soaps. We have the Arm and Hammer, so we will try that first.

Chickie, it is awesome how well DH is doing. Going off Blood sugar meds is a major accomplishment.

Well, I need to start working on my house. My first step is tackling the clothes in my closet. I would like to get rid of the clothes I no longer use, and actually use my closet day to day. My goal for today, is 2 garbage bags to donate.
