Good morning!
I'm back! And when I get time, I'll be going back and checking to see how well the rules were followed while I was gone! Flinty eye stare, here. We had no internet and only had cell service when we left camp. So I sent a few texts to Chickie and Tina to let you all know we were still alive.
We enjoyed the long, sandy beaches. They claim the longest beach in the world, hence the name Long Beach. Not sure if that's true, but no one was arguing the point. We saw deer, smaller wildlife, and an eagle on the beach, snacking on some forbidden tidbit. we explored two lighthouses, toured a lot of Lewis and Clark historical places, including Fort Clatsop, where they spent the long winter of 1805-06. We hit a quilt shop in Astoria, OR even Scottie was invited in.
Our drive home yesterday was all on the back roads, mostly on Highway 101, the well-known scenic coastal route running the entire west coast. Vicky was hard at work while we were gone and had our front and back yards as well as our RV shelter completely barricaded. Took us a half-hour to move all her stuff - chairs, large planters, plastic shelving units, wheelbarrows, tomato cages, lumber, firewood racks, yard art, bricks, sticks, branches, and even her new compost bin that the kids just bought her. This time, instead of putting it all back on her property, we put it all in a big pile on ours. We'll see what happens now. Bill plans to mow today and that ALWAYS sets her off in a rage.
I did a little bit of sewing while we were gone. I just tossed all my scraps into the trailer and my Gypsy Wife pattern book. I made 5 blocks so far. Got 3 more cut out and put in baggies. Strange instructions, but since they were written by a designer in New Zealand, perhaps they aren't strange instructions there. But a good way to use up all those little pieces I can't stand to throw out!
So, has everyone been good while I was gone, following the rules?? I do check, you know . . . IRISH is in Florida, CHICKIE is caring for Doyle and doing yoga. TINA's baby chicks have moved and she's been painting on their new coop and her dad hurt his ankle. BECCA is making Raggedy dolls and her DH has a sore hand. BECKY has been enjoying the last performances of Brytt before graduation. JANA is enjoying little Lila, LINDA's DH's man cave is about finished, and PAM is having problems with her eyes and has an illustrious past as an actress! Gosh! Did I miss anybody?? It's like trying to name the Seven Dwarfs!
I think tonite's supper might be mini-meatloaves with baked potatoes and a veggie yet to be named. We ate up the last of our romaine while camping, just in time to come home and see a news report to not eat the romaine!! It's making people sick. Hmmmmm..... This might explain a few problems I had while we were camping. We had salad every single night.
got to run. Have to hit the shower
Scottie has a hair appointment today. Boy, does he need it. He's a dirty dog! And I have a luncheon to go to with former co-workers. Sort of a small birthday club. we get together twice a year.
I missed you all! Now, what's for supper!
