SUPPER CLUB - Wed, March 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Mar 28, 2018 4:26 am

Good morning!

We have a pretty morning here with singing birds and no wind! Chilly, but I'm inside so not a problem for me - yet. Yesterday we ended up taking an un-planned 70-mile drive south to do some wine-tasting. Not much since it was also a 70-mile drive back! but we had lunch and fun. Today is a hang around camp day, we think. I might get out my sewing machine and tackle a few R/W/B stars for Mary Q's April Lotto.

Last night about 3:00 am, a pack of coyotes came close to the campground and set up quite a howl. But it was nothing compared to what we had going on inside with Scottie racing up and down the length of the trailer, letting everyone know what he thought of coyotes! the good news is, he gave the owl a night off! lol!

Albert e-mailed me yesterday. He had a herd of about 30 elk grazing in his field. Not unusual for where he lives. He was hoping they didn't come up into his yard as they do a lot of damage. But he enjoyed the sight, just the same.

BECCA - your weather sounds almost identical to ours! We did warm to 60* yesterday but with the wind chill, it came down sharply! Oh, I hope your DS stays close to you and doesn't sell. Unless he's moving even closer! When we painted in January we also found a picture that we'd stored away, re-liked it, and re-hung it. A desert sunset. This is why I'm not quick to get rid of things - I just rotate. I loved your advice to IRISH. So spot on. Though I get why she feels guilty, unfounded or not, and I believe she should go on this trip anyway.

BECKY - you really have an assortment of diets to accommodate, don't you! You must be an awesome cook!

JANA - we have a friend here, Tex (yes, he's originally from Texas), who had a badly torn rotator cuff. The doctor said he needed surgery. Tex is kind of ornery and stubborn and refused. His wife, Annette, does energy work so with that, daily massage, and using healing essential oils (she is a distributor for Young Living which is in Utah a bit south of you) in 6 weeks, the doctor said Tex's shoulder was healed as much as he could have done it with surgery. Just saying - there are possible alterntives to surgery if/when Michael's doctor ever brings it up. (PT being one of them and it sounds like it's working for Michael. Plus it's covered by insurance.) Yay for Kate and Lila!!

Today should be warmer so I am HOPING for a campfire and grilling burgers or chicken outside tonite. ahh . . . Bill just declared burgers, so that's our supper. Not sure what sides will be, but we've got the main event nailed down.

What's the plan at your house?

Good morning!

Mary - continue to enjoy your trip! Our friend, neighbor, and the new Stake President is a executive for the Young Living corporation. The company sends him all over the world. Surgery was never in the cards - PT and a shot of cortisone. But lifting, hammering and electrical wiring was not! That is all done, and now Michael is antzy to do more than he should.

Dinner - still soup weather, so will break out my taco soup.

No baby yet.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning! I guess I never made it here yesterday, although I did find dinner makin’s for both of us. I made spaghetti red Monday after all the talk about chili, so I had leftovers last night. It was cold and raining all day yesterday.

Well, I can certainly understand about the owls and coyotes, Mary. Be glad you don’t have three Hooligans running in and out—barking, howling, and creating a general ruckus.

Mary—so glad to hear your DB is doing so well and he’s working hard at recovering his strength… and that you SIL stepped up and cooked! Oh, that’s heart-breaking about your nephew. Yes, we can have special favorites of nieces and nephews.

Irish—go for your trip! It’s part of your recovery process. You need your friends. My sister took me to San Francisco the year after DH passed so I wouldn’t be home on the anniversary. It was a wonderful trip in so many ways. I hope you have an awesome time in Florida!!!

My sister had her hip replacement surgery yesterday. By yesterday afternoon she was up sitting in a chair and already said it was easier getting around.

My DD is having numerous tests and scans… please, we covet your prayers.

Yesterday I finished the second of the comfort quilt tops and decided to take a break. I’m making a hexie quilt for my DD for a pick me up. I hope it doesn’t turn into a comfort quilt… I know she will love the fabrics—Tula Pink’s Tabby Road. I’m having fun just playing with the colors!

We have some new babies—so cute! Unfortunately, we lost another one. We are only at 75% survival—terrible!!! Worst in my history. Have no idea what the problem is, although some have been huge calves. It may be that the cows are getting older and unable to handle the bigger babies. It’s heartbreaking.

Jana—isn’t that something that Lila is hanging in there—literally! Best wishes to them!

Dinner tonight is at the corner for the “special” chicken fried steak/chicken. DS1 did repairs on DH’s car, and we’re taking them to dinner. It will be DH’s last hurrah as he prepares for his surgery. It will be my last hurrah, too, as we won’t be going out for months… So it goes. At least I won’t have to do a lot of cooking!!! There is THAT!!!

Bon appétit!

Good morning :)
We went to the DQ for supper last night, it was fun for a change of pace. I make chicken tortellini soup for lunch since I've been feeding Dad everyday for lunch for a few days.....I don't think he'll be here today because Frankie finished his transmission yesterday and they took Dad's van back home. It still needs 1 part on it but it's drivable and Dad just wanted it home so he can clean it out, the small part will be here Monday or Tuesday and it'll be all done and clean too.
We're supposed to be fairly nice today so I'll take the boys out back while I water my flowers in a little bit. Tomorrow is my last day of babysitting for this week and I get Monday off too.....I see yard work in my near future :)
I'm not sure about supper tonight, wish I had leftovers to heat up but no such luck. I do think tomorrow is BBQ brisket though :) potatoes salad and Cole slaw :)

Morning all:

Nice weather has returned. We will be steadily climbing to the 80's this week. I will be glad to get out of long sleeves. Can't be fooled into switching to summer clothes yet because we still can have sudden rain and snow until end of April. May is when the down quilt, socks and heavy PJ's get put away. But now at least we can open windows and get fresh air.

FINALLY the contractor has shown up and put down the foundation for DH's workshop/man cave in the backyard. Now it has to cure for a week, then he will be back to put up the framing. DH is like a little kid, going through brochures and making lists of all the things he wants to put in it. Only problem is, the mockingbird is nesting in the bush right next to where the workshop is going, so I hope they don't get scared away from all the work going on right next to them. Last year they lost their 3 babies to a cat when they were 1 week old.
Contractor is avoiding giving us a start date for the bathroom though.

The Featherweight maintenance class that my friend and I put on at our local quilt shop was a grand success. There were 6 people and the Featherweights ranged from 1937 to 1953. One lady had a 201 Singer and it was very similar to clean and oil. The owner of the shop asked us to come back and in June to do it again, because she had a waiting list already. It was so fun for me and it felt good to be teaching again.

Easter will be church and DH is deciding what special dinner he wants to make. I usually don't make the trip to San Diego for Easter. In May my sister is flying up to stay with me and we will drive to the coast to attend my cousin's celebration of life memorial. I will finally get to meet all the cousin siblings (there were 7) that I have never met. Then I will drive my sister back to SD and stay a week visiting friends and family. Then at the end of June DH and I drive up the coast of Calif, Ore to WA and visit my brother. I will have seen all the family for the year! So those are my plans for the summer.

DH made a very interesting dish last night. It was a rice bowl with Cuban black beans, chicken sausage, seasonings, onions, crock-pot pork pieces. It was delicious and there was enough for several days of lunches for me.

Happy Spring everyone. Blessings for the babies (animal or human), prayers for those in need, and hope you all have wonderful weather.

Hi all,
Prayers for you all, so many need them now.
Not a lot of news in the neighborhood....cold, windy and just plain yucky out there.
We have serenades by the owls and coyotes too, but since both our dogs are much older, they don't hear well....Ha...
I don't know how good a cook I am, Mary, but seems like it is a short order kitchen now days. We are trying for tacos tonight, but JR nor Ericka will not be able to eat them...so, I guess we will see what they all want when I get there. Sure do hate this way of cooking. I am more of a planner....LOL...
You all have a great night...Becky
