Top of the mornin' to ye all!

So who here is Irish? Keyboards in the air! I certainly am - my grandfather was born in Galway, Ireland. He came over through Ellis Island when he was 6 yrs old. He died 17 years before I was born. I wish I could have heard him speak. I bet he had an Irish lilt. I do believe he had red hair, like his mama (and his granddaughter! ;o).

Yesterday was a visit to Albert. He seems to be in a holding pattern. No food equals no energy and no fuel to heal. He is bloated and having too much gas, so they keep him on ice chips. His output is less than minimal. My chiropractor, who also has a degree in digestive studies and has been following Al's 'adventure', says sugar causes gas. Yeast causes gas. Sugar and yeast together cause lots of gas and bloating. (think fermentation) Al is getting 5% dextrose in his IV's, they gave him jello (aka flavored sugar), and his tongue is coated white which could be thrush, a yeast infection. So it's possible doctors orders are CAUSING the problem. I'm going to talk with my nephew this morning. He is there at the hospital with his parents now.

Today is Costco, haircut if I my hairdresser is working today, laundry, sewing, and then we have an impromptu invitation to friends for dinner tonite. Our social life has really picked up since my sis has been here. Everyone wants to see her! Which is ironic because she is so not a social person! lol!!

CHICKIE - you had a great day out with your DD, Chinese, Mom, and the H's! I sure hope they find your Dd's problem soon before they move on to more serious possibilities. A new baby on the farm! Yay!!

BECCA - Sounds like you found a great place to 'shop' for your wedding outfit! Describe please. Style? cut? fabric? COLOR? You know I always want the details!

JANA - I hope you've seen the last of your snow! Daffodils are in full bloom here! What a great idea - rent the bulls! I know they are rented for, say a week, or an afternoon . . . but a year? Interesting concept.

TINA - are things starting to settle down at your house yet? We miss you! Is Dad all snug in his home now? What's the update on your sister? Is she still in town?

IRISH - I have Foxy-cat guarding your plate at the table. But then I have to guard Foxy as he tends to take naps in dishes, baskets, and trays if he can fit his ever-expanding self into them.

LINDA - I bet your yard is going to be beautiful in a few weeks. and so begins the work! But such nice work! what are the plans for the man-cave?

BECKY - with your crowd I'm sure something interesting is happening at your house tonite! How is JR's tooth situation?

Tonite's supper is going to be corned beef and cabbage at our friends. It's not my thing, Irish or not, but I can deal with it once a year. I'm thinking of making Irish Soda Bread to take (colored green, of course). I'm also assigned green salad. My sis wants to make deviled eggs so I boiled them this morning. I wonder if she'll want to use green food coloring . . . Our McDonough heritage always comes through for St. Pat's Day!!

Hello everyone,it’s cloudy but Mr Sun keeps trying to come out & stay.

Maryz I have some Irish which I was surprised.But no green here today.Never Tried corn beef but don’t think I would like it.
Sure sorry about Albert isn’t doing well but not surprised.That was a lot for a body to take.Prayers he can make a strong come back.
On the suit you asked one who isn’t up on the latest styles & lingo.Its a light burgundy color jacket & the skirt is multi color dark bronze.burgundy,& light tan .Its a small flower wth leaves in a mod design running thru skirt.Poor description.But it’s nice & looks good on me.I also have a blue one I can wear too.DD liked them both.Shes my critique.

Chickie Those babies come to a good Home.And your Mom has a great DD.All in your life are blessed.Sure Praying for DD.I know what we went thru last Summer for 2 months when we thought I had cancer.

Good morning ladies.
Laundry is in full swing here, had to get up rather early, Brytt had to be at the school at 6:45, and JR is off and running today to help a friend move, so am hoping for a rather quiet day. DD went to work, not sure what is up with that, unusual for her to work on Saturdays, unless something is going on....Seems like it has been a very busy week, but I have plenty to do today, so I best get at it.
I think we will have fried cabbage of some sort, not sure what with it. JR would like some chili so that he can have leftovers in his lunch next week, and Brytt said that worked for her, she can have chili dogs when she gets home! Not sure the others will agree, but there is always something here for the ones that don't like anything! Ha.....Have a great day....Becky

No Irish in this family - Scottish, with a Irish last name.

Kate is hanging in there. Working now on 36 weeks. Kate is neat the last of the shots to prevent early labor. We think that after the last one wears off, we will get baby girl very quickly. So as per usual, any day! LOL Lila will fool us and hang in there and be late!

Dinner is corned beef, green beans, and potatoes. We all love corned beef in this family. I have learned that it freezes well too, before it is cooked. I had to teach my DIL's how to cook it. Both of their families only ever had it from a can - uggh - horrible! They now know how and love it too.

Sewing for me - need to hem one dress and take in another for a friend. She saw my skinnies and fell in love with them. She is ordering some for herself. Her daughter was one of my girls I taught to quilt.

Happy St Pat's Day to you all! Rod has corned beef cooking in the crock pot. Will add cabbage and small new red potatoes later so don't get too mushy. YUMMY stuff, irish or not. If anyone has ever had a ruben, they have eaten corned beef.

And we do have some Irish in both of us. Redheads on both sides of the family and it continues in some of the grandkids too. Our PHX guy, 10 yo, has awesome, now darker, red hair but everyone loves it.
Girls all chase him and have since daycare. LOL

He also has my mom's ice blue eyes. Handsome little dude but then I am a little partial to redheads. My DH did have red hair, turned brown as older, and now what is left, is silvery grey mostly. My bro has red hair and so does one of our DDs.

Mary, thanks for all the menu ideas each day. Prayers continue for Al and all in your family. I was told NOT to drink out of a straw after one of my surgeries, causes more gas. they were right and it does help the gas problem. Sorry he is having a little setback. God bless him and all of you too for being there for him.

Jana, happy to read Kate is still going. All my kids were preemies, healthy but tiny and early. Just had to grow some before we could take them home. God bless all of you as you wait for the baby's arrival. Prayers continue for all of your family. Always enjoy the latest things around your house, especially dear little Ethan. What a delight.

Becky, love to read about all of your family doings. Sounds like my house when all 4 of mine were still home. You are so busy but God bless you for hanging in there and dealing with it all. Where abouts do you live in MO? I am in KCMO right next to Independence border.

Becca, your suit sounds so pretty. I don't think suits ever really go out of style that much. How is DH? Give him a big hug from me. Life is hard some days and I am dealing with some of that in the future and it is coming sooner than I thought. Rod has good days and bad days and I want to run away some times. But love and devotion, and God get me thru the care giving end of our marriages. God bless you both in all you are going thru.

Happy St. Paddy's Day from a semi dreary, semi cloudy SW. Pa....Yep, it's me! I thought today would be a good day to find my way back to the table and a big thank you to Foxy Cat for keeping my seat warm.....

BUT a huge THANK YOU to all of you for the cards, prayers, good thoughts and of course my special comfort quilt over the last couple of weeks..You have no idea how much this all meant to me..I am still in awe over the quilt and when I look at the stack of cards, I need the tissues....I am so blessed to be able to call you all special friends, will never know how I got so lucky.....

It's been a rough time, no doubt about it and makes you wonder how you'll manage to go on...It's not that it wasn't expected but I still needed another 63 years before I'd be ready to let him go...Even though I had those 9 months alone, this is different and it's hard...The kids have all gone back home and hopefully on with their lives but we are in touch almost every day...

Sorry this is so long but...The day before Jim passed, Kathy flew in and was sitting with him that evening while I ran home to get a change of clothes..She said, they had their "talk" and she even sang the Notre Dame fight song and he held her hand and opened his eyes a little...During that last night, I pulled up the rocking chair and we talked, most of the night and he knew I was there...At one point, he even moved his mouth like he was telling me something...But, I told him, it was OK, I'd be fine, Chris was waiting and how much I loved him and he smiled and opened his eyes....Just knowing he heard me is something I'll never forget...When the Hospice nurse checked him about 6:50, she said, his breathing was slowing and at 7:05, he left me, while I was holding his hand....It was so peaceful and he looked so good, I knew he was OK.......His funeral was special, even the priest remarked about Jim's love for ND...He had the bagpipes and also was buried with full Military Honors...For a quiet guy, he certainly deserved it.....He was my special guy, I'll miss him forever.....

Once again, thank you all for being with me and helping me during this terrible time......Love you all.......
