Exodus 23:20-30
The Power of Little by Little

Have you ever asked God to do something major in your life, and then experienced disappointment when He appeared to be working little by little rather than all at once?

There are no simple answers, but this passage provides an important clue about the nature of God's activity on our behalf: He is going by His timetable, not ours, and His will for us is determined by what is ultimately best for us. Scripture tells us that "But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." (2 Peter 3:8-9)

Our loving heavenly Father is working for our eternal good, but He is accomplishing His purpose in our lives in His own perfect way and in His own time. God knows that these little steps are better for us now. He doesn't want us to be overtaken by the things that could happen if we experience victory too quickly.

Hugs and prayers
Izzy
