SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Feb 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Feb 25, 2018 2:51 am

Good morning!

We have wind and hard rain here. Nasty weather! and as soon as it's light, I have to go across the road to the neighbor's and do dog-duty, aka, CHICKIE and the Hooligans! (sounds like a rock band, doesn't it!)

We have My son and DIL, Mike & Emily, coming for a family breakfast this morning as well as my daughter's two boys. My DD and SIL won't make it as he had hernia surgery only a few days ago. After that we have no plans except to mail swap blocks. We'll probably watch the last of the Olympics and veg the day away.

BECCA - thank you for the prayers for Al and Jeff. They sure need them! I, too, wish my SIL could be more supportive. But she just can't. A far cry from my other SIL who never left Jim's side. How is your hubby doing today?

BECKY - Sounds like your hubby is getting along pretty well without many teeth! When will he get his new ones? Happy Birthday to your DGS! Our oldest DGS, Drew, was 24 last October. His brother is almost 21. That's all the grands we have. Which is a bummer because many years ago I cross stitched 3 Christmas stockings for future grands, each taking about 18 months to do. and here they sit. Now I'm saving them for the boys' wives - someday.

JANA - prepare yourself - we're sending another storm your way, just as soon as we finish with it ourselves! Sorry. Your baby quilt sounds so pretty! Stu is 21??? Are you sure?? Wasn't he just 12??? Maybe you have the numbers reversed . . .

IRISH - my heart is with you as you travel the next few days. They are rough ones. No sugar coating that. But you WILL come through them. I will text you later today.

CHICKIE - have the Cowligans come back at all to snuggle Pink Mama?

TINA - what's going on in your world this weekend?

LINDA - so? Will you get to go camping? We have friends who are camping outside Yosemite this week. They are sending wonderful pictures. I accidentally typed Yellowstone at first instead of Yosemite. But have you gone to Yellowstone? That park and Alaska are my two favorite places that we've ever traveled to. We made rezzies, camped inside the park for a week, and took a day trip out every other day to see the wonderful sights in Yellowstone. and every other day we had a lounge-in-camp day. One of our most relaxing trips ever.

Well, I made a gosh darn good supper last night with my Hawaiian pork roast. And my nephew and wife never showed up. So we have plenty of leftovers today. Supper is going to be BBQ'd pork sandwiches and a big salad with blackberry pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. I have to say, my DBIL is fun to cook for. He loves EVERYTHING I make!

What's in the making at your house for tonite?

Oh, Mary, your dinner sounds awesome. It's busy at your house with all the company. Hope you continue to enjoy each other. Prayers lifted for our pal Irish. Keep your faith and lean on your family .
Thinking if all of you.
I have to peek in my freezer and think about our dinner. Maybe some boneless pork chops. Maybe. Will decide later after church. Have a great day, all of you.

Good morning ladies,
Just a quick note, still got lots to do today. DGS is coming for dinner tonight, so I think we will have oven fried chicken, his favorite, mashed potatoes, green beans, aspargus and hot rolls. He d0esn't care much for cake, good grief, whose kid is he???? Our dessert will be a large chocolate chip cookie, still to be decorated, apple pie and ice cream. guess that will do it.
JR is doing so well, it is surprising. He has always been a whiner when he is sick or not feeling well. Thankfully, it isn't real often. His teeth will be in his mouth on March 12th I believe. He has to go back in on Tuesday. He has a shard not coming out. It is rather large, and they said they may have to pull it out and stick another stitch in before his teeth go in. In the meantime, he is getting really good at "gumming" food, so his choices are a lot broader this last week. That could be bad, was hoping this may help him lose a little weight, but as long as he is ok, I am happy.
Well, I have to run to town for ice cream, can't believe I forgot that, or the cash to go into the birthday card. Good grief, it was even on my list! Have a great day ..... Becky

Morning everyone:

Still cold and crisp. Lots of snow in the mountains from this latest cold snap. Rain possible all next week. Finally we are getting some winter since summer lasted until February! So, since DH is a mountain camper, no camping early like we thought. That's OK, there are other things to do. Hopefully the contractor will show up some time in March to do our last bathroom reno and build DH his workshop.

We went to Lowe's yesterday and I finally bought DH a new bar-b-que that was promised to him for his birthday last June. He kept saying no, he could resurrect the old one. But when he finally got too it he discovered the old one was just too broken down to fix. So he is happily putting the thing together today after church. We also hit Costco and bought the Ring door chime camera and flood light camera for the backyard. Now we should be REALLY safe.

Two of my best friends have lost their younger brothers to prostate CA this year and now my cousin just had surgery for CA of the prostate. All these men were in their mid 60's. So ladies, have your man be sure to get that prostate checked!

Things seem busy, but stable for the you all and I hope the good times continue. Enjoy every moment! Prayers for those in need.

DH has pork ribs in the crockpot covered with a new recipe of spices for tonight's dinner. We will see how it turns out. Last night we had C**m cowder, fresh c**b with melted butter, salad and sourdough bread. Yum, yum!

Good morning! We have SUN!!! It’s beautiful! The frost was thick this morning, and I had to scrape my windows to drive over to take care of Choc and Maggie. I hope to maybe walk over in a little bit, but it may be way too muddy. Of course, I have rubber boots.

Yesterday afternoon the cowligans came up for feed. Pocket Lint was in her pen, but I couldn’t get Annie and Blondie to go in, so I took them out into the yard. As I was trying to get them back into the pasture, I had a big flake of alfalfa for bribery, and they were following. Well… all of a sudden, I found myself on the ground on all fours and a few more points of contact. Somehow Annie had enthusiastically went for the alfalfa and pushed me and accidentally stepped on the edge of my boot and got me all tangled up. Fortunately, she didn’t step on me, but I sure got muddy and had to totally change clothes also had to bring out the bandaids after cleaning gravel out of the heel of my left hand—not my sewing arm! My barn coat is fully washable and is now in the dryer. Today I’m nursing a bad shoulder and hoping I didn’t do permanent damage. I’m such a klutz!!! If I had a super hero power… Super Klutz!!!

So, yes, Mary—the Cowligans come back frequently and snuggle!!! Sometimes the snuggles are pretty rambunctious!

Mary—your dinner peeps sound so much like around here. I try to find out who all is coming, but it doesn’t always work. Enjoy your leftovers!!!

Mom and I had Chinese soups yesterday. I let her choose what she would like, then I go fetch. We used to go to Chinatown and eat all the time when we lived in San Francisco. It’s fun to remember.

Linda—you were colder than here! I was surprised. I’m glad to hear your DH is settling into retirement. It takes awhile for some men—especially those who have been in charge for so long. Oh, did your last night’s dinner ever sound fabulous!!!

Becca—so glad your DH is doing well and not complaining too much! It’s amazing what you can eat when you are hungry. I’m glad someone else can check things off a list and still miss half of it!

Becca—sorry for the rain. Enjoy a peaceful day.

Vel—Have a super day!

Tina—you, too!!! Rest, if you can!

Irish—sending you love and hugs… I agree with Mary—it’s not an easy road for the next few days, weeks, months… but, it does get easier and the pain lessens as your happy memories beat it down.

Toight… soup for me, steak for DH. We had fajitas last night, and they were delicious. I think I’ll be lazy tonight and make easy.

Bon appétit!
