My Update....

Post by Irishgram » Fri Feb 23, 2018 10:49 am

Sadly, my message is to tell you all my Jim passed away this morning a little after 7:00...On Wed. the Hospice nurse told me, it would be within the next few days and I really had thought about bringing him home until they showed me their Serenity Hall at the Memory Care Home...They had 2 room with bath, 1 for the patient and a bed for a family member and the other room was a sitting room...So, Jim was moved there on Wed. and it was the perfect place..The Hospice nurse came every morning, a social worker sat with me and every hour, the in house nurses or aids would come to move him, change him or just make sure he was comfortable...These people were unbelievable..Kathy flew in on Thursday and he knew she was there...Different times he'd open his eyes, I think just to see if I was still there, lol...Thursday evening he seemed to drop into a deep sleep, even snored most of the night and this morning, he was starting to "go off"...Just after the Hospice nurse checked him, she thought he was having another "off" but that was it....I sat at his bed and held his hand all night and we had a "talk"...Told him it was OK, kept telling him how much we all loved him and Chris was waiting for him...I was just in awe at how peaceful he left and he looked extra good.....
We finished up the arrangements, viewing Monday and then funeral Mass on Tuesday with full military and now Kathy is working on getting a bag piper....I don't think it's really hit me yet because we have been busy but I'm sure it's coming....But, I just have to remember, he's at peace, never to hurt again......Rest In Peace, my love.....

Irish, I am so very sorry that you have lost your best friend in life, but it was good that you could be there with him in such a calm and peaceful setting. You have a lifetime of memories and love tucked away in your heart.

May God bring you comfort and peace now that your dear Jim is no longer hurting. May you be surrounded with angels of support as you go thru the days ahead.

This had to be one of the hardest msgs you ever had to write, but thank you for sharing both your love and your grief with us. Kathy being there will be a great comfort to you. Hope they can get a bag pipe for the services. A military service is so touching and meaningful and Jim is so deserving.

My deepest sympathy and hugs and prayers for comfort for you and all of your family today and all your days ahead. Share your grief with others but also share your happy memories of Jim and the life you shared. Share the stories and pass them along to the little ones so they will know Jim too.

God bless you all. It is hard to type thru tears. I have read so much about Jim, I feel as tho I know him personally. Thank you for sharing him with us. He was a very dear man. Hugs, Shirley Mae

IRISH, I'm saddened to read your news and my heart aches for yours. But how wonderful to have had Jim by your side for so many decades. You built a very special life together, created a loving home and family. I hope all these memories will give you strength to get through this loss, and hold you up in the days to come. Much love to you, my sweet friend!
