Good morning!

We're set to have a rockin' and rollin' day here - lots of wind - up to 45 mph - and unending rain. I don't think there's any place I need to go except out to the trailer to get my countertop polish. Days like this make me worry about that big tree leaning over our house, but my sewing room is at the other end of the house. I'll only be maimed and probably not completely killed if the tree comes down. Gads! Neighbors!!! You would think 2-1/2 acres would be enough space to be free of irritating neighbors.

I have my wall-hanging almost finished. Yay! I even have it halfway stitched down. I'll finish that today and hopefully hang it, and then clean up my sewing room. I think I only have one more evening of stitching to do to finish my big counted cross-stitch, too! Two big projects in one day! Though, I still will need to sew tiny iridescent seed beads all over the cross-stitch to simulate snowflakes falling.

My sis had her breast lumps removed yesterday and she said all went well. Though she was still numb from the local they gave her. We'll see what she has to say today! If all is well, she has decided they want to leave today for our house - 1,400 miles - and they should arrive here Monday afternoon. She keeps changing the dates on me as weather forecasts come in so I have to be on my toes to be ready. JANA - they will probably be rolling through SLC late today or early tomorrow. If you see a little black car - that's my sis! Wave!

VELDA - nice to see you! How was the steak?

BECKY - glad JR is coping with (without?) his teeth. I love Cream of Wheat, though we usually eat oatmeal here. When does your DD return from her conference?

JANA - sorry your metal wall got punted. But on to Plan B. Maybe you could find a wallpaper that looks like your metal . . They have wallpaper that looks like wood, so why not? Or at least a border . .

IRISH - What's the egg report today? And how are you feeling?? And did Scout get his hamburger??? (our tractor is named Scout, too) Jim actually got up in the middle of the night to give Simba his chicken?? lol! My kind of guy! I knew I liked him!! My son's cats were waking him up at 0200 for a snack, too. He'd lock them out of the bedroom and they'd scratch and howl at the door until he got up and gave them a spoon of wet food. He finally found an automatic canned food dispenser and taught the cats how to feed themselves. lol!! We saw the news and pictures of the tornado damage in Uniontown. Unbelievable.

BECCA - you've really been having some excitement at your house! How many houses are on your road? Is it just a small county road or a dead end that serves a limited number of homes? Glad you have your power back and hope your road is fixed soon.

As for supper, I'm thinking maybe a scramble. I have some kielbasa, eggs, potatoes, green pepper, and onions. And we'll have avocado and tomatoes on the side. Yum!

What's for Saturday Night Supper at your house?

Mary, your meal for tonight sounds yummy! Our steak was great! So big! Brought over half home for leftovers. Baked potato was so huge, DH and I split one, and brought the other home also for leftovers. Well, you all know what we will be eating tonight. I think will make fried taters with that monster baked potato. LOL
Hugs
Vel

Morning everyone:

Sorry I have been MIA this week. Had to take the computer to the "hospital" to get a new hard drive. I knew the old one was going out so I was able to do a full backup so I can get back all my important stuff. The tech said it was a good thing I did all that because the HD was just about to crash. Can't lose all my quilting stuff!! Now I just have to reinstall my software programs and put the backups back. Tedious.

For 25 years we have been wanting to go to the big Farm/Ag show about an hour away from us. But it has always been during the week when we worked. It is the largest Ag show in the world and huge. So we went on Thursday. Boy, oh boy. So many people, so many HUGE machines. After 2 hours of just walking we were so tired. Very few places to sit down. Looking at the types of people from all over the world was just as interesting. This is a pic of me next to the tallest tire we could find.

The valley is now all shades of pink and white. The weather is about 2 weeks ahead of schedule but now there are worrisome changes. We are going to be very cold and frosty next week...no rain, but the cold will injure the blossoms and keep the bees from flying. So the fruit crop may not be good this year.

I am hosting the TLQ (Tender Loving Quilters) group on Monday so I have to start cleaning house this weekend. We will use the sun room
for the first time. The 3 back cushions of our new couch in the family room have always been too squishy. So I took them into the upholstery guy in town and asked him to firm them up. Now that he has, they won't fit back into the couch. Too big. So back they go to be cut down. Can't have my quilting girls sitting on a couch with no back cushions. The sun room heats up nicely by just having the back door and bedroom french doors open...lets the heat go in, so we should be comfortable there. Lots of light too.

Have to catch up with you all again. Hope all sickness is past and everyone is busy...as usual. DH is making BBQ spare ribs in the crock pot for tonight.

Prayers for all those in need.

Good afternoon!

Mary - WOW! That wallhanging is stupendous!

Vel - I love when I get more meals from my people bags when we eat out. When I lived in Idaho, the little potatoes that we all get in the bags, the locals there called seedlings! They wanted the BIG ones to eat! LOL

Becca - tacos sound really good - might happen here - or maybe the car will stop on the way home and get some.

Linda - I love tractors! My Daniel in California is a Case boy - he drives the big rice harvesting tractors. On Saturdays around here as the day gets started, we watch the tractors being auctioned - DH would love to have one - but, alas, the model trains take precedent! Thank goodness, they are smaller and easier to store! LOL

Tonight is the BD party for Gracie and Baden - so dinner will be late for us, after the party. I got the dress wrapped in princess paper and found trucks and tractor paper for Baden's gift. A Fisher Price toy that is as tall as he is and has cars that tumble down from the top - just what a two year old little boy will love!

Now to get the Batt Cave straightened up and then start Lila's baby quilt. Sarah and I found all the fabric, yellow, gray and teal - they work together wonderfully. It is another Sarah designed pattern, based off of one of my original patterns I did for Matt and Crenda's wedding quilt. the pattern will go together quickly and then she will do the LA'ing of the quilt. No binding, just sewn together pillowcase style and edged with eyelet ruffle lace and beaded ribbon trim. Still need to by all that ruffles - but that will wait until I have the top done so we know the exact size.

Time is slipping away - the cave isn't cleaning itself - rats! LOL

Enjoy
Jana

Forgot - found wallpaper that looks just like the corregated tin I wanted, so I ordered it. I will teach Sarah how to hang wallpaper - that is one thing I can do that she hasn't yet learned! It will be here in about a week. So all that is needed is for Michael to get his stuff done in there and get out of my way to decorate that room!
