Genesis 35

Teh Power of Praise

In this passage, Jacob was deliberately taking the time to slow down, stop and build an altar to the Lord--not to ask for something--but to remember what God had done for him. And this kind of praise has power in it. When we praise God, He renews our strength and reminds us of the truth about who HE is and what He wants to do in our lives. When we remember how He has been faithful in the past, it gives us confidence that we can put our trust in Him for our future. When you look back and see His hand guiding your life up to this point it gives you faith to believe that even though the future is unclear, you can trust that He will not Leave you.

It is so important to take time to reflect upon what God has done in your life and how He has been faithful to you. Then you will not fear the future, but anticipate it with knowledge that God will be with you wherever you go.

Hugs and prayers
Izzy

Well said Izzy, how easy it is to forget what God has done. I am working on slowing down, and giving more to the Lord. Life is so busy I have realized lately that I am trying to do so much on my own and forgetting to ask for God's help. I try to live my the statement that "if God brings you to it, He will bring you through it".

Thanks for the reminder! Just the one I needed to hear this morning. Must be a God somewhere!

In my class that we attend every Thursday night, the teacher taught us how to study our scriptures. When we sit down and read, look for the principle that is in the scripture. It usually is there by a "if" and " then". Such as, if you do this, then you will receive that. This is a great way to see all the principles in the gospel that will enable us to live a life, following the teachings of the Lord. It takes practice, but soon you will see all the truths in the scriptures.

Thanks you, Izzy and the other in put. Wow, sometimes I am so busy going down my prayer list for this one and that one, and totally forget to say thank you.
Some events are obvious that God was so much present in it and through it all. Making time for reflection on praise is a MUST! Thank you, I will change my prayers to begin with thanks and praise.
