Good morning,
What a weekend! I gotta get a job! This retirement is killing me! But our project is almost done. Yesterday we went out "just to look" for a small credenza to place under the window in our 'new' room. We stopped at Costco and they had the purrfect thing - a 5-foot long kitchen island!. Bill's eyes were sparkling! It was like looking at Clark Griswold looking at his purrfect Christmas tree! We had to go home and get the truck to haul it. Then we had to unload it, bring it into the house on a handtruck, and unpackage it. What a chore. And some assembly required. Directions said to "flip it over". ha! It's 200#! Guess I won't be rearranging THAT bit of furniture too often! So that took the day. We sat down at 4pm finally to watch our recorded NFL Pro Bowl game. All that's left now is to hang three pictures (after I buy one new frame to replace the one that I broke). Also on today's schedule is cleaning the garage and bringing wood in from the woodshed with the tractor.
BECCA - sounds like you and your DH both had a nice weekend all the way around. I hope it happens again soon. How far away does your other son live?
CHICKIE - I think you need to get a job, too, so you can get a few days of rest! lol! Your days are always so busy. Filled to the brim with chores and animal love. How is your mom?
BECKY - oh wow! What a gift!! Such a problem you have - having to find a place to store it all! Maybe just back into the bins? you'll find a spot for it, I'm sure! Whatever you do with it, just playing with it will give you days of fun! You have a smart husband!
JANA - we all knew you'd do a great job on your talk, but glad for you that it's done! and even more glad you remembered your dress!! lol!
TINA - I bet you are enjoying just being in your house today, admiring all the fresh and clean!!
MY navy bean soup yesterday turned out quite tasty! I added a can of Rotel tomatoes which gave it just enough zip. There's still plenty left for tonite and I know Bill will be happy with that. He loves soups of almost any kind.
What's for supper at your house?

Good morning! Ha, ha! Mary, that’s what I keep saying… retirement is much harder than working in the office!!! I love the “island” for a credenza! I think you need a break from everything!
Mom was kind of quiet Saturday. Did I tell you she laid back down while I went to fetch lunch. I vacuumed and moved furniture around and did a thorough job for her.
Jana—if I remember correctly, that was Bennett Cerf who said “imagine your audience in their underwear, and if that doesn’t work go a step further…” Glad it went well!
Becca—hopefully they can find indoor activities to see at Disney World and still have a blast. I doubt the rain slows the children.
Becky—wow! It must have really been like Christmas for you!!! What a great DH!!!
Yesterday I did laundry and swept floors in addition to dog duty and cooking. Seemed like I was on my feet running as fast as I could all day. I was wiped out last night. We watched “Joy” that DH had taped. It was a good story. I wonder how much was totally true to her life. I think I need her mop!
Today I plan to work on my Christmas presents. I’m binding a table runner now, and I have two more left to make. Then… start next year’s or one of my other many projects waiting to be finished or lots more to start… Maybe I should concentrate on FINISHING something!
Dinner tonight… I think steak, potato and salad for DH and I’m going to make a pot of soup for me. It was a wind chill of 8 when I was feeding calves, and I can’t get warm now. If I had some soup made, I’d have it for breakfast! Maybe I’ll go put on some steel cut oats…
Bon appétit!

Good morning

Mary, wow that's a heavy piece of furniture! You do know we want pictures right? LOL
Becca, I'd love to go to Disney Land again! I'm a kid in an older body LOL
Our fajitas were yummy last night and have enough for leftovers for tonight. We had to take Dad's to him because he had a migraine and wasn't feeling like going anywhere, we gladly took it to him. Frankie is going now to help do stuff.

Good late morning from a party sunny but at least it's out there, sometimes....
Mary, my heavens, do you 2 ever stop???Wow, what a find...who would have thought, an island...But, as Tina said, we want pictures....When I read about the things you and Bill do it makes me think of all the goofy things Jim and I used to do and can't any longer..Just like getting a car, I don't want to make that decision without him...But, then I think, we've had a good life with lots and lots of good memories and that's what I have to hold close....Live goes on and we gotta go with the flow, right! But, for sure, we want to see pictures of the finished room.....
Chickie, I agree, you do need to get a job just for the rest....Hope your Mom is feeling better today and all is good at your house even if it's darn cold..Keep remembering, Spring is just around the corner....Also, hope you enjoyed your Subway the other day...I get the steak n cheese with banana peppers, oh so good!
Tina, I have a feeling, you don't complain if you have to deliver your Dad is dinner...What a good thing, having him close by and what a blessing to have Frankie there to help...He'll find he's busier than when he worked, lol...I can't get over you working on next year's Christmas already...You go girl! that's great....
Becca, I imagine being at Disney, even in the rain, is good...Nothing with deter those kids from enjoying every minute...I haven't been there for a few years and would love to go back...So many magical memories...Probably told you all about our 1st trip down, it was Jim, Terry, Kathy and I...We had stopped for the night before we got into Florida and just as we were crossing over the state line, Kathy yelled, "Stop the Car"...We were on a bridge, Jim pulled over and Kathy had put her bikini under clothes when she got dressed and she whipped off those clothes and jumped out of the car to get her picture taken at the "Welcome to Florida" sign...Big trucks were going by blowing their horns, not always you see this young chick in a bikini standing beside the sign...Thought they were getting an extra good welcome! After Jim got his heart calmed down, we went on our way and had a great time.... Miss those days also....
Becky, wow what a gift! AND what a thoughtful hubby, that's great! That would be like winning the lottery.....Enjoy every bit of it....
My sleepover with Scout was very nice...We're thinking Scout had been abused by whoever had him as a puppy or even by Terry's ex after Terry had moved out and poor Scout really didn't trust anyone but Terry and the boys...It took a lot of time and patience for Terry's new wife to even get him to let her pet him but now, she's Mom...And for him to feel comfortable staying with me is great..Anyone who even looks mean at an animal ranks with the lowest of the low in my book..The next time, in a couple of weeks, Scout will be staying for about a week, Terry and DW are going to Lake Placid....
Today might be a run around day...I have things to pick up at Kohl's and Walmart, return books to the Library and then visit with Jim....It's now been a few days since I've gotten a call about him falling, which is a good thing...But, it's so hard for him to understand that he just isn't strong enough to just stand up and walk...
Not sure what dinner will be....The kids brought KFC when they brought Scout the other night so I still have a small bowl of chili left...
You all have a great day........
Happy eating................

Morning everyone.
Looks like we will hit the low 60's for about 15 minutes every day this week. No rain forecast for some time. Still frosty in the am's.
We had a good time at the concert last night, even DH seemed to be enjoying it. We had dinner at our special Italian restaurant and he was even happier. But this morning he is not feeling well, lower backache, upset insides. That could mean nothing, kidney stone or onset of flu. It remains to be seen. Right now he is prepping split pea soup from a ham bone he found in the freezer. So that is a positive sign since he still wants to be around food.
This morning DH's office manager is dropping by to pick up some of our cast off lamps. We are updating the master bedroom in preparation for the master bath reno and have gotten new table lamps and a new bed cover set. We will catch up with her life since DH's retirement and we have a cash gift for her, thanking her for 25 years of her life in service to DH.
The rest of the week is quiet until Friday. We go to Fresno in the am, DH drops me off at the local guild quilt show and heads for Home Depot. He picks me up when I call and we go home. Then I pack up and go to a 1 1/2 day quilt retreat at 3:00. It is local so we come home at night. Actually it is a friend of mine's idea for her birthday every year. She rents the local quilt shop and invites her friends for a 1 1/2 day retreat, feeds us lunches and dinners and only asks that we buy our supplies from the shop. She is very generous and threatens us with eviction is we give her a gift for her birthday.
I have started on the quilt for my god daughter's graduation in 2019. It is full of little pieces but I am taking my time and most of my points are matching. It will be a fairly large one, but even DH says it is looking pretty. I have stopped it to work on the February lotto blocks. They are looking lovely too and using up my scrap fabric. I hope I win because I would like to make a quilt out of these blocks.
Hope the rest of the week is good for you all. MaryZ...you must be like Izzy and the energizer Bunny! Take care and prayers for those in need.
**Linda

Good afternoon ladies,
Yes, my gift was much appreciated, and it did feel like the lotto and Christmas all rolled into one. He is a pretty good guy, and DD & DGS are much appreciated too. So much there, I really don't have a clue what all I have yet, although, I did find a panel for one of those cloth books for baby, that you put the batting in and make it into a book. I will go ahead and do that up this weekend, to send to my new little Great Nephew. It is nursery rhymes.....
Mary, glad Scottie is better, and would also love to see a picture of your "new room" Mine is being planned.
Tina, those gifts are fresh Christmas gifts, you haven't given them yet, so you are ahead. Not cheating, for sure.
Becca, sure the kids will still love Disney, rain or not....
Chickie, hope your mom is feeling better. I take it she doesn't usually lay down while you go get lunch? And look at you, working on Christmas too....Although, I am still plugging away on those present quilts for my grands. I had sort of forgotten about them.....The blocks are over half done for all four of them, I should probably look where I stuck them.
Irish, your errands will keep you hopping. Hope you are doing good. Will be fun to have your granddog for a week. Wish I could send our home after a week....LOL
Rose, your dinner sounds good too. And I am sure Jana will be in with something good also.
We may have chili and chili cheese dogs tonight. Not really feeling like doing much, busy at work, and that is fast and easy. Add the hot dogs and kids will eat those. It is rather chili here.
