SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 24th
Good morning,
this will be short. gotta get back downstairs to Scott. He is one sick puppy! He spent the day in doggie hospital on IV's. XR's show something in intestines. Inflammation for sure, infection, and possible blockage. Vet let him come home last night with IV catheter in place and a cone on just to add to his misery. None of us had a good night. He can't keep anything down and is vomiting clear almost nothing. We'll need to take him back today, which was the plan if he wasnt' better by morning. We washed our painting drop cloth and covered the bedroom floor with them, which turns out was a very smart idea!
IRiSH - not again! Does Jim's bed have rails? But you have almost 70*?? Albert's "grand opening". haha!! I've got to remember that one!
BECCA - so sorry things are gradually worsening at your house. Prayers for you, too!
CHICKIE - We often walk Scottie on a leash in the back yard just for this reason. But we have 2-1/2 acres of woods and grass so he shouldn't have to live like a city dog. And sometimes it's just not convenient for us to put on shoes, coat, umbrella, flashlight, so he goes out on his own. He LOVES outside and when he's cooped up inside he whines. His coat is so thick he gets hot. We can't afford a 400-foot fence, so like our other neighbor suggested, we may be having to muzzle him when he's outside to keep him from 'snacking'.
VELDA - Except for tossing the garbage we wouldn't even know Vicki was there. she has been very quiet. Her kids bought her another phone (the fourth. she keeps breaking them because they are "toxic".) so she hasn't been over here asking us to make calls for her for a few months now.
BECKY - I saw news reports of Missouri's weather. UGH!! your poor sis! We would love for Vicki's family to be able to get her into a facility. But you can't force a person to do anything in WA state and she simply refuses to go. She refuses to go to a doctor, too. We have called cops, health department, Adult Protective Services (twice!). No one can do anything if she doesn't want them to. This situation isn't going to end well. Kids only come by sunday mornings to check on her.
JANA - So did you get to sew yesterday after your talk was polished? What are you working on? did you ever finish JN?
anyway, we're supposed to have two couples for turkey breast supper tonite. I think we're going to need to cancel that because of Scottie. it wouldn't be very appetizing for anybody. Maybe we'll do a restaurant dinner next week.
Gotta run! wishing you good eats!

Good morning! We have SUN, and it’s going to be in the 50s today! I can handle this winter weather. The pond is calm and looks like a mirror. You could stand on your head and the view would be the same!
Mary—poor Scottie! Hope that he gets whatever it is out of his system soon and no surgery is needed. It’s not right that he shouldn’t get to enjoy HIS acres! After all the coyote scares with Odie, I was putting on shoes and wearing my jammies out to walk him in the middle of the night—so not convenient! At least we have the big yard light and I didn’t have to carry a flashlight.
Becky—I sweep the floors, but it’s still a mess keeping up with them. I need a good day for washing and polishing but not if there is ANY precipitation in the forecast for a week! Your dinner last night sounded awesome!
Irish—so sorry there was so much drama with Jim and glad he checked out good after the fall. Too bad they can’t put alarms on the beds to let them know someone is trying to get up. I’m glad you had a good lunch! It’s good to get out with girlfriends! I always hate to hear another woman passed from ovarian or uterine cancer. I firmly believe parts should be removed when we’ve finished with them, but that’s just me. I really hope the storms blow out before they get to you! I don’t send lousy weather to anyone!!! Mother Nature really has a bee in her bonnet this year!
Becca—I hate wind in winter! In summer it’s annoying to see your hair trying to fly off your head and every day is a bad hair day, but winter winds are brutal to my being. We really lucked out on the last snow storms and only had the winds.
Mary—sorry to have your dinner plans maybe cancelled. Wishing Scottie all the best!!! Dinner here—not sure. It may be some leftover something or, it may be chicken fried steak or chicken at the corner… You know me, I’m always up for NOT cooking!
Bon appétit!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 24th
Good morning all:
Back from 1 1/2 weeks in San Diego. The weather was very warm in the beginning, short shirt sleeves, then it turned cold and rainy at the end. Good thing I had packed both. Stayed the first half with my elderly OCD 85 year old aunt. She had scheduled me for all her run around errands and medical studies, anything that needed driving. I could not anticipate or try to help out unless told explicitly instructed how to do it. So I spent a lot of time just waiting. Glad she is so independent at 85, but she is so hard to live with.
The second half of my visit was with my younger sister. She has recently moved into a "destination trailer" on her son's property. I now have a real pull out bed (couch) to sleep on instead of a lumpy, narrow couch. Plus, two cute little boys show up every day to ask if we can play with them (my grand nephews). We went to the movies and saw "The Darkest Hour", went up to Ontario to "The Road to California Quilt Show", and also to our favorite quilt shop. It was a much more fun time.
Now that I am home, lots of catch up to do. DH did a pretty good job of not messing up the house and the kitchen stove is actually pretty clean. However, my violets were limp so he didn't notice things needed watering. Yesterday I was able to get outside in the afternoon and finish cutting back the roses. Now I have to give them their first good feeding. And spray Neem oil for the critters that eat them during the year.
DH actually started a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle while I was gone. I gave it to him for Christmas to keep him busy but he was less than wowed and said he wasn't interested. Now he runs over to it during every commercial, after breakfast, lunch and dinner and any other time he walks by. He says he is addicted!
The quilt shop in town has asked me to help with teaching a class on caring for your Featherweight. Jan is one of my quilting buddies but she is "getting on" in age and is wanting to turn the classes over to me. So we have to figure out a date and I have to look at her lesson plans. I am excited to do it, as I have just finished restoring two more Featherweights and would like to share my knowledge.
DH says dinner tonight is chicken fried steak, yellow squash and tater tots.
Can't reply to you all because I haven't caught up with reading, but hope you are all well and prayers for those in need.

Good afternoon ladies.
Gosh Mary, hope Scottie doesn't have to have surgery. That is sure a dilemma. I don't think that they have that rule here. JR works for a elderly adult care property, and every once in a while, he says that the admin has to call the kids and they have to do something different, when they have behavioral issues.
My sisters live in eastern Nebraska, and they are still digging out. Better them than us, I think.
My floors always look bad Chickie. I am going to put in a wood floor in the family room and living room, maybe later this year, and something different than carpet in the dining room too. Between the kids and dogs, good grief! My oldest DGS came and shampooed the main room carpets for me in November, and before he probably got home, the dogs were let in, and mud all over before they were caught. Depressing. They sometimes act like they have no manners. Ha.
Becca, sounds like you are busy too. It has been many years since we have had a tea party. They used to be every week occurences. The girls loved them, and if the sweets were a good enough deal, even their darling brother would join us. He would do most anything for a cupcake or chocolate chip cookies. Tea, not so much. good times, for sure.
Our dinner tonight will be what I said yesterday, I think. DD forgot that all the kids had eye appointments after school, so she took them, and brought home pizza. Worked for me, JR and I had a salad with ours and everyone was happy.
Hope you all have a great evening....Becky

Hi everyone.
I'm sorry I haven't been around. I can't believe it's been days since I've been here.
Mary, I hope Scotty gets better, that's so scary.
Irish, I hope Jim is ok.
Becca, the tea party sounds great! I need to Dusty and vacuum in the worst way. ...I get up every morning with good intentions but. ....
Jana, Linda, Becky, Vel and anyone else I hope everything is going good.
Today was a busy day. .... somebody have the boys some extra energy from some place and I was exhausted by 1! I crashed when they took a nap.
Frankie and Dad have most of the ditches dug for the septic, water and propane lines. It earned up a little today and no wind so they got a lot done. Hopefully it can be finished up tomorrow.
I'll try to do better about not letting my days go by without stopping in.
Tina
Hugs to you all.

Good news!
The police here caught the suspect from Saturday's shelter in place. He was able to slip away on Saturday with help from family members that lived in the area. The police arrested them yesterday. The perp stole a truck and lead officers on a 10 mile high speed chase, in which one heroic officer was able to use the PIT manuver and caused the perp to crash.
This is a big worry now put to rest. The suspect made many threats to hurt and injure as many as he could. The schools and neighborhoods had every law enforcement and fire perrsonel out patrolling our areas.
