SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Jan 19th
Good morning!
How is everyone today? We've all had some real challenges lately. So I come here every morning, eager to read how you all are doing.
IRISH - I'm concerned about Jim, but I'm sure he is getting the care he needs. I pray YOU are doing OK and have more 'up' times than 'down'.
TINA - I know you are wearing yourself out trying to take care of your dad so, like Irish, YOU are the one I worry about.
BECCA - Your hubby also keeps you on your toes, physically and mentally and emotionally. Don't forget to take care of you!
JANA - you always put family first! And I don't know about the 'gray thing' that's popular today. But I have to admit, is IS pretty with yellow. Is new baby's name going to be Lila? Did I know that?
BECKY - your house is always hopping! I'm not sure if that keeps you young or is aging you more rapidly! lol!!
CHICKIE - Is Lint showing Phantom and Hornetta the treat ropes? I hope you are warming up soon. Before you know it, you will be 90* and fighting the chiggers and ticks while picking berries.
LINDA - did you come back from your trip yet? Did your DH get started on his mancave?
VELDA - haha! You made me laugh. you put Willie ON the couch and made him stay. Most people get their dogs OFF the couch and make them stay!
We got our room put back together yesterday and all the curtains & valances washed and most rehung. This morning will see the rest of them ironed and up before we leave at 9:30 to take Albert to Seattle. We are hoping this is the last appointment before his surgery. I doubt we'll be home before 6:30 so we have a friend coming to tend Scott mid-day.
So I made the Casablanca Chicken yesterday in the crockpot and it was really good! Bill really liked it, too. That recipe is a keeper. I can imagine tweaking it to suit the ingredients on hand, leaving out the potatoes and serving it over rice or pasta, swapping out veggies, and more. I think I'll make it if/when my siblings all gather and toss in a few red pepper flakes for extra zip. We have plenty of leftovers for tonite which is a good thing as we'll be late coming home.
What's the plan at your house?

Hello everyone, sunny & warming after a cold nite.We still have snow where sun doesn’t hit but our drive is clear but our rd out to other road is still ice & snow.Next wk will take care of that.
Maryz You hit it on the Head. Its Getting harder to try to deal with his losses of memory & his daily habits .He forgets what he’s trying to do & gets frustrated. And he thinks I’m the one that forgets.Dealing with mental issues is a real challenge.I put myself on the back burner, just my nature. But we muddle thru as IRISH says.
You & Bill sure get things done. And Prayers for a safe journey today.Feel for Albert ,his son & all his family.
Irish Thinking of you & hoping things are a bit brighter in your neck of the woods. And that Jim has settled down.Hoping for a sunny day for you.
Chickie I hope the babies got settled & things are calming on the Farm. You Have So Many duties with Mom Animals DH & others Dogs too.
Jana Your Household is always a busy place too.I too don’t care for grey for a baby color but it is popular. It does go with yellow.Sure your little garments will be adorable.
Tina Sure hope you can see an end to the moving & setting up soon.Your life is busy busy.
Becky You Too are a busy bee.And Lots going on at your place.
Velda I too got a laugh about Willie & the couch.lol Sounds like he is well trained.
I have leftover soup & will make my cornbread I never got made. Also May make DH a new recipe for brownies that DGSs family gave us the mix for Christmas.
Happy eating to all. Becca

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, Jan 19th
Good morning! I can’t remember if I was here yesterday or not. Today is only for a quick minute as well. I’ve been sweeping and cleaning floors after getting back from feeding calves. We are warmer today, and it’s wonderful! It was 21 this morning feeding! Pocket Lint comes and gets her bucket of feed, and I gave her some alfalfa hay which she liked. I’m going to start weaning Blondie and Annie from their milk bottles and let them eat feed. This will be interesting!
I’m fasting this morning for blood work. When DH returns from his coffee, we’ll go to town. I’ll get my blood work done, then we will have breakfast or lunch—depending on how late he returns or I have to wait in line and what is still being served. Lunch is always good for me! This is just my normal annual blood work—not for any reason other than getting my maintenance refills.
Lint hasn’t brought Phantom or Hornetta to the goodie pen. I think she’s keeping it for herself for now. They both have moms, although I’m pretty sure Hornetta has been weaned. Phantom was a late baby, so she may still check in with her mom.
Becca, Irish and Tina—You are all so busy and have such responsibilities. I feel like a slacker. Like Mary said, do take time to take care of yourselves! It’s easier said than done, I know. My late DH had brain tumors, and dealing with the mental issues of memory and personality were difficult. I can relate to the dementia with MIL when she was living with us. Every day was a new day with new challenges for everyone.
I have doggy duty today, and hopefully the hooligans and I can get in a walk to take care of Choc and Maggie later. I don’t have too much more left to finish the Valentine swap blocks.
Mary—I think the rice or pasta would be a great addition as well as the pepper flakes! I added some leftover brown rice to my veggie (mostly portabella mushrooms, carmelized onions and celery, some julienne carrots, with Oriental spices and seasonings) soup instead of the noodles, and I still have my tofu to make. The soup was delicious! I still have one bowl left for dinner tonight. DH will have some Gulf goodies and sides.
DH should be home, so I want to get this posted… Bon appétit!

Good early afternoon from a, thank to Becca, very sunny SW. PA...Now if I could just get her to whisper some winning lottery numbers in my ear, that would be great, lol....
Just wanted to check and thank everyone for their hugs and good thoughts....It's been an interesting ride, to say the least but we're not done with this journey, just a little detour....
Jim is still in the hospital but I'm thinking he might be transferred today...I've decided along with the family, enough is enough and why put him through more tests if it's not going to "put him back together" so to speak....They tried to do the MRI but he just wouldn't let them and it's just not right...I tried to help him eat and he maybe had 3 bites of pudding...Don't want to step on the doctor's toes but I know Jim would not want all this fuss as he would call it...As soon as he gets back at the Memory Care, Hospice will be there to talk with me and we go from there....I know, many feel Hospice is the end of the line but it isn't and hopefully more will understand....I haven't told Kathy that her Dad has been in the hospital but she does know about Hospice coming in and is on board with that...She and DH left on Wed. for a mini vacation and I thought, why spoil it....
So, my plans today, make the house look presentable (never know, the cats might get company while I'm away) and then I'm going to gather up my sitting stuff and go to the hospital, unless they call and tell me he's been transferred...Does make for a long day but when you think about it, but what else do I have to do and what would be more important.......Everyone who has helped take care of Jim has been wonderful, right down to the cleaning lady who stops at his door and asks how he's doing and really gives good hugs....
So again, thank you all so much....I might not post but I try to read and do love to hear what you all are doing.....
Hey, we have sun, gonna be a good day............
You all have a great day...........

Good afternoon. I am reading all the posts and wish I could hug you all.
Irish, Becca, Tina, you all need to make sure you take a little time for your own self. Prayers for each one.
Chickie, hope your favorite animals are comfy now in your care.
Yes, Mary, it may seem funny to make him stay ON the sofa, instead if OFF, but this works really well in our small space.
Sounds like the spring cleaning and decorating is coming along great.
Tonight is left overs and that's great because we have movie night at the clubhouse. Suppose to be a comedy tonight. Should be fun.
Working on my quilt. To give my hand a rest, I am doing some machine quilting today. My machine has a quilt stitch that mimics hand stitching. This is blending well with the hand stitches I have done so far. Luckily this is working well for me.
Hugs to you all
