Psalm 140
God, who is the strength of our salvation, is the one who covers our head in times of battle when we come under attack and are victims of malicious talk. The head is most vulnerable not only physically but in the sense that we are often entrapped and defeated by the thoughts that dominate our thinking and attitudes. Our only solution is to turn to the Lord as our defense in supplication and allow Him to deal with our enemies. To be defensive or counterattack is a "no-win" solution and brings us down to the same level of those who devise evil and are self-serving.
Philippians 4:6-7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
These verses don't say that God will necessarily answer our reque3sts, but He will guard our hearts and our minds to provide an abiding peace.
Let God deal with the wicked who may abuse and malign us. Be confident that He comes alongside of us to stand with us as He will "maintain the cause of the afflicted and justice for the poor" v12. But we have a responsibility to be conscientious to walk in righteousness and maintain an "upright" attitude toward others as we are always in God's presence. We should give thanks to Him regardless of what we may experience.
