SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Jan 7th

Good morning,
We have rain today. 42' with a lake in our back yard that's not supposed to be there. Ducks have moved in and are swimming on our lawn. Another good day to be inside, sewing VALENTINE SWAP BLOCKS! (did you see what I did there? That little subliminal message? ;o) )
I might see if Bill wants to go to breakfast this morning. We used to go every Sunday with DB Jim & Terry, but haven't since a few months before he died. I'm ready for an omelet and some hashbrowns. Besides our regular place has a new owner and I've been wondering if it's gone up or downhill. Rumors are down, but I always have to see for myself.
TINA - how did Dad's birthday dinner go? If I read correctly you are going back to their trailer house today to move the last of everything out so it can be moved. Maybe you'll find some of those legal papers there. Just how much stuff is there to move? all the furniture? appliances?
BECCA - Your hubby is in a rough spot with his health. I guess I'd let him call the shots, too. But it has to be hard for you. I'm so glad you liked your quilt. If anyone wants to see a photo of it, Tina posted it in PFTH, top post. Do you make your own coleslaw dressing or do you buy it ready made?
IRISH - how are you feeling today after your tumble? Watch out for headache, changes in vision, dizziness, slurred speech, unstable gait, and anything else unusual. If ANY of those symptoms show up, even just one, you get to a doctor. You hear?? This competition you and Chickie are in - you both are giving me grey hairs! Fortunately I have a quick cure for that!
BECKY - We don't get freezing rain much here. We did have an ice storm in 1997 that was just crazy! Way worse than just snow.
JANA - your rustic bathroom sounds neat! My BFF used to live in a little old farmhouse and she decorated the tiny bathroom to look like an outhouse. They built a rustic bench around the commode, ala outhouse style. Had outhousey pictures on the walls and put the TP in a coffee can. Too bad she couldn't find an old Sears & Roebuck catalog! I have outhouse fabric if you need any.
CHICKIE - are things getting any warmer at your place?
Supper today is easy! Pork chops and baked sweet potatoes with chopped green salad. There is a big recall on romaine lettuce for e-coli contamination. And our state is one of the affected areas. So to be on the safe side I'm tossing our romaine (good-bye $3.79!) and we're having a bagged salad of chopped mixed veggies instead.
What's for Sunday Supper at your house?

Good morning to all if you.
Becca, prayers for you and strength for coping.
Mary, breakfast sounds great! We are off to church soon, then need to stop at Walmart after. DH likes to stop for lunch, but I convinced him to come back here to eat up the little dab if this and that.

Tonight dinner will be something simple as I want to see this afternoon. ???? Need to make up my mind LOL

Good morning my dear friends,
I so appreciate it when I can get on here early. Then I don't have to clean up after everyone. Not sure who is emptying the dishwasher here the next morning, but I do start it when I am late getting here. Mary, is that you emptying the dishwasher?
Just sitting here waiting to go to church at 10. Got up early this morning and am almost done the laundry. Didn't get to it yesterday because we I decorated the house of Christmas. Yes, I know there is no word UNDECORATED in the dictionary, but I like it. Lol.
Think we are having left overs today. I have to try to finish up A quilt for my niece, Jackie, who needs a liver transplant and is on dialysis for her kidneys. She lived with Ken and I when she was a teen. She really is in bad shape so any prayers will be greatly appreciated.
Better get to that last load in the dryer. I DO NOT want to iron anything.lol
Oh BTW, I just thought of this. The blocks I am putting together for Jackie is the swap we did last year or the year before..3 flowers in any container. She is going to love it.
Off to the laundry room. Love you guys
Carole you know what my ends with. Lol

Good lazy afternoon from not as cold, SW. Pa....
Nothing happening in this sleepy town, I think everyone is in shock because the temps are above 0, lol....Either that or everyone went to the beach and left me behind....
Mary, you have a little bit of everything at your house, don't you...Today a lake with wild creatures, tomorrow, who knows what.....So far so good with the noggin...Just makes a person mad when that person does stupid stuff! And I've done lots of stupid stuff....
Becca, I agree with your DH although it's hard to sit back and even think about it...I often will look at Jim and think how much he reminds me of his mother...She was a stubborn gal, never sick, tough as nails and 5 weeks before she passed, had a slight stroke...From then on, she made up her mind to do what she wanted and more or less, refused to eat..She was doing things her way and I can see Jim doing the same, maybe not to the extent as she did but he's working on it, lol....Sometimes life isn't always easy but we all muddle through, one day at a time.....Stay strong my friend.....
Sorry, I can't stay and chat...Terry and Nick will be coming and we're going to take Jim his recliner...Not sure he'll remember it but we'll see....And the newest thing, the kids, especially Kathy, think I need to get a new car...I always thought kids didn't want their parents to spend their money and keep it for their inheritance, lol...So, I did stop and check out a few cars at the dealer we usually buy from and maybe, found a couple...I had to laugh, love it when they say, 2017 models are super cheap, yea right! Might surprise everyone with a cute little red convertible!...
As far as dinner, might happen, might not...Maybe Terry will have a plan.....I did hear my sister made a pot of stuffed pepper soup, so that might be an option....
You all have a great day.........
Happy eating...........
Eagle Update:
The nest at Berry College has it's 2nd egg...Merry and Jingle are growing like weeds...Those parents have a hard job supplying them with fish every day.....

Good afternoon! We are having chilly rain here—nothing hard, just a drizzle. We are so very dry that it’s welcome, even if I have had to be out in it.
Becca—so glad you are enjoying your quilt! I’ve never used mustard in my cole slaw dressing. I bet it has a lovely “zip”!
Mary—did you get to go out for breakfast? I made a dutch baby pancake with some diced ham in it for us this morning.
I haven’t heard from my aunt again, but I’m sure my uncle is pleased with his quilt! Sweet feed is peletized corn, oats, wheat, and ??? all in a wonderful molasses smell when I open the bags. It smells good enough to make for cereal or into bread. No wonder the calves love it! The range cubes are big pellets for the cows, but they don’t smell quite as molassesy. I’m a sucker for molasses and sorghum. I’d rather have that than syrup. I can’t find sorghum any more. Grandma got it in tins, and later I found it in jars.
Irish—have a wonderful time with Terry, Nick and Jim today! Had to laugh—I was looking at Nissan Z cars online this morning! I think I need to keep my truck for hauling dogs. My truck is 20 years old, but it only has 108,000 miles. Stuffed pepper soup??? Count me in!!!
I agree… Life isn’t always easy! We women are tough!
Carole—you are so sweet to do the quilt for Jackie; she will love it! Best wishes to her!!!
Vel—have a great day!
Becky—this warmer weather is so welcome! Enjoy!
Tina—I know you had a great birthday for your dad… so good to have family near for support! I keep looking for a smallish brisket. I guess I’m going to have to buy a huge one and cut it up and freeze it.
Jana—our kids had a “real” old barn door on their bathroom at their first home. It had the old rails and slid along the wall to open.
When I was out yesterday, I picked up a slab of baby back ribs, and we had half of them last night. We might do the rest tonight or possibly a steak. Baked potatoes and salad will round out for DH with Brussels sprouts for me, too.
Bon appétit!

Good afternoon!
I have the roast in the oven, doing it the old fashioned way with the onion soup mix. I haven't cooked a pot roast like that in many many moons! Crockpot would take too long as I have Choir practice tonight and again on Tuesday night. We sing next week at our Stake Conference. A stake is comprised of several wards and meet together twice a year for inspirational talks. My stake has 10 Wards and that means about 3500 members.
We are still a little warm, about the same as Mary.
Irish- what fun! A red convertible! Yes, Do It! Just remember to smile sweetly at the police officer that pulls you over. I have always told my kids I am spending their inheritance - more fun that way!
Well, need to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good evening ladies,
We are getting the same as Chickie, light drizzle. Has been most of the afternoon, but I imagine it will really start to freeze here before long. I think JR said it was 32 out there, sadly, the warmest it has been all week.
Our news for the new year is that my new great-nephew was born on the 4th. He was highly anticipated for a while, and his grandma, my sister, thinks he is precious! Can't imagine! Ha. He weighed in at 8 lbs, 2 oz, and his name is Cy Allen. Apparently he didn't want to come out. This is my nephews first (and sounds like only). They have been together for over 12 years, so I am anxious to see how this disrupts the household.
My DD put a roast in the oven a bit ago, and it is smelling pretty good. I don't believe she did it like Jana, sometimes I wonder where her skills came from, Guess I will go see about a veggie and a salad. I sure do hope she put in potatoes and carrots!
I just bet you have made many, many bowls of coleslaw over the years Becca! JR's mom used to be such a good cook, and that was one of the things that she made really well, unfortunately, when she would write the recipe down for me, it was somehow never like hers! After she got sick, it seems like that is the one part of her brain that just doesn't work correctly anymore.
You all have a really nice night, back to work for me tomorrow.
Becky
