Psalm 127

The following verses speak of the blessing of children as a gift of the Lord. Such references obviously let to the Jewish concept that barrenness was a punishment from the Lord. Perhaps the entire Psalm is not so much about building a literal house as it is about building a home. Without the Lord is unlikely a family will prosper and be blessed. One can engage in all kinds of personal efforts to protect his family, but the Lord will guard the sanctity of the home. Children are, indeed, a blessing from the Lord, but if they are to be as a reward and others will speak well of them they must be nurtured in righteousness and the ways of the Lord. Many parents would acknowledge their frustration in dealing with the rebellion and independent spirit of an adolescent and their need for the Lord to help in the challenge of raising children who will be a blessing and will walk with the Lord.

Hugs and Prayers

Further verses to ponder:
Deut 6:7
And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

Ephesians 6:4
And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

3 John 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

There are so many references in the scriptures of children, joy and happiness. Children are indeed a blessing from the Lord. We are given His children, here on earth to teach and guide them in learning all they need to do, to return and live again in His kingdom.

Sometimes it is a hard thing we are asked to do, but our loving Father in Heaven is there to guide and help us. He is the perfect parent, an example that we can follow in teaching those precious spirits entrusted into our care.

Thanks Izzy, I really needed this. Sometimes as a parent you can set a foundation and pray that your child follows the right path, and outside influences turn things astray.

Please add a prayer for Marilyn that she remembers what she's been taught and keeps it in her heart.
