We earned our supper out. I got the whole house cleaned and vac'd yesterday, and baking, shopping lists organized. Then we rounded on the cemeteries with silk bouquets of poinsettias, dropped Drew's quilt off and handed Alec his tree skirt at work. Today will be laundry. Ugh. Isn't it always! At least it's not on a washboard out in the yard over a fire! and I think I'll get a start on some baking. We're going to make up some cookie tins to hand out to family and friends.
CHICKIE - you are a wonder with how you pulled that comfort quilt together and quilted it! You and Tina and Jana really stepped in where needed this year, as well as Linda (Sweetpeadesigns). Bless you all! What is Doyal doing in the kitchen now?
JANA - When you get done with your Batt Cave, you'll have no need to ever go upstairs!! Having seen it in its 'early days', I know it's a wonderful place to hole up for the winter!
BECCA - Good to hear your congestion is clearing and I hope your DH is better soon, too.
IRISH - sounds like you and your sis had a good day and found plenty of trouble to occupy your afternoon! Is everyone getting steak for Christmas?? lol! Hate to hear of your sis's hands being so crippled up. Arthritis? A LITTLE 6' tree?? that's a pretty respectable height if you ask me!
BECKY - yes, burgers for us last night! And good ones! With bottomless fries, their claim to fame at Red Robin. Which always sounds irresistable until after you eat a burger and your first round of fries. There's no where to put any more! And for me, the best part of the burger is mounds of greenery!
Supper tonite is going to be pork chops and baked sweet potatoes with a skimpy salad. We have a lot of lettuce but my only other fresh veggie in the house right now is celery. Do you know, we had supper once about 20 years ago at a relative's house in southern MN and celery was served as a side dish, cut bite-size and boiled or steamed. Here it's either a snack or chopped for recipes. Does anyone here think of it as a dish all by itself?
