SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Nov 26th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Nov 26, 2017 3:12 am

Good rainy morning!

Gosh, we've had a lot of rain the past couple of weeks. A few bluffs along some rivers are sloughing off into the water, taking some homes with them. Fortunately, we are in no danger of that. Our back yard slopes slightly so we always get a bit of a lake out there in winter, but that's it. Wild ducks love it!

Today we plan to put up our tree and the Nativity set. I made the Nativity set when I was 18, while taking classes with my mom and sister. The standing figures are about 8" tall, camels are 11", and are painted in detail right down to the eyelashes. It took me 8 months of weekly classes to finish. One day it will go to Autumn, but for now, it has pride of place in our home every Christmas. I hope we get everything done early because Seahawks come on at 1pm today. I'm also half finished with a tote bag I'm making for a gift and I hope to finish that up today as well. Though, I messed up on it and hope I can salvage it. Otherwise, I'll have to start over with new fabric. Arghhh!!

BECCA - I'm sorry you didnt' get to see your DGS and his little girl. Hopefully soon. And I hope your DH is recovering from all the crowds on TG. I bet your house is starting to look festive!

JANA - sorry you have a Scrooge. Bill is sort of that way, but I simply ignore him. He dragged all the totes of decorations out of our storage area under our stairway for me. About 9 totes and some other stuff. I haven't told him about the 5 more totes in the quilting room closet yet. ;o) But he's usually listening to Christmas music even when he's alone, and he often wears his Santa hat when he's out and about. But talk about outdoor lighting and he gets snarly! I hear trees are really expensive in other parts of the country. We paid $9/foot for our noble. And we cut a 7-foot tree. (they didn't count the last 5"!). We could go in the mountains with a $5 permit and cut one, and have for many years, but Bill just doesn't like the long drive and the lengthy hunt through the snow for the purrfect tree any more. So we do the tree farm thing now.

IRISH - so sorry your holidays were saddened by a funeral. Did the boys drive back to NC already? Did Terry sell his house there? I'm glad you had a nice thanksgiving. How did Jim do? And don't feel bad that you forgot to take photos - that means you were having a great time and making memories! Pretty egg-citing to see new eggs! Glad you keep us informed!

I might make a homemade pizza for supper tonite. I think there's just enough ham left to dice it up for a topping. I never even made dinner last night. Bill loaded up a plate of leftovers about 1pm and heated them in the microwave so that kept him full, I guess. At supper time we had chips and dip.

Have you still got leftovers? I love them the first day or two. But after that, I tend to feel that they are stalking me everytime I open the fridge!

Good morning :)
Mary, I think Bill needs to watch Christmas Vacation again LOL the tree hunting part :) thenhe'd be happy to go cut down your own tree. .... you don't have snow like that and taking a picnic with you. .... yum. .... just an idea for next year ♡ your Nativity Scene sounds wonderful. .... pictures please.

We had a great Thanksgiving and Friday and Saturday :) yesterday Kevin, Maria and Jazmyne helped me decorate and it's about done. ...I thought I was done last night but forgot the den and Frankie is in charge of putting up our biggest village in our fireplace that we don't use in the living room.
We don't have very many leftovers left now. I babysat Mom here yesterday and she enjoyed watching everything be decorated and we ate leftovers for lunch. I made burritos for supper last night. Tonight I'm probably doing something with the last of the ham. .. Turkeyhas been gone since Friday night.

Quick minute - we are having noodles. The are made, rolled and hand cut. The broth is hot and waiting. I was remembering when I started this with my family, some 40+ years ago and it was passed down from Michael's great grandmother, down to me and onto my kids. That is five generations, with more to come. How great it is to have these traditions and see the next generation embrace these old traditions.

Enjoy!

Late here but we had company all day.DGS & his girlfriend came.He didn’t get his little girl but decided to come anyway. We had a great day together.Shes very nice & brought me a fresh beautiful bouquet of fresh Flowers.

He called this morning to say they were coming & I had to get in gear as it was 10::45 Then.I got busy & got it done.I had already made stewed apples. And baked sweet potatoes. So I added grilled chicken tenders. And real Mac n cheese.Made candied yams. And I had cake & cookies I made.So we were set.

Maryz My DDIL That got killed in car wreck made me a porcelain manger scene tipped in gold.It was beautiful.Had 17 pieces. It was a treasure for sure. After she died I felt it should be Alex’s & the boys so I gave it to them.I had it for 18 yrs.Bought one that is as close to hers as I could find. They are beautiful.

Tina Glad you had 3 good days & had help decorating. My help is all grown up now.

Jana Would Love those noodles.Sure Ethan has it all rehearsed.

It was another good day here.DH was on couch until they arrived. Now he can rest again next wk.Ill continue to decorate.I cut out a bunch of doll clothes yesterday for one of the Grands.Everytime they FaceTime she has BeBe & she’s always naked .So I make clothes.lol
