Good morning,

We've warmed up to 45 but we've got pouring rain this morning. Since Scottie and I are sissies - OK, maybe it's "I" are a sissy - we probably won't be walking this morning. But we have a long sunny stretch headed our way so no complaints here!

Yesterday I finished my quilt and it's ready for the quilt frame. And Bill finished HIS quilt so he's now ready for mine. But we both got sidetracked by picking up Christmas stuff. I'm about 3/4 done but Bill decided after 31 years of crawling back into the under-stair storage space that we finally needed a light in there. You see, this year, for the first time, HE did the crawling! lol! I'm not complaining! I can live around the waiting totes and boxes while he installs lighting.

Oh, here's a funny story I forgot to tell you - We kind of keep an eye on my brother's house - 2 miles away - because my SIL, Terry, has been living in Las Vegas with her DD for the past year. Bill bought me some Christmas gifts he wanted to hide so he put them at J&T's in a back bedroom. And they rented the house out!! And didn't tell us about it for a few weeks!! lol! Bill drove over there but no one was home. We have a key but he felt funny about going in to what was now someone else's home, so he left. He finally was able to catch them at home one day just before they were about to throw his bags away!! Whew! I almost lost my Fiesta Ware!!

VELDA - nice to have so many meals ready in the freezer! One of my favorite leftover dishes is turkey tetrazzini. Yum!

JANA - glad the kids went with a Christmasy name for Noel! I bet she is a bundle of laughs! I bill myself as a cat person, but I have to admit I love dogs, too, and can't imagine life without one. They love us back, unconditionally. Cats are more in it for themselves.

CHICKIE - you have been working so hard for so long for so many! I'm going to send you a box of Calgon! Oh, and a tub. You're going to need a tub!

TINA - I am so sorry for you and all your family going through this difficult time. You are doing the right thing but knowing that doesn't make it any easier, I know. (((hugs))) to you and to your dad and siblings!! I will be thinking of you this afternoon.

BECKY - you are another busy one in addition to holding down a job! Maybe you keep the job just so you can go somewhere and rest!!

BECCA - thinking of you, too. Hope you're able to be back at the table again soon. (((hugs!))) to you, too!

IRISH - How's it going on the painting/scrubbing/rearranging front?

I know I talked bean soup or sauerkraut yesterday but Bill tossed me a curve. And then followed up on it!! He decided he wanted spaghetti! and then since he sat and watched TV all afternoon while I was working hard on de-Christmasing the house and was BEAT - he cooked! Bill NEVER cooks except when we're camping. I was floored! But so grateful! He poured me a glass of wine and I sat in front of the fire and relaxed and got to see how the other half lives! Ahhhhh . . . .. It was great! I'm thinking of keeping him! ;o)

Since there is another meal's worth of sauce left, we'll probably have more pasta tonite. But the hard part is done!!

What's your plan for tonite? You can't have Bill - he's taken!

Good morning!

Mary - Michael cooks too, like El quilts, with his credit card! If Michael cooks, the vehicles all know the way. LOL

Tina - many prayers of comfort for you and your family. It is hard to make those decisions. Lots of hugs!

Becca - hugs to you too! Wish I was there in person!

I got Michael's quilt off the LA and I hate it! I, so chose the wrong thread color, so the quilt will get it's binding and only live downstairs in the Batt Cave. Michael likes it, and it will keep him warm. Hopefully never make that thread mistake again!

Dinner will be the soup I have been trying to make. I think I will throw it all in the crockpot, then it will get done.

Enjoy!
Jana

Good afternoon from a very, very cold, (12) and white stuff flying around, SW. Pa....This weather is not for ninnies, like me.....

Mary, I'd say Bill sure does sound like a keeper....Not often can you find a fellow who can quilt AND cook...You probably could make some extra quilt money if you decide to rent him out...Hmmm, that doesn't sound right, does it, lol....You are having summer weather, that's great...We might get to 20 today and then back to 6 tonight...Not good for the water pipes...
AND speaking of water pipes, day before yesterday, I was ready to leave to visit with Jim, walked down the steps and found water at the bottom...I could hear water gushing and had a hard time finding it...The water line that feeds the spigot outside hadn't been tightly turned off and the line had burst, outside..Of course Mom calls Terry and Nick, but by then I had found the turn off and they helped clean up the water..Thank goodness it happened before I left the house or I might have needed scuba gear...There are days when my life is just darn right exciting (which I can do without)....

Becca, my heart goes out to you these days...Thank goodness he didn't suffer...Lots and lots of hugs and prayers, my friend.....

Tina, you also are in my thoughts and prayers...This is probably the toughest decision you've ever had to make but go with your heart and the wishes of your Mom....Takes me back to our Chris, his son, Andy, wanted to wait another day but, his wife, Kathy, said, Chris wouldn't want to wait, he's ready... I have no doubt, the Good Lord will welcome her with open arms as he did with Chris....Many hugs and prayers are with you also.....

Today is a stay at home day, and I'm not going to say, come H+++ or high water...I've started picking up what little Christmas stuff I have out and hope to go through the rest and give it to GoodWill...
Yesterday, another gal and I went to a fellow Meals on Wheels volunteer's house for lunch..And we all agree, de-clutter!After lunch (and a small glass of wine), I went to visit with Jim...Told me he was tired, he had worked so hard all day and after his dinner, he was taking a nap..Makes me feel so good when he's able to talk a little....And on the way home, the car pulled into Subway...Old car still has it!

I am so determined to make that veggie/beef soup today that was supposed to be made last week...Don't need anything else!

You all have a super day, please stay warm and safe....

Happy eating................

Eagle Update:

Both eaglets are doing well and have started bonking each other when getting fed...Sometimes, it's hard to watch but this is the way of the eagle and soon, they'll be the same size and it will be better....AND as far as naming them, they will be called, E10 and E11....The owner of the property where the nest is has decided they will not be named...The owner is a well know realtor in Ft. Myers and feels it's his call...I know, you aren't allowed to "own" any part of an eagle so in my opinion, he doesn't have that right and feel if anyone, all the people who donate to help with the cameras etc., should make that decision...But, I come up with my own pet names for them so there! What a rebel, right????

We get to go dancing tonight. Not as often now this year. With Hurricane Harvey, some parks don't have a club house up and running.
Anyway, doing some leftover chili tonight. That's quick, and we can eat before we change clothes. Always wear my boots for dancing. Don't know why, but it just works better. Was ironing on another section ready for applique stitching tomorrow.

Good morning! Last day of over freezing for awhile… Winter is not fun! This morning was 20, so not bad with no wind. Pocket Lint and Blackie were at their pen wanting sweet feed, and of course I took a bucket out to them, a bucket to Blondie and Annie, and bottles for Blondie and Annie. Pocket Lint seems to like the attention, and I was rubbing her face and ears and nuzzling her as she was nuzzling me back… I’m sure she was looking for more than I was willing to give her, but she’s fun.

Mary, that is too funny and almost tragic about the Fiestaware! I can’t imagine they wouldn’t tell you about renting the house knowing you kept a lookout for it. You’re right… no tub here. There are times when I miss it. In the summer there’s the pond, or maybe I should have a stock tank just for me in summer!

Tina—Hugs to you! I know this is one of the most difficult things you will face. Am so glad everyone is now on the same page and can hold on to each other.

Irish—The fun never ends! Now a water line… So glad you have the boys close! We had that happen here the first winter we were in this house.

I started this early, then Levi stopped in to visit for a few minutes, DH came home for brunch, and the computer got forgotten in the world of feeding everyone and every thing, finishing the quilting and back to the care and feeding routine.

Dinner was some leftovers thrown together. I think I need to cook tomorrow. All good things must come to an end. Tomorrow is coffee with my friend and lunch with Mom. My DD is coming over to have lunch with us, too. That will be a fun highlight to a very cold day. Temps are dropping tonight and will be below zero the next night. Guess who is on dog duty… We put up tarps around the calf pen for wind break, and I’ll haul warm water and feed and bottles. They will be out wandering in the yard during the day and finding wind breaks. These calves don’t stay under the back porch like Pocket Lint and Blackie. Those two were after sweet feed twice today… of course, they didn’t go hungry! Everything and everyone are spoiled here!

Hopefully I’ll get here earlier tomorrow. I haven’t heard any more from Tina, but I’ve been thinking about her all day. Becca—thinking of you as well. My heart goes out to both of you.
