Good morning!

My fingers wanted to type April instead of December. Must be some kind of subconscious thing. Ya think?? I just accidentally deleted my entire sew-in post. I hope I can do better here this morning.

Yesterday I said I was glad we didn't have to go anywhere and yet, we were on the road by 9:45! three errands and a movie - Father Figure, which was worth the $5 Tuesday ticket. All star cast headed by Glenn Close and Owen Wilson. when we got home I sewed for a while and put a few of the Christmas things away. Today, more of the same except for the movie. The Laundry Basket is starting to snarl at me, but I plan to ignore it for at least one more day.

CAROLE - It's really great to see you at the table!! Don't worry about arriving late - we always go back and look for stragglers. Your poor brother! What an experience! So happy he finally called 911. Would have been hard to drive himself while keeping pressure on his foot. I remember when you went back and stayed with him last year while he had surgery. BTW - you mentioned Valentines so I'll make my pitch here - I am hosting my first swap ever - a Valentine's swap and I'll be starting it right after Jan 1st. It will be fun . . . . ;o)

GLENDA - WELCOME!! So happy to see you here but sorry you are fighting depression. But you got here and you are quilting - two major steps in fighting it! Good for you! Pleae know that while everyone's journey is different, some of us have walked a similiar path and we understand and are here for you.

CHICKIE - I will certainly be offering up some prayers for your sister. Scary stuff. Keep us in the loop! Hope it warms up at your house!

TINA - I haven't heard from Tina yet today but her mom wasn't waking up yet as of yesterday afternoon.

Supper. You know when I get to this part of my post I rarely have a plan! So I scramble to come up with some kind of menu by the end of my paragraph. I have leftover ham so it might be navy bean and ham soup or it might be ham diced into scalloped potatoes. But it's definitely going to be ham something for sure. and salad. and maybe corn. Since Carole loves it so much.

and you? what are you scrambling to have?

Lol this is going to be short and sweet. I am off for a echo and stress test. For dinner
tonight it will be a surprise because it will be up to Ken. BTW he is a very good cook so no fear it will be good.

Mary Please tell Tina she is in my prayers along with her mother.. No matter what , this must be so hard on her. Well off to the shower for me.

Good morning! Oh, I’d like to be typing April, too, but I have too much to do now to skip three months! Guess I’ll be o.k. with too cold to go out and stay inside! Except… I have calves to feed and Ava to walk.

I’ve seen the ads for “Father Figure”, and it looks funny. Wonder if I could stay awake…

It didn’t warm up… it’s colder today than it was yesterday morning and colder than last evening which was colder than yesterday morning. I know the calves liked their warm bottles. They are getting so big! Annie could easily go back to DS1’s and to the pasture. Blondie belongs to DS2 and has been smaller, but recently she’s growing.

Carole—you are so lucky to have a cook! I’m so in awe!!!

Prayers for Tina and Becca and their families!

Dinner here… I think I have enough leftovers for one more night… We cleaned up spaghetti last night, and there’s lasagna for tonight.

Bon appétit!

Good early afternoon from a very cold but not too much snow, SW. Pa...We've got a dusting and that's quite enough for me...AND right now, the sun is shining but it's bitter cold...As one of our old radio announcers used to say, it was a 3 dog night last night but in my case it was an electric blanket and a 2 cat night...Poor little Jake didn't even want to come out of his warm "cat house" for breakfast this morning so he was kind of served, in bed.....

Just want to tell you a weird thing, yesterday, I had read all the posts, had started writing and after reading Carole's story about her brother's injury and was telling about my Mom had pretty much done the same thing and all of a sudden, my post disappeared, just as Carole's had done....Wonder if it's something to do with blood or icky things, ( and I hadn't even mentioned fish) lol.....

Mary, you can write April anytime, you know, you are the queen so you can do what every your heart desires........Oh boy, am I ready for it to be April! I've watched the ads for that movie and decided that's one I'd like to see...There's another that has Terry Bradshaw in it and it also looks funny...But, then most times, they put the best parts in the ads, lol...My laundry basket did more than snarl, so instead of a full blown riot, I gave in..Besides, I really wanted to wash the new shirts Jim had gotten...He's going to be a cool looking dude with all his new clothes....
Funny thing, the other day when I stopped in, one of the gals told me he was dancing (might have told you all before) but they had musical group come in and he was tapping his feet and Patricia, (his favorite aide) asked him if he wanted to dance...I can't thank these gals enough for the attention they give him....
And please, if you talk to Tina, tell her how much we miss her and pray for a good outcome with her Mom...I feel so bad for Tina, what all she's going through...

And Becca, I'm thinking about you and what you're going through..Doubly sad when it's sudden like that...Keeping you and the family in my prayers....Hang in there, girl friend....

Chickie, you have such a big heart to take on feeding and taking care of all those four legged critters...Just keep thinking, spring is just around the corner....

Carole, with the e, I'm almost afraid to write, lol...Gee, you have such an exciting day, tests and then a nice surprise dinner....Hope the day is all extra good......

Our Christmas was great, brunch was good, company was super and I loved every minute of it...BUT, I've decided, that's my last year, I'm passing the spatula on to someone else, probably Terry and his wife...After everyone did their thing here, I sat with a cup of tea and enjoyed the quiet, then went to Kevin's and that certainly wasn't quiet...Their youngest son also has an English bull dog, Molly, very big and together with Kevin's puppy bull dog, Kessie, it was bedlam...They like each other but they both did their share of barking and snatching each other's toys..Exchanged more gifts and then Terry and his tribe came and more gifts and I left to visit with Jim...By the time I got home, I could hardly get out of the car and yesterday I was a complete waste...Today, although I'm still in my new fuzzy robe, I have accomplished a little and now, I need to jump in the shower and leave to visit with Jim.....

As for dinner, probably more ham...Kathy got me an electric egg cooker so maybe I'll cook or poach some eggs and have breakfast and cookies from everyone for my afters.....

You all have a great day..........

Happy eating........

EAGLE UPDATE!

We have a baby, fully hatched yesterday afternoon and there is a big PIP in the other egg so we'll probably have another baby later today...It's always good when they hatch close together, less problems with them fighting with each other over food...
These babies are so cute when they are hatched, little balls of fluff....

Good morning ladies.
Glad to see all are getting recuperated from the holidays.
Prayers being sent to Tina and Becca. So sorry for you both.
We will be having chili tonight, possibly a side of potato soup. The baby brats think those two soups go together! Kind of like meatloaf and f....I mean mac and cheese. Ha....
You all have a great day. Becky

Good afternoon!

Prayers, hugs and good thoughts of our Tina and Becca.

Just got home from a quick run to the grocery store. There were hardly anyone in the parking lot or store - guess that everyone has tons of leftovers!

Tonight will be tortilla soup. A staple here. As I was gathering the veggies for the house, Michael was off on his own, gathering the fixings for his soup.

The last of the packages from Daniel arrived, so now I need to sort out that last one and give it out.

Heading down to the Batt Cave in a few minutes, laundry is going and the groceries are put away.

Enjoy!
Jana

Hello Everyone:

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas. Prayers for Tina and Becca for their loved ones.

We had a great time in Yosemite. There was no snow but that allowed us to do quite a bit of hiking on the valley floor. It was in the high 20's to high 30's at night and 1st half of the day. But it would climb to the 40's and 50's mid afternoon for about 15 minutes. Pretty warm for winter!! Never did put on our ski pants or long underwear. Here are pics of the Majestic (Awahnee) and one of their beautifully decorated trees.

Now it is back to the routine, laundry and regular life. Very dry here in the Central Valley, have had to turn the sprinklers back on. Hazy and foggy every day, sun breaks thru for a little while in the afternoon. I have been trying to finish binding another quilt to send off and decide what to start next. After 12 years I think I am finally reaching the end of family that need a quilt. Now I am working on friends. Then I will start on the donation quilts. Also got another Featherweight at a yard sale so now I have two to restore, then sell.

For Christmas, DH surprised me with a special pedal foot he made to use with my Featherweight and other old vintage Singers, that turns the hard to push little knob into a full foot pedal. He is so handy!!

Today he has been cooking oxtail soup all day. It will be like a beef stew, over noodles, with a salad. We need to "detox" from all the big eating we did at Yosemite, so we are eating light for awhile.

Not much else doing around here for the next week. Christmas decorations and tree will come down. I leave Jan. 13 for a week in San Diego to visit family, so that is coming up.

Hope you all stay well, stay warm, and stay happy for the New Year. Hugs to you all,

**Linda

Oh Yosemite! Love the Awanhee Hotel. Their holiday special dinners are so yummy!

Beautiful picture of the tree, and the couple in front too!
