Psalm 125

The theme of the previous Psalm that God is our help is reinforced by the assurance of the security He provides. Those who trust in the Lord in times of need or personal attacks and temptation, rather than depending on self-reliance, are "as Mount Zion, which cannot be moved". v1. The psalmist continually returns to the image of the mountains; there is nothing so massive, so strong, and secure. But of special significance was Mount Zion. This was where there, and it came to be understood as the place of God's presence. Zion often refers to heaven and that future kingdom of God that is eternal. So it is a beautiful promise that "those who trust in the LORD are as Mount Zion" v1. They are secure forever.

Zion is a wonderful concept. Zion is the pure in heart, a people seeking to live as the Savior did. It is also known as a gathering place. In the mountains of the Lord, as He is His flock's protector. The word of the Lord goes forth from Zion spread throughout the world. Not only by missionares, but by those that are pure in heart, as their light shows forth in their works.

We have a song in our hymnal - Zion Stands with Hills Surrounded. Text written in the 1800's by Thomas Kelly, while he labored as a missionary (not LDS) in the Cook Islands. The text he used was this scrpiture from Psalms.
